next weeks watchtower.
'who is leading god's people today' is quite incredible.
i am so looking forward to blondie's comments on this one.
Well said, Tor.
I noticed the same thing about Whites only being of the anointed, which should have set off alarm bells due to the many Whites Only signs I'd witnessed in the Jim Crow South.
But, selfishly, I kept quiet because I feared if I rocked the JW boat too much, I wouldn't make it into the new system.
Boy, was I hoodwinked!

after sitting down, the witnesses were told to look at the sun, and soldiers watched their eyes to make sure they were staring at the blazing sun.
Sadly, being Africa, this is all too believable!
It could have been Asia, Australia, Europe, North/South America.
Evil people are on every continent.

Yes, Steve2.
They are lost in the 50's, with Samuel Herd as their token Neeegro!

the claim that dan was not a genuine tribe is not new, but as the haaretz article explains there is newer archaeological evidence to suggest that the contemporary claims about the tribe of dan have some merit.. so check out the haaretz claims at: http://www.haaretz.com/jewish/archaeology/1.756385.
but there are wider implications in the story.
if this particular group of people did not travel from egypt (as god's word of truth also claims) then they must have lived in canaan all the time.. then consider that palestine (canaan) was for so long part of the egyptian empire, and we begin to see that most of story about the origins of the israelites is mythical..
There was certainly something going on with the tribe of Dan.
In Revelation, the tribe is not mentioned as producing any of the 144k.
No explanation is given for its omission; it's as if John knew none was needed.
Presupposition?
If so, what had gone on with this tribe that made it so inconsequential?
I'm researching all avenues, and have come up with some intriguing stuff.

greetings, my aging friends:.
it's not really a funny subject, our getting old and our bodies falling apart.
sure, as the saying goes, hard work won't kill you, but it can wear out your body.
Are you in the USA, Grreat Teacher?
CLR is calcium, lime, rust remover.
I told my granddaughter in Japan about it, because she has the same problem.with her tub.

One good tub scrub down with CLR - the kind that comes in the little gray jug, NOT the yellow spray bottle - should last for a good while.
Be sure the bathroom is well-ventilated!
Mine looks so clean that I could sleep in it.
Blessings.

YES.
WT goes to the extreme to by majoring in minor stuff.
Straining out the gnat, but gulping down the camel ...
Disregarding the weightier things of the law, namely, justice and mercy ...
YES. Extremist.

okay, i keep reading something and though jw's do not get involved in national wars, my experience has always been they are very violent people.
every convention i have ever been to was filled with children being beat within an inch of their lives for just not being able to take a third day of mind-droning silence without being able to move or now even sleep.
i have seen whole congregations laugh at stories of children being beaten and calling out to "jehovah".
I wholeheartedly agree with with the above posters.
This brings to mind something that happened when the JW lady who studied with me was driving down a narrow road to the KH.
A group of young teenagers who were riding their bikes kept zigzagging.across the road in front of her.
They were laughing and hollering as young people often do, not meaning any harm.
This lady, wife of a prominent elder, became so upset at them, blowing her horn and muttering, "That's why Jehovah is going to destroy y'all!"
I remember thinking, is it that serious?
Just one of the many little things that set off warning signals that I should have heeded.

i was thinking about this.... in my congregation, i was literally the only one with universitary education, out of a cong from around 110 people.... and we're very close to a very big university, which makes it even weirder.. on the other hand... sooo many here with their own business, mostly small cleaning businesses.
cleaning windows, or cleaning somewhere else... painters.... all have jobs that do not require any education level, cos they never had a decent education.. how is the composition of the jw people/congs that you know about?.
how many painters... cleaners... compared to people with jobs that require higher education?.
Roll, Tide, Roll!
I hate saying that.
Usually I root for Auburn, but, alas, there seems no cause as of now.
Way back in '71, I was accepted at the U of A, but didn't get to go,
So, I have a teeny bit of affinity for the school.
Plus, Julio Jones made us all proud.
I'm really honored to interact with you; I daresay I believe we could split a watermelon together.
