  i'm thinking this morning at the enormous effort required to leave the witnesses.

  that you all found your way here is amazing.

  you are a select group of strong people, who will not allow life or any organization to knock you down.

  Right on, sister girl. What a beautiful tribute. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. These especially apply to me:

  1. I faced the fact that I had been deceived and had in turn deceived others

  2. I regret the pain, heartache, and loneliness I inflicted on my oldest daughter

  3. I'm determined to return to college and finish my degree in history

  4. I have searched out those I could find and apologized for my error

  Just this morning one of my nieces called me long-distance to confirm my address so her daughter could send me an invitation to her daughter's wedding. A few years ago they wouldn't have bothered because they knew what my reaction would have been. When I got off the phone, I gave heartfelt thanks to our Heavenly Father for His love and compassion.

  Thank you again for such a moving tribute to us once-lost souls.

  I definitely believe it is real. But, I think the fact that the Bible gives such scant info about it should give us a clue. Armageddon is mentioned only ONE time. Contrast that with the number of times GRACE and SALVATION are mentioned. Can we take a hint or does it have to be a knock-down?

  a while back, someone mentioned that since the word lurker has a sinister connotation, another term should be coined for those who come to the board but don't participate.. i suggest non-active participant or nap.

  i came to this forum for seven years before i joined, so i know how difficult it can be to take that first step.. snowbird.

  What was I most afraid of? Appearing stupid and being laughed off the board. Crossing the line from simply being inactive to becoming the dreaded "A" word. JW's were my life for 30+ years, and it was hard to accept the fact that they were just another religion. I made a post here a month ago about crossing the Rubicon - which refers to taking an irrevocable step. Once I made that first post, I knew there was no possibility of my ever going back to the JW's. That was THE defining moment in my life.
