mastiffoner, you said,
Well I'm fed up. And when I came across this sight I thought maybe I could find some comfort with others in the same boat.
We've all been there. The WTS doesn't know the meaning of Christianity.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Anything weird you like to eat?
by free2beme ini was camping this weekend with some friends and around the camp fire the subject came up, "what is something weird you like to eat?
" i thought it was a fun subject and we all had some laughs over our odd appetites.. some of mine .... i love bologna with american cheese and miracle whip (the only thing i will use miracle whip with).
i love the taste of straight pickle juice or hot pepper juice.

Snowbird: Tomatoes possess a natural narcotic that goes straight to the pleasure center of your brain. No wonder they helped you so much!
I wasn't aware of that, RollerDave. By the way, I covet your truck. It looks like a handful.

Meeting RollerDave and seeing his aposta-truck up close
by Gopher insometimes when someone new comes on the board and makes a big splash, you wonder if it's all for real.. rollerdave arrived on this board in the last couple months and has lit it up with his insight and wit, including recent experiences dealing with his old family and congregation.. after i pm'd dave here i learned he was indeed the same dave i knew back in a north-side minneapolis kingdom hall oh so many years ago.
we talked on the phone last weekend and actually got together for the first time last night.
as i expected he is just as genuine and witty and fun as he shows on this discussion board.

Tomatoes - I wash them and eat them raw just as you would an apple.
The people at work think I'm weird, but when I was so severely depressed, tomatoes were the only food that didn't make me sick as a dog.

To stay on topic: (see I'm learning!) I saute a lot of vegetables in chicken broth and tomato sauce with very little meat. Make a batch of cornbread and a pitcher of sweet tea and you've got a meal.
Now SandraC you asked:
Snowbird, I love your new quilt avatar. I know you live near Gee's Bend. Is that quilt a creation of someone in your family?
No, it's not anyone in my family. It's a creation of Mary Lee Bendolph. You can read her story online in "Crossing Over" by J. R. Moehringer.

I bumped this thread because of Finally Free's reply:
I make steaks, salmon fillets, lasagna, cabbage rolls, perogies, stuffed peppers, homemade sausages, stir frys, roasts, BBQ ribs, borscht, soups, cakes, etc. I make everything from scratch. No pre-fabricated shit here.

Do any Christians here still believe that ARMAGEDDON is real?
by nicolaou in.
if so, what do you think will happen when it comes?.

I find it depressing that so many otherwise intelligent people can be taken in by this nonsense. In my JW days I was as convinced of Armageddon's reality as the rest of you but how you can all hold onto it in the face of the discussions we have on these boards is beyond me.
We aren't in the dub box anymore, why take your heads out of one confining world-view and place it straight into another?
It's not about the dubs. It's faith in the Lord Jesus that makes a Christian. It was He who made the prophecy about Armageddon. Now when it's going to happen? No one can say.

I've been here for about 2 and a half months so I don't know if I qualify as a newbie. Here is how I found JWD: One day during a dry spell at work, I typed CULTS into a search engine. Guess who was near the top of the list? You got it.
After nearly swooning and going into the restroom to recover, I returned to my desk and began to read. I followed a link to Freeminds and thence to here. This happened during the early part of the year 2000. I don't know what made me start to search; Y2K fever I suppose. Whatever it was, the rest is history as the saying goes.
The #1 thing that got to me was the WTS history of racism. I'd always wondered why the "anointed" that I knew of were Caucasian. It was one of those niggling things that was always there, but I pushed it aside. Now I understood why - from Russell's paternalistic assurance that Blacks were to turn white during the Time of Restitution to Rutherford's bombastic proclamation that Coloreds were/are a race of servants - the scanned copies of their own literature showed to whom the message was originally intended.
So to all others who are beginning to search, I say to you, keep digging. Do not allow the rumblings from the Tower to stop you. Why do you think they're preaching so vehemently against the Internet? If they had nothing to hide they wouldn't be so paranoid, right? Whether you decide to remain in or take your leave, at least you will be fully informed. Remember, information restriction is one of the tell-tale signs that something is just not adding up.
