The president of Liberia at that time was William V. S. Tubman - yes, a connection to Harriet, who is soon to replace Old Hickory on the 20$ bill.
Mr. Tubman's family family emigrated to Africa at the behest and under the auspices of the very rich Tubman family of Georgia by way of Maryland, Harriet's home state.
I LOVE HISTORY.

Alabama is my home, Wilcox County born and bred. The Alabama River runs the entire length of the county. When I was a child, a Black man was forced into a tub, the tub was filled with cement, man and tub were thrown into the river. His crime? He got too uppity with a White man. Based on experiences like this, and others, I have to respectfully disagree with you.

Are JW's non- violent
by notalone inokay, i keep reading something and though jw's do not get involved in national wars, my experience has always been they are very violent people.
every convention i have ever been to was filled with children being beat within an inch of their lives for just not being able to take a third day of mind-droning silence without being able to move or now even sleep.
i have seen whole congregations laugh at stories of children being beaten and calling out to "jehovah".

Russian news article re: financial misdeeds of the WT in Russia
by OrphanCrow inthe way that the wt conducts business in russia, hiding ownership of property and moving money overseas, was a large factor in the jws falling afoul of the russian authorities.
it wasn't just 'extremist' views that came into play, it was also their handling of money that was illegal.. this article is from a russian news source - i had to use google translate to read it, so i have copied and pasted the whole article (i usually don't...apologies to the author of the article).
if someone has russian language skills, please feel welcome to offer a better translation.. .

Hey, NJWS.
I didn't mean to imply we're inferior in any sense.
It's just that I'm busy searching for the source of such a disparity, and all roads point to some misdeed on Ham's part that made Noah curse him. The Book of Jasher tells what that misdeed was.
I've also found that Noah cursed Ham's son, Canaan, for seizing control of land that had not been allotted to him - Book of Jubilees.
I believe these accounts are historical.

I'm not getting pissy, CG, and I'm sure Tor isn't either.
I'm simply stating that I should have listened to that little inner voice that told me something was wrong with that picture.
As to Black people - descendants of Ham - being under a curse, I believe it, because on every continent, Black people lag behind others in every facet of life.
There MUST be an explanation for this, and it can be found in the Bible and other sacred writings.

I noticed the same thing about Whites only being of the anointed, which should have set off alarm bells due to the many Whites Only signs I'd witnessed in the Jim Crow South.
But, selfishly, I kept quiet because I feared if I rocked the JW boat too much, I wouldn't make it into the new system.
