Island Man, the talks given by brothers that are not ministerial servants or elders have been removed. This is a MAJOR change! I'm sure that more than a few will not like this at all. Obviously, this is a move to control absolutely everything that is said from the platform. -

My Mother Died Two Weeks Ago
by Perry innone of my jehovah's witness relatives called to tell me or my family.
just found out this morning.

Perry, please send us the mailing address of whoever you would have expected to tell you. I will personally send a postal card with a message like this:
"I'm a friend of Perry and I am appalled that you have not told him about his own mother's passing. You have withhold love from someone who deserved it, and by now, you can't take back the hurt you brought upon him, and by extension, everyone who loves him. I hope that, with this message, you will seriously consider what you have done and understand that it is, in fact, one of the low highlights of your life."
I realise that this will not dismiss your pain, but at least, it is something that I could do. So, if you want to pm me about it, i'll be more than happy to send that message.

Sorry Perry, so sorry... two weeks... At this point, its likely that the funeral arrangements are already over and everything has been done... as it?
This doesn't make sense.

Is disfellowshipping a loving arrangement?
by mana11 ini read this post, i voted and the ones saying it is a loving arrangement is over 68%, i am mind blown - what fool can think it is a loving arrangement.
lets teach them that is it not thought of as loving...your chance to let these people know if dis-fellowshipping is a loving arrangement!..

Yes Tim310rd! I agree with disfellowshipping, not with the shunning! You have to admit that it is logical that you cannot be part of a group if you don't follow its rule. And like in most groups, you will not keep contact with most of these members. The problem is that the WT takes this further and tells everyone, including your family, to shun you. Senseless!

And doing God’s will.
by StephaneLaliberte inmy father is still in the truth but keeps in touch with me from time to time.
the other day, he sent me an email about how the generation could be a 120 years like it was for noah.
so, i responded saying that itd be a good thing if it turned out to be true; that he may believe it to be true, as long as he doesnt judge people who dont feel the same way.

You know, I try my best not to be too conventional with my Dad; if I hit him head on with the Generation teaching, he will simply shut down on me. I actually do the complete opposite and even defend some of the actions taken by the borg. The result is that when I point out an issue, he take me seriously. As long as these are small, in the end, they will add up to such a point he will be fed up.

TTWSYF, you're right. the only problem is that I see him so rarely that he doesn't see what I do with my life. What am I supposed to do when I see him? Give him a list of all the good things I'm doing? Wouldn't that feel like boasting and becoming proud about "being" good?
My point is that I can be a good father, husband, friend, and worker, etc... yet JW will dismiss all that away as being pointless. That is why I am trying to reason with him, so that he spends more time with me, his grand sons, and actually see what being a good person actually is.

TV.JW.ORG - October 2015: Neighborly love is more than just Field Service
by Designer Stubble inthe october 2015 jw broadcast, hosted by gerrit losch is quite positive actually.a lot of focus on "field service" needs to be balanced with other good works - supporting those in need around you - either in the congregation (witnesses) or in your classroom or neighbors (non-witnesses).
visiting and encouraging the sick and elderly is mentioned.
jesus parable of the merciful samaritan is highlighted.

Telling people about being good neighbours is not a new teaching for them. However, they talk so little about it, in comparison to preaching and being a JW, that it sounds like: "Oh and by the way, be good to your neighbours!". Its obviously not a priority to them. Building big cathedrals, oups, I mean, bethels, is their main priority now. -

Your right Smiddy, but then, they would just say that the preaching actually started in 1919 when they were selected by Jesus.
About 1919, I told my Dad that they believe they (the JWs) were chosen by Jesus, despite their teachings using the pyramid of Gizeh and their erroneous dates. These false teachings were published in books, magazines, flyers, news papers. They even used radio broadcast and the theatre! In addition, they celebrated their birthdays, Christmas, smoked and accepted blood transfusions.
If Jesus overlooked these things and judged them on their heart and other works, why can't they do the same with people who do not share their belief? Isn't this like the story told by Jesus where a man, after the king forgave his debt, goes after his co-slave and beats him up for the little money he was owed (Matt 18:23-35)?
