what was your mindset like when you were disfellowshiped?recalling the day, i wrote the watchtower society to tell them that they were disfellowshiped .

as an organization for conduct unbecoming a christian organization was one of mixed feelings .

it was a sad heart wrenching reality that fourteen years of my life in this organization had finally .

Well I've only OFFICIALLY been out since mid March. But I didn't go to a single meeting in 2007. I avoided it, because of the other crap that I've went through. And now when people ask me to "go to church with them", I calmly reply, I've done enough 'churchin' for 3 people's entire lives. I have ZERO desire to step foot inside ANY church again.

Somedays, I don't even believe in god, I just think we're all here to live it up, and benefit ourselves as much as we can while we're here, and nothing more. Sad, but true. Other days I believe, but don't believe witness practices of god. Its a very tough thing, leaving mind control like that behind.

Relief of not having to go to meetings, assemblies, service, etc. Relief from not having to listen to old men tell me how to live, and lay burdensome instructions and rules on me constantly and AT THEIR WHIM!!! The ONLY thing that I miss, and I mean THE ONLY THING is association with my father. I love my dad more than anything else in life, and he was a great father to me all my life, and told him no matter what, not to blame himself, and that I'd always love him. He said that he wasn't even upset with me, and that he'd always love me too, but being an elder, he just couldn't talk to me anymore.

I know the rules, and I don't make it hard on my family, I avoid them, don't call them or contact them, I bottle up those emotions, so they only hurt me, and busy myself with my friends, and "worldly" pursuits. Its really nice just living life for me, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE!!!

Albums, Tapes, or Videos You Had to Throw Away?

there are so many songs that the watchtower society says are "bad".

they are the ones that hint on sexual immorality, violence, drugs, or that have reference to devil worship.

or the ones that have swearing in them, which seems to be common these days.. what really gets me is how they find such petty things wrong with songs that they basically want to clean out your whole library and make you listen to kingdumb s*** all the time.

That's what I used to fire back, because you know "country" music and "pop" were always "ok". But get off that path and listen to something with a good beat or a hypnotic groove or a great guitar riff, and suddenly its DEMONIC!!!! Oh the horror!!! I listened to AC/DC and Zeppelin and Sabbath all through high school, then dove deep into blues after college, and Muddy Waters is probably worse than most of the Zeppelin stuff!!! Though if you played them both for JW's they would tell you that Zeppelin was "bad". Meanwhile Muddy is singing about screwing anything that moves, and drinking liquor, smoking reefer, etc.

I got rid of ZERO music, because I informed them that as a MUSICIAN, I'm an expert on the subject, and instead of hearing a word or line here or there, they need to listen to the whole thing in context. They never brought up music to me again. Well one elder said I was materialistic, because I had a couple nice guitars and a really nice tube amp. I basically said that it was my business what they cost, and since I wasn't missing meetings or starving for food, that it wasn't their business.

I did clean out my R rated movies at one point, however now I have most of them back. I just have to go re-buy the Godfather Trilogy.

Yes, your roommate while having every right to be concerned and upset, would have been better off from a "association with family or friends" standpoint to just keep her mouth shut and stop going. Writing letters, the brothers do with those as they deem appropriate, and telling the witnesses, to "leave you alone" or disagreeing with anything will definately result in an apostasy charge. Its really quite ridiculous.

i left when i was in my teenage years, thank god, so i didn't really have the chance to bring anyone under the wts mind control.

ZERO!!! I perfected the "quiet knock", by the time I was about 13. Then by the time I was 15, I was at my mom's house almost every weekend, and sometimes would go to meetings or "service" with my friends, that were also as bad as me. We would go take ONE door in the morning, then go drive around and take breaks, sometimes even play basketball. I was basically irregular for almost 2.5 years, then started going to meetings hardcore in 2004-2006, but my service consisted of answering a question or two at work every now and again, I took a total of maybe 7 doors, after I came back.

Now that I'm DF'd, I play tennis on Saturdays, and am working slowly at getting some more of my friends out here with me.

What Freedoms Do You Enjoy Now That You're Not A Witness?

the watchtower scoffs at "apostates" because they want their "so-called freedom".

not practicing this religion does give you a lot of freedom and normalcy.

Ah, one of my favorite topics... I've only been out for a couple months, so I'm still gettin "in the swing"

I wasn't a model witness, so I was already watching R movies, I've had big sideburns for years, play rock n roll, go to bars, get drunk, swearing, influencing the "younger generation" with my bad habits, etc.

NOW:

I do all the above with ZERO guilt,

AND:

1. Great, mind blowing sex and a TERRIFIC girlfriend that I'm crazy about

2. Growing facial hair, and bigger sideburns

3. Sleeping on Saturday and Sundays

4. Celebrating Mother's Day, by giving my mom a card for the first time ever

5. Not worrying about pleasing family, nosy ass elders, or "holier than thou" friends, telling me how to live my life

6. Having cookouts and associations with my REAL friends, that have been near and dear to me for years, but was constantly scolded for hanging out with.

It really blows me away that I've not ran into any JW's since I been out. Its like they know where I'm at and avoid me like the plague, and that suits me just fine.

as an island, i have to face inescapable facts - those being that sometimes, i must travel to the mainland.

I LOATHE small talk, especially in the workplace!!! Just let me come in and do my job, and leave me the HELL alone!!!! I hate getting "personal" with very many people, I much prefer the anti-social routine, and to stick to myself, and smaller groups
