I know it seems like a bit of an odd question, but I find myself really drawn to his music. I love his drunken Southern drawl, the boogie piano, even the massive ego, and of course the pure unadulterated sexual energy and fire he had. Been listening to his music alot recently, and also lots of Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Chuck of course is one of my guitar heros, just because, without him, most of the rock that I love wouldn't have happened, especially the Stones. I also love Elvis, but Jerry Lee, always was more my favorite of the Sun guys, though Johnny Cash was awesome as well, and its truly a tossup between he, Chuck and the Killer for my favorite 50's rock guy.

Ok, I'll go for that. So this weekend, I had the ulimate "single guy weekend". I smoked pork shoulder starting at around 5 am on Friday morning, then went on a date that night, went to another girl's place Friday night, the next day I had family over for a BBQ, and we drank lots of beer. Then Saturday night I played with my band out at a Marina, and I was flirting and grinding on more women than I care to admit to (while I was playing the shit outta my guitar), and drinking Jack Daniels whiskey, like it was going outta style. Sunday morning I slept in, ate leftover BBQ, then went out and played again that night, on the "bad side" of town, and saw more naked boobies than I care to see again for a while. Yesterday, I layed around and drank margaritas with the same girl from my date on Friday. Also watched some preseason NFL on the NFL Network So it was a good weekend.
I think I covered all the points, women, whiskey, beer, meat, football. Next weekend it'll be more of the same I'm sure, except it will be ribs in the smoker and Maker's Mark to drink, maybe some High Life too, just because, and I'll probably smoke some Padrons too, because I didn't get around to it this weekend.

Misanthropic, I'm single again, so no, I don't mind at all if you'd come over... Just don't complain when you leave and you're 20 lbs heavier, my food tends to be of the unhealthy variety.

Yeah, I can bake too... Usually I do sweet potato pie, with BBQ. If we ever had a midwest apostafest or an Iowa one I know I'd certainly do some smoking and cooking for it. I love cooking for others.

I also made my famous 16 hour BBQ beans and a homemade peach cobbler!!! My grandma brought over some authentic German potato salad, and other brought many more dishes.
BTW, my beans, quite frankly could kill someone, they're not good for you at all. They contain, a full pound of fatty bacon (fried), a smoked ham shank, molasses, Jack Daniels whiskey, brown sugar, liquid smoke, and some seasonings. They are thick and rich almost like a meal in themselves.

It was the best tasting BBQ I've ever had, and usually I'm not one to brag about my own, but this was especially delicious. Next weekend its back to ribs, and maybe another brisket. The briskets are still an adventure for me, but I've got ribs and Boston Butts down to an art form.

Scully that is GENIUS!!! That is the best idea. Then if they do move in, I'd suggest having a loud horn band, practice around there on Tues and Thurs., and maybe tune up the motorcycles on Sat. and Sun.
If they moved in near me, my old loud ass tube amp would be out in the garage, and my guitar buddies would be invited over all the time with their amps.

4 - 5 hours of real service, then another 45 hours of walking, breaks, meeting at the hall, driving to the hall, driving to the territory, stopping at the farmers market, stopping at the thrift store, stopping for gas, going to the mall, going to parks, going to laundry mats, informal witnessing, studying with your sons or daughters (or at least thinking about studying), saying "Jehovah", "Faithful Slave", "This old system of things" or "Jesus" in public, etc.
I only put in more than 1 - 2 hours of real service once in my whole life. One month I put in 16 hours, it felt like 100 or more, it was AWFUL!!!! The last couple years of being a dub, I only went out like once every 3 or 4 months. Most of my time came from "public sayings" or answering friends questions about my crazy religion. I would count 1 hour for each question.

The 2 Witness Rule & Adultery
by minimus inisn't it interesting that the watchtower organization does not require 2 witnesses to prove an allegation of adultery.
if the elders, for example, believe a christian wife who says she's been cheated on, but her husband refuses to acknowledge this to anyone else but her, she can state in writing that her spouse committed adultery and she will be free to remarry if the elders simply believe her!.
yet, this same rule does not apply to pedophilia!.

Don't tell me about a 2 witness rule, I had about 10 different witnesses in my old hall, including pioneers, and Ministerial Servants, stay overnight with me in a car to establish that my ex-wife was staying with a "worldly" man at his home, almost every weekend. Time and again we presented the eveidence and time and time again, I was NOT made free and she was NOT punished. People would see them all over town together, eating, driving around, etc. and then staying at his house, and NOTHING was done. Elders are pieces of garbage as far as I see. I have very little respect for many of them. They weild their power how ever they feel like, depending on wind direction and what they ate for lunch...

Your favorite bits of JW folklore
by B_Deserter inwe all hear stories an experiences that happened to a "friend of a friend," and the witnesses are no exception.
they even have their own urban legends.
here are my favorites, and please post yours as well.. 1. watchtower theologists according to one of the old guys i used to pioneer with, there is a super-scary-secret organization of apostates called "watchtower theology.

What I always found humorous is that most of these stories I found were told by CO's on their "visits". I heard the one about dogs, attacking and being "stopped by some mysterious force" when out in service (though my dad got bit when I was a little boy), I heard the one about the two sisters in service with the angels behind them too.
Of course though the oldest "chesnut" in the book still seems to be this one:
Some man was sitting in his living room ready to kill himself, but said a prayer to god first, to direct some of his servants to his door to help him with his life. Sure enough two dubs were walking down the street and knocked on his door.
My grandma was paranoid as hell growing up, we couldn't have smurfs, or GI Joes, we also couldn't watch movies like Gremlins, etc. Also she "knew" what all the band names meant, like KISS, AC/DC (Anti Christ Devil's Children), ZZ Top (rolling papers). The only music that wasn't picked on was country and pop, which USUALLY had as much or MORE immoral lyrics than the hard rock or Southern Rock that I listened to. The Black Crowes were totally forbidden because of the song "She Talks to Angels", and their "dark" videos, Madonna was forbidden because she was a "harlot".
All these just make me snicker now.
