2008 District Convention Theme
by R.F. inokay, so it should be very soon when the theme for the 2008 convention will be made public.
what do you think the them will be?
-
R.F.
Rumour has it that it will not be announced until the April Kingdom Ministry
The April KM?? Why in the world would they wait that long? The R&F usually found out around December what the theme for the next year's DC would be.

Moments at the District Assembly You'll Never Forget...
by integ ini'll never forget the assembly in madison, wi.
where some poor sap had to tell everyone that he had become addicted to porno on the net, but through much prayerful contemplation and after confessing to the elders he was able to come to "grips" with it.. good luck to that guy with ever getting a fine sister to marry him.. poor guy.
i really felt sorry for him.

Any videogamers here?
by R.F. inthis is my #1 hobby.
i have a ps2, psp, and xbox.
i was mainly an xbox kind of guy until they completely abandoned it soon after the 360 was released.

I guess you're referring to the "Red Ring of Death" Para lol. That's a small part of the reason I opted for a PS3 instead of a 360.

I bought a 80 gig PS3 a couple weeks ago and I must say i'm quite pleased with the purchase. I haven't played a few of the games that I bought yet but I think it's an awesome system. You can't beat free online play and backwards compatability. I thought the way you can create internal memory cards right into the system is great too. I've been playing Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 online and it's very fun. I'm almost afraid to get into Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion since I hear you can get hooked on it lol.

Believing Everything Someone Tells You
by minimus inare you the type of person that believes everything a person says?.
typically, my radar goes up, especially if a person either brags about all his or her accomplishments or tells you a sob story about how awful their life is.. i was reading here today about how some posters have been upset with others for either feeling someone is fraudulent or is uncaring or caring too much.. the funny thing is that most of us never really know who or what a person/poster is all about.
they could be perfectly upfront and tell you everything in a most truthful way or they could be conning you.

I give people the benefit of the doubt. Usually if they're lying about anything it will show itself if they talk enough. I know there are many liars out there, but I just hate to assume everyone I come accross is.

How much of the bible....
by bite me ini think this is the perfect time and chance to see how much of the bible jw's really get through over the year.
i'd like for whoever can post the verses that were covered each time.
and if possible the length of time spent on that verse.

I'm just interested because some of my friends and family boast about how they study the entire bible bla bla bla.
The thing with that is, they aren't really "studying" the Bible. Take their scheduled weekly Bible reading for instance; they read the assigned chapters, or skim them rather, then go and read what the Watchtower has to say on those verses and use that as the basis for their comments. That's what they're taught to do, and that's why your average JW doesn't really know the context of what a specific chapter or section is about....that's what i've observed locally at least.

I Am Legend JW email
by Descender inso my sister-in-law, who is a pretty hardcore jw, showed me an email that looked like it had been passed around quite a bit, so i figured someone on here had probably seen it.
supposedley it's a picture from the movie "i am legend" where will smith is walking through new york and all the buildings in the background are in ruins except for the bethel building, which stands out, undamaged and clean.
i watched the movie and don't remember seeing anything like that so i just figured that some jw photoshopped it and sent it out to the jw community to show that the bethel building is protected by god even in a post apocaliptical world run over with zombie vampires.

They completely ignore the other buildings in the very far right that also seem to be untouched.
Maybe that means the WTS will eventually buy all of that section of Brooklyn. That's why they're pushing everyone to donate more!
