I don't remember Tyson landing one punch. If I had paid for that fight, I would have been pissed.

I'm from Cali, but WildTurkey is correct (except for the humidity and mosquitos as big as hummingbirds). The food in Louisiana has to be the best in the world, and where else you gonna go for the best outdoor crawfish boil in the world. And lets not forget Mardi Gras, the most fun I've had in my adult life!!

Does religion have to be boring?
by kenpodragon inwhen i left the jehovah's witnesses, i spent a couple of months attending local christian churches.
my wife and i did this because we thought the christian path was still ours.
later we learned that our path went in a far different direction.. .

If you want a lively service, go to an A.M.E. church in your town (African Methodist Episcopal). I attended with my wife and kids, and I can tell you that the services are fun and fast paced. The best part is the music, the first time I attended with my wife, I sat there groovin' to the music and thought to myself that they should have a cover charge at the door. It turns out that they eventually do get their cover charge, but it's worth it.

You guys crack me up. I was just trying to "yank" some chains, I guess I succeeded. Americans don't tend to be so thinned skinned, we're used to being criticized.

Speaking of ice cubes. I had no idea how bass ackwards those jamokes in Europe were, until I took my family to Euro Disney.
What a nightmare. Don't let the movies fool you, those dopes are about 100 years behind us in technology and convenience. One of the first things I do when I check into my hotel room, is to get the ice bucket and get a nice refreshing bucket of ice cubes from the machine in the hall. Well, when I got my family settled into our room in our western themed hotel, the first thing I did was to grab my bucket and head to the ice machine. The machine was humming proudly and loudly, yet when I opened the top, there was no ice, and no evidence that there was ice ever in there. I called the front desk and informed him that the ice machine wasn't working, and the Frog at the front dest told me that yes the ice machine was working and proceeded to hang up on me. Technically he was correct, it was making a humming sound, so I guess it was working.
There wasn't a single place we visited in France that had air conditioning or ice cubes, must be reserved for the rich and famous. And if you didn't attempt to speak to them in French, they treated you very rudely. Like I'm going to learn French for a one week vacation.....not. We'll talk about the smelly hairy French women later.

Before I was born and well into my childhood, the price of a stamp never changed. I think I was about 12 years old when the postal service floated the idea that they were losing money and they needed to raise the price of a stamp from three cents to five cents. I could be wrong about the figures, but I don't think stamps were that expensive back then. It was such a controversial request, they acually had the Postmaster General on 60 minutes to explain that it was absolutly needed to keep the post office running. He also said that the post office "WOULD NEVER RAISE RATES AGAIN,EVER".
Even though I was a kid sitting there watching the Postmaster General on 60 minutes, I remember thinking to myself, this guy is full of shit. I certainly was no little genius, but even as a kid, I had a pretty good bullshit meter. Maybe that's why I never got babtized.

Meetings were boring, door to door was horrible, but conventions were fun for me. My dad and I used to wander around and talk to people and eat.
Back then at the Oakland Coliseum, you used to be able to wander around in the parking lot outside, away from the annoying noise that was coming from the podium in the stadium. That's where they served the food, and it was great. Maybe it just tasted better because we were on the outside, i'm not sure. But I am sure that the cantaloupe with a nice big hunk of vanilla ice cream was one of the best treats that I've ever had in my life.

I couldn't really care about the flag salute. I only wish my parents would have let me salute the flag with the rest of the kids, instead of sitting at my desk like a little freak. The last time I mentioned that on this forum, some lady wrote in that her kids didn't salute the flag and that the rest of the kids in their class thought that was great and that they were special. Have kids changed that much since I went to elementary school in the 1960s or did she send her kids to school on another planet.
What bugs me are the people that want class time set aside for their kids to say a personal prayer. If your little turds are programmed by you that they can't get through a school day without praying, then have them pray during recess or lunch.
