  The fundamental difference between WT chronologists and secular chronologists is that the former give prioroty to the Bible as the innspired Word of God whereas the latter allow higher criticism to put the Bible aside and pay 'lip service' to its testimony. There will always be a conflict between secular records and the Bible record so one must choose which record is the most reliable and accurate especially when it comes to history and chronology.

  Celebrated WT scholars as with the rest of the scholarly community are interested in the progress of knowledge particularly in relation to the Bible and as new research comes to light which causes adjustments or confirmation of current practice then such research is utilized for the benefit of all peoples. Over many decades WT scholars have found it necessary to adjucst or 'fine-tune their chronology and this has also been the case with other chronologists. In short, the only difference between chronologists is the attitude to the Bible.

  We can trust the bible as the inspired word because Jehovah loved us so much to send his only begotten son to die for us, that is how much he loves us, so I think that our heavenly father would make sure that what we have today is surely his inspired word, maybe some little things are lost or not as accurate as the picky mind may try to use to say it isn't Gods letter to us, we have the truth and the theme of the bible has never been adulterated..

  The bible a letter from God our father to his children, why wouldn't he protect it.

  i saw one comment that indicated a jc was, in his case, made up of 6 elders.

  normally i think 3 or 5 is the number.

  i think mine was 3 - though i did not attend the party.. jeff .

  JWfacts...says no one knows what happens when we die, so we live by faith, faith in what...

  what the bible says of course, when youre dead youre dead you know nothing at all. So if one has faith then we believe what the bible says, no one has come back because the bible is right, that is faith.

  the person that wrote that scripture was obviously not dead nor had died, so he got his information of God. So I believe what the bible says.

  She feels like you're attacking her faith and they see little horns coming out of you're head. Sometimes it is best to just come clean. Living on egg shells only makes things worse at least if you're honest about it she and you know where you stand. You have a battle on whatever way you go, so may be best to face each other honestly.

  We've been invited to a JC

  for those of you don't know our story sweet pea and i stopped attending all meetings quite abruptly about 4 months ago.

  since then we have had a few ill-advised conversations with jw friends and family stating our reasons - sometimes in emails.

  also sp emailed a new friend on another forum her experiene with going to a new church.

  Go tell the truth..and leave. You obviously don't want to go to meetings or be part of the congregation, and someone found interest in another belief out side the witnesses.

  So better get it over now than prolong the agony. You dont want it, and who wants freaks like that betraying on the net, better rid of them.

  1914, Generation doctrine belief change!

  i had the dubious pleasure of explaining the 1914 generation change doctrine to a relative who has been a jw for all of his life the other day.

  he didn't even know that there had been a generation change and that the wt was no longer claiming that those alive in 1914 would still be alive when armageddon struck.. however, he said he would only believe me if i could tell him the exact date of the watchtower that explained this change.. though i know it is 1995, i do not know the exact date/issue and he refused to research it claiming it would show lack of faith on his part if he questioned his beliefs....but he said he would look it up if i told him which issue it was.. so, please, could anyone direct me to the exact issue in which this world shattering event was revealed?.

  i remember, many jws, especially elderly ones being shocked at this revelation, but obviously this particular relative was not concentrating at the time!!

  Don'tcha' just love how when it's time for a monumental, 180 degree retreat from the big, fat, honkin' lies of the WTS - it been "Jehovah's people" at fault?

  But when it is "new light" - it's from "Jehovah's Faith and Discreet Slave"?

  This has been the biggest problem I have had, and the reason I am here.

  A question...how do you have the statement in a yellow block, how do i do that.
