Carla you are right, no real JW would say Praise the Lord, but I never said I was a real JW.

Why I'm thankful for the ministry...
by LayingLow ini was sitting here thinking about it, and i'm sure some would disagree, but....
1. the ministry exposed me to alternative interpretations to scriptures that i likely never could have gotten past.
first-born in col 1:15, meaning ruler or heir instead of first creation).

The ministry hinders many people from becoming JW's in the first place
well if most did then then Jesus would be lying. Matt7:13-14, its the message they reject its not personal.

I'm thankful for their ministry, they directed me to Jesus through their magazines, I was able to get a thirst to look at the bible and then to read it, I found Jesus thank's to the Jehovahs Witnesses preaching and bible litrature. Praise the Lord.

Make no mistake, this is not the unforced sharing of faith with others. This is a machine, and you are one tiny little gear in it all.
little ol me a gear in it, I never said I was, but I can't see any harm for this group to go around with interesting magazines that direct people to Jesus. Praise the lord.

they do help direct people to the bible. cant see how that's so wrong, it also mentions missionaries, so does that then include missionaries of other groups, or anyone that sells bibles.
I think your being petty.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult and here's why I think so
by B_Deserter inwhen most people think of "cult" they think of the people's temple, the branch davidians, or heaven's gate.
many also want to put jehovah's witnesses, mormons, and scientologists into this group.
i don't agree with that because there is one main difference between true cults and high-control groups like jws:.

I think it is becoming cultish.

A desperate time for JW as realisation inevitable dawns .....
by Gill inin time, slowly and inevitably, a lot of jws will realise that they have been conned.
they may deny it at first but eventually a substantial amount will discover that they have lost their lives, their talents and their potential to of all things, a book publishing company!.
so, what will their reactions be?

Wizard says...I can predict that, either the people are going to get pxxxed off and leave in droves (and more Danny Haszards are on the horizon), or they are going to be so dumbed down by being told exactly what to think.
I think both...we are being dumbed down, the literature and study articles are like for newly associated ones or for complete robots and babies. The biggest complaint is about the boring childish studies.

Afternoon Gill ...so true. There can't be any right-minded/thinking/intelligent adults left who actually BELIEVE this WT crap - I'm aware of longtime (adult) JWs who miss most meetings due to various mental problems...Old JWs, in my experience, just question their own ability to keep up with the Org's changes...and a little like Brooks in 'The Shawshank Redemption' who's institutionalised and can't survive without being organised by the the prison system (tops himself). I wonder how the average age of a dub has changed over the years?
this actually happened to a brother recently he hung himself, couldn't cope looking after himself.

Do Elders pay attention to who's missing the meetings and how often?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inelders are very busy before and after the meetings.
they have many parts during the ministry school.
they have elder meetings after the meetings are over.

Totally depends on the elder or the presiding overseer may make it a point for the elders to keep an eye out. I find that mostly it depends on the elder, we have one that just sits and looks at peoples reaction to the the talks, he looks around at the brothers all through the meeting like he is suspicious, really is a horror out in field service, especially picks on the single sisters, they have no man to answer to. He's such a control freak.
