Why Women Are Treated Second Class In This Organization?
by AvocadoJake inthe best bible scholars have been women in my realm of this religious world.
the women study their husbands watchtowers, prepare the parts, write their talks, put their ties on, get the shave cream out of their ears.
it must be hard and you must have the patiences of job, to be able to listen to, the many arrogant men and how you will (if you are a female annointed.

the society fears women, they look at things in a more compassionate way and this opens up for complaints about unloving brothers, and the way elders treat others, its unity that the society holds most dear, and fear of that unity breaking is real concern, women I have found are better teachers, they are also much more zealous in the field ministry.
notice that most of gossiping articles are always directed at women, dress codes usually always at women. Single women in particular get a bad deal in the org, as they are on the bottom of the pile, so to speak. The society knows there are not enough single brothers for the sisters, but notice that in WT articles, in never says that, it just marry only in the Lord.
The WT is in a lot of trouble there are not enough mature me to take the lead, an women out number them.
Also a lot of brothers have inadequacies and don't like being out shined by a women with more bible knowledge.

Is there any way around this? (Preaching when you don't believe)
by venusinfauxfurs ini figure i can do more to wake friends and family up on the inside than the outside and i didn't come to that decision without a great deal of pain.
i know it's not "the truth" but it isn't a bad life for me,and i still very much believe in god.
the witnesses aren't right but neither are the mormons, the catholics, etc and i have other family devoted to both those faiths.

Stick to what you do believe (unless you don't believe in God anymore, then just quit) speak of Jesus parables, sermon on the mount, if you believe in the kingdom still, speak of the freedom and justice the kingdom will bring, end of suffering etc
If the issue of 1914 arises, usually say this is what the society or WT teaches at present. Try to avoid bible studies.

JWs Depression and Suicide
by 00DAD insince jehovah's witnesses supposedly have "the truth" and are part of god's visible organization living in a "spiritual paradise" you would naturally expect that they should be the happiest people on earth!
this clearly is not the case.
wha happened?

I know of three in the past two years, two in my KH and another of a friend who was DF. And I know for a fact that JW see psychologists on a regular basis, one group is a whole family. JW are not getting the help they need within the org, or from the magazines.
One reason I believe that mental illness and unhappiness is rife in the org, is because the feelings of worthlessness, not do enough, never being able to please and being judged by the hours ones put in, the WT religion is an abuse controlling one, that effects lots of JW in the long run, many being told they will never grow old and die, finding themselves fifty forty yrs later having to work even longer to support themselves.
The GB of JW should be taken to court, I wish someone could some how sue the pants of these crazy rulers, for misleading lying and abusing the many innocent JW that in all good faith thought they were doing the right thing. How many have died because of their nutty rules on organ transplants for one. Some JW no doubt have a chemical imbalance and this religion wouldn't help while other develop depression because of the religion and its control on their lives. Alcohol abuse is not uncommon with in either. The only ones that seem content are those that have high positions and get glory, or are looked up to, these include bethelites, lawyers, and of course the infamous GB, elders have a lot on their hands, and are usually the fall guys when things go wrong. There is obiously corruption in this religion, but at the end of the day what goes round comes round, or if you spit at the wind it will come right back at you.
Some JW know its not the truth or they have very strong doubts, but are trapped because of family, some being in the relgion from birth and generations of JW in the family. It is very sad, and we should not look down on those that are suffering rather we should pray for them.
It is a business and an abusive religion based on fear and control and money.

WT: Only JWs and idiots will survive Armageddon...
by Alfred insince there is compelling and overwhelming evidence that jehovah is the true and living god, creator and supreme sovereign of the universe, the plea of ignorance cannot be admitted in its full latitude except for idiots.
the atheists cannot plead ignorance.
the agnostics cannot plead ignorance.

The GB like to make JW feel real special with all the sugar they put in their magazines stating that only JW will survive armageddon, its another false teaching along with one has to be part of the organization to survive.
One way to keep the flock in fear and looking to the them instead of Jesus.

Swedish government declines to give JW financial support
by InquiryMan inquite recently, watchtower in sweden applied for governmental financial support, as they are entitled to as a registered religious community.
however, the government declined to accept the application, stating that the reason was that the jws do not adhere to democratic values and standards and do not support mainstream values.. the witnesses are upset, because they feel discriminated against.
they state that the financial issue is not the real issue, but to be treated in a similar way as other religious communities.. they have appealed the decision and plan to send a report explaining the witnesses views in more detail.. the branch office chose the religious, pentecostal (assembly of god) newspaper "dagen" to make an interview.. here is the photo report of the article.. .

there not suppose to treated as other religions, they are suppose to be persecuted for the sake of the truth. Why do they want it both ways.
no doubt they are upset about the money.
they are bludgers, why don't they just help the brothers out themselves after all they have the heaps of money all donated by brothers like those ins sweden.

Could the Governing Body be done away with?
by Aussie Oz ini posted this idea on another thread but perhaps it is worth its own discussion.. could the gb be done away with?
seriously.. they came to be, out of a troubled time.
there was much opposition as we know to the whole gb idea at the time.

TEARY SAID...
p.s., you DO realize that many Halls have PHYSICAL libraries right? Teary's old Hall had all of the Watchtower bound volumes going back to 1879, in addition to many other 50+ year old books. If the Witnesses were deliberately trying to 'cover up' their history, then why allow the Kingdom Halls to have these big physical libraries?
________________
must have been awhile since you attended a meeting then, most KH have got ride of all old pulications of Russel and Rutherford, they simply were told to take them out of the libraries, this happened in the early ninties.
We have always been warned not to read older publications as many things are no longer taught.
It was when the internet came on the scene that the WT decided on this. I have only seen the older publications at bethel, and one in a coastal KH they had a couple of Ruthefords books.
The WT will select which books will be on their archives. There is no way they would have anything that was to critical of them. They just don't want the r/f going on the internet ready any old thing.
Many of the old books have caused b/s to be critical of the WT and some have been stumbled by the obserdity of doctrines, flip flops, and out right prophecies.
