  What is Truth?

  if one 'googles' the phrase, you get 167,000,000 hits!.

  'bing' it, and you get 129,000,000 hits.. here is a sampling of opinion from just the first page of google hits.. 1] douglas groothuis, ph.d., teaches philosophy at denver seminary.

  Could it be that "truth" is just a property, a property of a system (an object). Just as length

  or momentum, diameter or circumference are just properties of a system. Could we not ask

  "what is length?" Or "what is length made of?"

  Maybe truth, like length, changes according to the system of which it is a part of. And like length,

  "truth" would change as the system changed and still be "true."

  Black and White Thinking: the ENEMY of Intelligent Thought

  something is true if it matches reality.. a true statement cannot contradict reality.. but, the mind can interpret anything into its opposite.

  all it takes is black and white thinking and a belief things should be otherwise.. if jeffrey dahmer's mother thought he was a good son, then, he could not possibly be the guy who is eating people.. if o.j.simpson was a fine, upstanding fella with a great personality, then, he couldn't possibly have brutally murdered two people with a large serrated knife.

  a ton of proof means nothing when belief is everything.. black and white thinking won't permit any facts to slip by the core belief and become refuted.. are you guilty of black and white thinking?.

  Terry, very good post.

  "WHEN was the last time you were wrong.....and CHANGED your opinion, belief or actions???"

  It's often that I tell myself, "if I knew then what I know now." I just wish I knew now what

  I'm bound to learn in the future, wrong ideas or actions, or inactions, that I,m guilty of now.

  My consolation is that I'm trying now to reason and be logical in my thoughts and actions.

  Of course, I realize my reason and logic may not conform to others reason and logic, but

  I'll gladly and quietly listen to what they have to say and hopefully enjoy it.

  started ressurecting the dead but because some of the anointed are still alive here on Earth

  "When does the Lord 'arrive'? When he comes to take the last of his anointed bride class to their heavenly home."

  So, is the WT saying that if some of the anointed survive the BIG A into the new system (paradise), not yet

  taken to heaven, then JC hasn't arrived yet? The thousand year reign of JC will have commenced even though He

  hasn't arrived yet? That's what I'm understanding they're saying.

  Hello all, so much interesting info. Do you remember how, as JW's we all looked forward to the "end", armageddon?

  We weren't afraid of it's "so,so near" approach, we wanted it, the sooner the better (nutty). Well, I believe that these

  Iranians are as fanatical about their beliefs as are JW's, they don't fear "Al-Malhamah Al-Kubrah" (armageddon) any more

  than JW's fear it.

  When people are hurting,suffering, they long for the end to come and for "God's kingdom" to come and bring paradise. I

  believe these Moslems believe armageddon will occur in the vicinity of Syria, Damascus specifically, and that the Messiah

  will return at that time at which time He will destroy the unbelieving armies of Gog og Magog (the western powers) and

  restore peace and brotherhood to the planet.

  So, remembering how I used to think as a JW, I think Iranians are thinking, BRING IT ON, we want armageddon to start, NOW!

  So, how do you deal with such a people? They also expect persecution from enemies of their faith, even death. Damned if you

  attack them, damned if you don't. Now, since I don't believe the end of the world is just around the corner, I think something,

  some action, should take place soon, by the U.N., all the nations of the world, not a particular country.

  I alway's enjoy reading your posts. They are,to me, reasoned,logical and well thought out--and

  easy to comprehend, thanks. I don't think you want to go back "up the river", "the big house", "the hive."

  "Jonathan Livingston seagull's" can't abide being in a cult, they need to be free and to H&!! with

  forced servitude and falsehood.

  if the wts likes to brag about anything other than themselves and how great they are, it is their boasts about their triumphs in the united states supreme court.

  they brag about how much the people of the united states owes them and their god jehovah for their part in championing freedom of speech and religion in america.. we've seen all of those supreme court cases paraded about in various wts publications, haven't we?.

  i recently found one of them that is nowhere to be found on my wt cd rom.
