I sometimes wonder if the writer(s) known as Paul ever read any of the gospels.

Has the WT ever apologized for changing their stance on something?
by Left in the Cold ini'm in the middle of reading coc.
it's very eye opening.
but on thinking about how the gb finally changed their stance on allowing civil service instead of prison when a christian was face with military service, it makes me wonder if the wt ever apologizes for any reversal of beliefs it imposes?

1980 "With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of mans existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, There were other statements published that implied that such realisation of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a build-up of the expectation already initiated....In saying anyone, the Watchtower included all disappointed ones of Jehovah's Witnesses, hence including persons having to do with the publication of the information that contributed to the build-up of hopes centred on that date. (Watchtower, March 15, 1980, p. 17-18)
Don't be fooled. This is no apology. It is in passive voice, with no "we" or "I" accepting responsibility and expressing sorrow and regret. Someone else is to blame, and hopefully they regret it. This paragraph tells you everything you need to know about the true nature of the men running the Watchtower. It is run by unrepentent reprobate men.

Yeah, Hi!
Here I am paying a visit to some Ancient Worthies in sunny San Diego.
Abraham says hi to all you folks, and David, well I couldn't pry him off of some trollop he picked up from Mission Beach, along with some crabs.

Are They Cynically Shutting Down The Organization?
by metatron ini've raised this idea before but recent events seem to support it.
changes in the watchtower may be guided by more than a need for cash flow: they may simply be liquidating/shutting it down as discreetly as possible.. of course, this doesn't mean they stop working on their upstate ny country club - but it could mean that the throrough going exposure and disproof of their beliefs on the internet, when it emerged, took many of them by surprize, as it did many of us!
after awhile, they generally gave up trying to make any sense of their doctrines - and coupled with cash flow issues - moved towards a quiet retreat.. take a look at a few things:.

They can exhaust their supply of dupes and will then
migrate to some other planet to find new victims.

Similarities between Roman Catholics and Jehovah`s Witnesses
by smiddy inboth claim to be the sole path to god (or did at some point ).
both claim to reach back to first century christians ,( though jw`s are a bit ambiguous about this).
the r.c church has a pope , the j.w.`s have a governing body ,both providing spiritual food to the faithful.

So let's see...the Watchtower has fooled
1 1874-1914
2 1914-1954
3 1954-1994
4 1984-today
going on 4 generations of people into believing thet the end would come and they would never die, and they expect the latest batch of suckers to not get a little bit impatient about chasing rainbows.
Amazing.

Are you a writer?
by Hortensia ini think that at least a few of you are writers, maybe more.
i mean honest-to-god working-for-money writers, writers with a small "w" rather than a capital "w." my experience is that writing is a lot like theater: a few stars at the top making the bucks, a middle level with lots of people who work hard and don't make much, and then a lot more hopeful people at the bottom who are trying to make a living writing with no luck so far.. tell me about it.
what kind of writing do you do?

I write various things, like web content and reviews. I wrote and published a computer booklet in 1984, printed it myself and made a profit from selling it. I am looking to repeat the experience with e-books.
My advice for those like Cedars, keep writing those articles that come easily enough, then when you get a dozen or more you can compile and edit them and you will have your book. That works for non fiction. Many writers like Asimov have published books that were an anthology of their columns and essays.

Life is tough when you are a big one hit wonder, or was on a hit series that has since faded into nostalgialand, leaving you stranded in typecastville.
You take whatever work you can get, pitching unremarkable products. I have pity for the poor sap who ends up that way.

Off-topic: hand shaking
by Libelle inthis is totally unrelated to anything jw, but it's the only group i'm in online with such a mix of men and women, so i'm asking.
what's your experience with hand shaking?.
me, when i meet someone for the first time, i offer to shake their hand.

It's a practice with pagan roots and is not done by any honest hearted lover of Jehovah. Jehovah's people greet with a scriptural sanctioned kiss.
1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

articles on jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower corporations, as well as cognitive dissonance, et al.
have made it a great place to help those that want to free their minds, which includes me lol!.

I saw a $5 beg banner when I looked at an article.
So I clicked on it and donated $10.
Was I mind controlled into it?
