Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

I read the words of Robert King
He really made me think
His words were like a water spring
I took a long long drink
Then I read Perimino
I knew it was the truth
Ah, here's the way I need to go
I felt like dancing on the roof
Then I came to JWD
The thoughts here were so strong
The leavers , faders felt like me
How could the GB be so wrong?
We are the FD Slave
The generation overlaps
new light over which to rave
rabbits out of magic hats?
Which way to go
I have to think and think
I really do not know
It seems I'm always on the brink
I am lost and in fear
It isn't right
The truth should be clear
like a beacon bright
Should I stay or should I go?
what course is best for me?
it really is so hard to know
I pray on bended knee

"...and I heard that the end was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo close you could smell it."
My mother passed seven years ago, but in her last few years (after hearing all my life about being in the last days) she always said 'we're on the fringe" of the end of things, I often wonder what she would say now in 2013, about 7 or 8 years after being on the "fringe".
***************************
Yeah, must have been one of those long fringe skirts.
It's like ....."Armaggedon is round the corner". It's the longest corner I've ever come across.
Actually it drives me round the bend when I hear that.

Brothers who were held back from being elder for stupid reasons?
by toto555 indo you know of any cases where brothers didn't get to be elder for a stupid/bogus reason even though they otherwise qualified?
do you think some/most appointments are politicially motivated?
how much do you think politics plays in the appointment process versus merit?

Quote : Room 215 " If any one were "turned down" from being an Elder, they were done an immense favor.
That is so true....
I was an Elder once and when I look back I can see how full of myself I was.
Huddling in secret Elders meetings, going to Elders school, giving the congregtion needed "counsel".
The adulation after giving a public talk. Great stuff !
But I stepped down, and now I can see how much I was caught up in that "position" thinking.
Now I can avoid those deadly Elders meetings, no school to have to attend where we are told to be loving and caring while at
the same time being indoctrinated with all the rules that they say they don't have.
No " shepherding calls" which were masked as such but really were done to lay down the law to those not
doing what was considered necessary. ( Get your 10 hours in !).
I got human again.

Looooooooooong Prayers...
by likeabird inlet's have a bit of a laugh.. .
who of you rolled your eyes when brother never ending prayers was called up to give the closing prayer?.
who of you then proceeded to tap your feet, fidget loudly or start doing balancing acts off the back of the chair in front of you while waiting for it to end?.

Some just don't get it, so after a mammoth prayer, I usually say " thanks for giving two public talks today"
or "Is this a new arrangement, to give an extra 10 min item after the service meeting?"
I usually get a blank look but, hopefully, what I am trying to tell them hits home later.
( going to the meetingzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

Dear Mugs Brothers
Donate donate don't procrastinate
Give us more and don't be late
What you give is never enough
Makes your life hard? That just tough
Contribute with all your might
or become a bethelite
Don't leave an assembly, pockets full
Put all in the box and watch us drool
We need those heavy travel expenses
to give Zone talks and bring all to their senses
Let's go round the world once more time
It's really fun (when you know it's a crime!)
Catch us eating plain old cake
Oh no, we can have 5 star steak
Treat us like Kings, don't stumble
We are The Slave, so discreet and humble
Giving to us is giving to Jehovah
So you should do it over and over
Don't think that your money will be waste
We will make sure it is used ...in haste
Thanks for the funds that we can use
to further kingdom interests (and buy our Gucci shoes)
Don't hesitate to donate
remember ...we just hate to wait.

I wrote this poem a while back but with recent developments ( noo light ) I felt it was even more appropriate.
When I was a kid, it was all very clear
Armageddon is soon, the end so near.
You will not grow old, nor will you die,
Was it all a terrible lie?
You don't need a good job nor a career
Just preach preach preach and pioneer,
No marriage, no job, and no kids
These were the words by which I lived
Just take the message from door to door
It doesn't matter if you're really poor
Just take the message, it's what matters
Don't worry if your life is in tatters.
The Governing Body,they know best.
They work hard and never rest.
They tell us the truth, it's straight from Jehovah
That went through my mind, over and over.
Time has passed, and now I'm old
But I did as I was told.
Now I am poor and have much grey hair
But no money, no pension, is it fair?
What do I do now? I am so confused
My faith is weak and I have no clues.
I still take the message from door to door
But now I wonder, what 's it all for?
When I was a kid it was all very clear
Armageddon is soon, the end so near.
You will not grow old, nor will you die,
Was it all a terrible lie?

All this tough talk probably comes from his military training/ combat duty in Vietnam.
He no doubt thinks a dose of " get out on the preaching work especially on Sundays ( you inactive wimps) " is what
is needed to spur on the troops.
"Yes Sir!" Three bags( of magazines) full.... Sir !
