Rough day here too. Another sleepless night in Louisiana and I'm determined to talk myself into a better mood today. I think I'll go shopping for a Christmas tree... that always cheers me up. My cats love to sleep underneath them.

No natural affection
by Renegade ini find it strange that the witnesses often rant about natural affection.
but the thing is, when people are disfellowshipped, in most cases the persons family cut off any contact with them, they stray to the other side of the road when they see them etc.
now, this must mean that a witness family only loves you for your behaviour not for who you are.

I truly hate the word "worldly"... I have never been a witness... my in-laws are and when my mother-in-law would introduce my daughter to any of the "sisters or brothers", she would always refer to my sweet baby as her worldly granddaughter. One of these days I'm going to get up the nerve to tell my story... but in the meantime, coming here is cathartic for me. It's nice to know that people trapped in this cult actually open up their eyes and see the "truth" for what it is.

hardest conversation of my life
by metaspy inmoments ago, i talked to my mom.. i told her that i was taking some time off from going to meetings and service.. the conversation went down hill from there.. as her usual she just dismissed my reasons as if they meant nothing.. i pointed to the child molestations as my main reason for leaving.. "you are being over-sensitive", "jehovah takes care of things in his own time", "rely on jehovah".
those were the catch phrases of the conversation.. a new one was: "what have you been reading?".
i have a hard time standing up to my mother.

When I read some of these things that "loving" parents put their children through, it just makes my blood boil. Don't you let her lay any guilt on you. You did not turn your back on God, you simply opened up your heart to him.
I am not a JW, but my in-laws are, so I can sympathize with what you are going through. Stand your ground and let your mom know who is in the driver's seat. Dare to be real!

I feel sorry for the medical staff that had to idly stand by and watch this young woman die, knowing they quite possibly could have saved her life.
Although I have never been a JW, this is reminding me of when organ transplants were forbidden and many died by refusing them and remained "faithful", while others were shunned and disfellowshipped over this infraction. Now miraculously, it is allowed and not considered cannibalism. "Old light=new light, and what was once wrong is now considered right.
The blame for the shedding of innocent blood should fall directly on the shoulders of "the powers that be" in this satanic organization for misleading and tragically ending the lives of so many people.

Choosing and Setting Up a Christmas Tree
by WTWizard inok, now it's getting closer to decision time.
now is the time for anyone that hasn't already decided on what kind of tree, and how to decorate it, to do so.. natural trees are popular.
they offer real scents, and they do not have to be stored.

I love the smell of a fresh cut tree in the house. It's like bringing the outdoors in and every year we get a Douglas Fir (it's my favorite) and since we live in Louisiana, I usually wait until about the 10th of December to purchase it... because at best, they only last about 2 weeks. My cats just adore sleeping underneath it.

The name Jehovah
by sweetums ini was wondering how many of you think that the name jehovah is actually correct?
to be honest with you, everytime i hear it i cringe.
i had that name shoved down my throat for the past 30 years by my witness mother-in-law.

You are making perfect sense and that is my point! Plus, I think there is a reason for his name not being revealed...
