When has Science Ever been proven wrong by the Bible?
by gaiagirl inthe watchtower sunday made a claim to the effect that when science conflicts with the bible, the bible has always been proven to be correct.
if i had been there, i would have asked "could you provide some specific examples"?.
i'm thinking that reality is actually the other way, science always disproves the bible.

Just throw in a little "just look how screwed up the world is" for good measure.
"Mankind can't solve our problems, so that means that God has to do something, and soon!"
Lord how many times have we heard that?
maybe you can somehow squeeze in, "some things we wont know till the new system, we just need to get there!" Everyone in the room will smile and nod in agreement and then you can move onto the next paragraph without addressing the issue.

The FDS is the Evil Slave that browbeats those trying to do a good job for the master. They've taken advantage of the delay (the Armageddon predicted which never seems to come!) to abuse the little ones and pressure them with great burdens that make no sense.
2 years ago if someone had said this to me I would have been furious! And visciously attacked them through WT pre-programmed defense mechanisms.
I have reached a point that I am so certain of the WTS falseness (is that a word?) that statements like these almost demand a visceral "AMEN!"
As for the article: The WTS seems to even more so, stress the falseness of apostates by "their conduct" and draws out the JW's need for warm and fuzzy harping about the "spiritual paradise" they now enjoy.
Do we see what is happening here? No argument agains the apostate alogations, no teaching of truth. The WTS side-steps the issues and uses lauresls and nostalgia to create this illusion of truth based on a "feel good" fluff -

Personal Decision,
by PureAlb inhi people,,,what i mean about personal decision is that, if someone wants to believe what they really want, what will the problem be, so why do some people have to question their beliefs and their type of life.
wouldn't it be better if we try to respect everyones life, no meter how they do it.
hope that you all get my point...

You just have a troubled conscience because you really want to be a part of the religion but it's this new doctrine that is hurting your conscience - not anything that you personally have done. The religion changed.
I havent changed at all. Not one bit. Why am I the wrong/bad/sinful one? Why was I "clean" before god before and yet now, having changed nothing I am destined for eternal destruction?
Or maybe I wasnt clean before but if I change I will be?
But then everyone was unclean before too right?
Gods One Channel was unitedly unclean, Sinful in Jehovahs eyes?
Teaching falsehoods in His name?
But they are clean now, right?
So then they have been sinful and unclean for a 130 years?Funny how the bible never changes, but if I only read the bible I am an apostate. The WTS changes weekly, but if I only read the WT I have "Jehovah's smile of approval".
33 years in cult and I believed every word for 32 of'em. What a waste of my youth....

Well I just got the Aug 15 Study edition. I flipped through it for about 10 seconds and found the word apostate. Big surprise.
In all my years as a JW I have never seen such a constant, unending, hammering of apostates. It the old days you only talked about apostates before District Conventions.
Now its every week it seems.
I imagine 'V' will have some fuel for a Watchtower Comments with this one..........

Why I will NEVER be an elder again
by stillajwexelder inso the po confirmed what many on this board already know.
at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

I guess they really do realize that they can only hang onto the ones with no education and no internet access.
exactly. The internet coupled with free (independant) thinking can/will mean only one thing - recognizing the true nature of the FDS, ie: not Gods channel, and ultimately the educated free-thinker leaving "the truth".
I worked many years manual labour with little or not internet/computer access. Its easy to avoid "apostate" sites when your never on a comp. But as soon as I was in front of a comp all day long my curiousity got the best out me and BAM! My eyes were opened. Keep the R&F stupid, bored and uneducated and they will follow the WTS to their death.

Why we must obey the F&DS - according to this "brother"
by bud2114 insome may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.
a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.
at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.

Good job on your reply. This is a perfect example of how JW's blabber out unsubstantiated rhetoric from the platform and the R&F just eat it up.
Only minimal research is actually needed to completely undermine the foundation of everything they say - yet the R&F never do it. Not even that little bit of research. They choose to be naive.Scriptures are considered only to reinforce a predetermined line of thought - not to really evaluate the context and meaning
can we really appreciate the depth of this statement? A JW would say "of course! We use scriptures to support our teachings, not like the Catholics!" or something to that effect.
Yet we see this fact with open eyes/minds. It is so clear. So obvious the means of deception employed by the WTS. -

EXPLAIN THIS.......Real, mystical, or what?
by journey-on inall the talk on recent threads about what is real and what is beyond the explainable made me decide to reveal something that happened to me.
i usually keep these things close to the vest, because i truly do believe in the phrase: "he that knows does not speak.
he that speaks does not know.

I will take it. COINCIDENCE. Never automatically assume that such a thing cannot be
coincidence. Humans tend to make a bigger to-do out of simple anecdotal evidence that
really points to coincidence.you know I agree with you but at the same time.....
who here has not had a sense of Deja vu? On occasion I get these amazing senses of familiarity, almost replays of events I somehow feel I have experienced. It always weirds me out cause in my mind I say its nothing, but I cannot deny the sensation of reality at that moment.
Why do street lights always go out as I drive under them? I could not tell you how often this happens to me. Over many years and many different vehicles I almost DAILY have street light go off as I drive under them. I told my wife this and she said I was crazy. Then as we drove around over the next few days when a light would go out I would say "there you go, light went out" it got to the point where she was weirded out! Is it nothing?? Most likely. But why the hell does this happen to me constanty.
One time I pulled into a parking lot with 2 lights at the entrance, as I pulled in 1 went out. I made a "U" turn and when I went to pull out the second light went out. It was so dark I couldnt see to navigate out of the parking lot. Another time I was driving down the Allen expressway, 1 by 1 - 4 lights went out as I drove under them. Reflections of light off my vehicle triggering the light sensors? Probably. But this happens in all different vehicles to me.Okay, I'm crazy I know. But everytime it happens I get weirded out.............

June 3-08 #4 Talk - Evolution - A Scientific Dilemma

Thanks Wife... I just wish you had posted that an hour earlier!! Thanks anyway though.
I got through it. You can read if you want. Try not to puke. - Oh, nice comic strip Gary!
No.4: Evolution—A Scientific Dilemma (rs pp. 121-3 1)
“EVOLUTION is as much a fact as the heat of the sun,” This statement was made by the prominent evolutionary scientist Professor Richard Dawkins in his article “The Illusion of Design”.
Of course, experiments and direct observations prove that the sun is hot. But do experiments and direct observations provide the teaching of evolution with the same undisputed support?
Many scientists have noted that over time, the descendants of living things do (WT said may - I said "do") change slightly. Charles Darwin called this process “descent with subsequent modification.
These changes have been observed and recorded, and of course employed by plant and animal breeders for example. Hence these changes can be considered facts.
However, scientists attach to these slight changes the term “microevolution.” The name however implies what many scientists assert—that these minute changes furnish the proof for a phenomenon that no one has observed, this they call macroevolution.
The teaching of macroevolution rests on three main assumptions:
1. Mutations provide the raw materials needed to create new species.
2. Natural selection leads to the production of new species.
3. The fossil record documents macroevolutionary changes in plants and animals.
The question is: Is the evidence for macroevolution so strong that it should be considered a fact?
A “scientific method” of determining facts can be explained this way:
1. Observe what happens
2. Based on those observations, form a theory as to what may be true;
3. Test the theory by further observations and by experiments
4. Watch to see if the predictions based on the theory are fulfilled.
But can this the method be followed by those who believe in and teach evolution?
Turn with me please to Job 38:4-7 and we’ll read this together - Where did you happen to be when I founded the earth? Tell [me], if you do know understanding. 5 Who set its measurements, in case you know, Or who stretched out upon it the measuring line? 6 Into what have its socket pedestals been sunk down, Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars joyfully cried out together, And all the sons of God began shouting in applause?
****No doubt all of us here have no problem with the words we have just read, we know that it was possibly billions of years in the past the Jehovah created the earth, even the universe! But what of scientists? How can these “observe” the creation of the universe?
Interestingly evolutionist Loren Eiseley acknowledged: “After having chided the theologian for his reliance on myth and miracle, science found itself in the unenviable position of having to create a mythology of its own: namely, the assumption that what, after long effort, could not be proved to take place today had, in truth, taken place in the primeval past.”
These words were spoken over 50 years ago, and they still ring true today don’t they?
Yet some persons endeavor to blend belief in God with evolution, or theistic evolution, saying that God created life by means of evolution, that he brought into existence the first primitive life forms and that then higher life forms, including man, were produced by means of evolution.
Well what does the bible say about this? Let’s read together Genesis 1:20-21
And God went on to say: “Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls and let flying creatures fly over the earth upon the face of the expanse of the heavens.” 21 And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind
****This statement here, implies that there is a limit to the amount of variation that can occur within a “kind.” Both the fossil record and modern research support the idea that the fundamental categories of plants and animals have changed little over vast periods of time.
Genesis does not teach that the universe, earth and life were created in a short period of time in the relatively recent past. Rather, the description in Genesis of the creation of the universe and the appearance of life on earth harmonizes with many recent scientific discoveries.
Yet due to their philosophical beliefs, many scientists reject the Bible’s declaration that God created all things. The Bible book of Genesis however, deomonstrates Moses wrote that the universe had a beginning and that life appeared in stages, progressively, over periods of time. We could ask ourselves: How could Moses gain access to such scientifically accurate information some 3,500 years ago? Well there is one logical explanation isn’t there?
Indeed we can be confident it was the creator of the universe Himself, Jehovah God, that these things were written down and like Moses we too can have faith in our creator.
