What's running through the grapevine

so i was talking with an girlfriend that i had (actually the only friend i had in 'the truth').

we have recently reconnected, and she's still on the fence as to whether or not to go back into the org.

however, her aunt, an elder's wife and all-around snot rocket, let her know what was going on in the truth (i'm guessing to get her to come back full-time cause 'look at all that's happening, and it's the end!

i think it's all about $$.

even though bethel poverty volunteers are donating their time, they're also being housed, taking showers together in steaming hot water while lathering themselves with soap in all the right places and dropping the soap.

most of these bethelites are uneducated and need a lot of hands on supervision, thus more soap, housing, food charges...kind of like what it cost to keep people in prison. Hmm, it would be interesting to know what it does cost to maintain these people at bethel...and compare it to the prison population. cough cough, turn to the right.

yes, i forgot medical care, dental care, it's all cha-ching...so downscaling print production and workforce opens up A LOT of real estate that can be cashed in on in one of the most expensive markets in the united states.

so, i bet it's money, but the wtbts loves to put a spin on these things, why they don't anyone educated to think to hard on this stuff, just nod their bobbleheads and keep recruitin'.

just recently had one elder come around to see what what happening.

don't you hate it how they think they can just come around without calling first.

damn that annoys me.. anyway, he said whats happening mate, we haven't seen you.. i mention 607 and how secular works dont support this.

e-mailing back and forth for days about the qb, and he only told me today that he had not even noticed anything new or different about this material until i had brought it up.

he says it would be "absurd" to think the fds mean all literature and web sites other than the wt ones are not to be used for anything, but that the context of the article needs to be taken into consideration.

that the context is key.

a friend of mine gave a talk in another hall and stressed how higher education is important and had it all backed up with wtbts publications, you know, the ones that flip flop back and forth, and the whole elder body asked him into the back room after he gave the talk and drilled him about exactly where he got his information.

he had an answer and could back up his whole public talk and they backed off.

here here, i'm so glad i don't subject myself to that crap anymore and the only reason i have to think about it is b/c i have family still 'in' who i like to reason with in the hopes they clear out and also so they absolutely understand why i'm long gone.

don't know about the original, but nick cave and the bad seeds recorded it as a b-side.

i searched and Billy Whiteman And His Orchestra looks like they recorded it in the 1930's...but it may have been a standard that was written years earlier.

i highly recommend the nick cave cover version....and now interested in hearing the whiteman version.

Billions of Lives Depend On This?

the greatest work of all time, never to be repeated, is supposedly done by jehovah's witnesses.

of course you know i'm referring to the door to door work they take part in.

so many lives are at stake and your life is dependent on if you "accept the good news" that they preach.. i surely don't believe this anymore.

when i was a kid i perfected the mediocre door knock, light enough not to be heard too far into the house, yet hard enough to look good if i was working with an elder.....who would promptly ring the doorbell w/in 20 seconds, so maybe i didn't perfect it.

What kinds of fading techniques have you used?

some of you may have seen my post in jedi masters topic but if you haven't i will re-post it here:.

i'm new to the site, my wife and i are are doing the fade we still have a son and daughter-in-law who are still in so we don't want to get hung.

i was an elder for 25 years and was removed because i didn't agree with the gb on an important issue and spoke privately and with trust to another elder who broke that trust and told the other elders and co about my disagreement.

so much bad stuff happened over the years and one day, during another uncalled for witch hunt the elders were doing on my wife and i, we got our publisher cards out of that congregation (w/ circuit overseer intervention and a fib that we were about to travel out of country for a long time for work and wanted to stay w/ an old congregation). i stopped cold turkey, i knew i was never going to be a jw again.

my wife kept going. if anyone asked about me she'd tell them to mind their own business.

that was in 1999. it's still one of the top decisions i've ever made, though i've had to work through some rough times in therapy...if you're in for a long time and find out the 'truth', i felt my mind took it in, but my body had repercussions.

it's great your wife was open to it, too.
