Marilyn Zweifel, from the why-1914 helpline

i just got an email about marilyn z. she will be having bypass surgery this morning at 11:45 (ct)she thought she was going in for angioplasty, but they discovered that she has 4 arteries with 90% blockage.

i'll keep everyone posted.

I called Marilyn in the early 1990 ' s, before my access to the Internet, to inquire about her services. Marilyn was my first contact on the road to recovery from the Watchtower Corporation.

She discreetly sent me resource information and I still have it all in my desk file today which helped me greatly even when my transition was made into the instant informational age of the Internet.

My earliest issue of a hardcopy, ' The BRCI Help line News ' is April 1994. It could have been the 80th anniversary issue commemorating ' 1914 ', for all I knew. But why bother, that ridiculous date would all but be de-emphasized by Jehovah's Witnesses during the 21 st. century anyhow.

Matthew 7:12 is the simplest most straight forward ethical lesson available. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I believe that the word "others" applies to every being that is not ourselves. I define this as the difference between the self and the unself. I believe in a phenomenon which I call natural guilt. This guilt is inborn in us in order to counteract the selfish struggle for individual survival.

Calgary girl ... struggle for life (help!)

email received from lawrence hughes, the father of the girl who is desparately ill from lukemia and has been involved in the recent court case with the watchtower...

I have to defend MIA.

Just as with the cult leader David Koresh, it appears Mia has developed the acute ability even at seventeen to be able to stand on her own indoctrinated perspective in the midst of most arguments.

Where defense is required, is the Watchtower Corporations methods of convincing children of Jehovahs Witnesses who even threaten to come to an alternative conclusion that this means the possibility of the child losing an important social support. Or worse, children simply believing contrary to the Watchtower Corporation, means a real and everlasting 'death'.

What of the other Mias and Mikes? Who will defend the children whove not necessarily embraced Watchtower indoctrination but have been put in this inescapable position by being admonished not to independently and openly investigate questionable interpretations of the Watchtower Corporation, all for the sake of not losing the Corporations precious buildings to a multitude of legal actions.

WTS reaffirms Salvation only by Works

in the new special assembly day program, the wts once again affirms that "true christians" receive their salvation by their works.

the theme is "be rich in fine works" and starts with the circuit overseer discussing what it means to "exert themselves to acquire spiritual riches".

the bethel speaker's first talk is "fine works in this time of harvest" - encouraging the r&f to "share even more fully'.

How different it would be if the SAD program dwelt on the undeserved kindness of God!

Yeah ... it would be a whole lot less profitable, financially, for the Watchtower Corporation. Not a whole lot of future corporate growth giving stuff away for free and not expecting a 'donation' in return.

Letter from society

after the wt study yesterday, the conductor read a letter from the society about the subscriptions.

i knew that they had cancelled the subscriptions to the magazines, but now they have discontinued almost all forms of subscriptions, i.e.

watchtower/awake on tape, large print wt, etc.

I strongly doubt the reduced emphasis on publication production equates to an imminent demise of Watchtower Inc. Although it's tax treatment is divine, think of the WTBTS as a corporation more like Johnson & Johnson or General Electric rather than as a part of a self-professed cosmic entity.

Now that the Watchtower has reached marketing critical mass and in the efforts of maintaining assets for the long haul, the need for less incriminating forms of revenue generation supersede the once lucrative method of volume in house publication sales (donations).

Real estate acquisitions, such as convention sites, site specific hotels, and pseudo-religious education and administration centers are where its at in the effort to maintain the all important government sanctioned religious tax exemptions.

The only true Jehovahs Witnesses will be those in control of the deeds, or perhaps, it has always been so.

Great talk at the KH today

i went to a kh near me today, they had a guy from london bethel talking.

he had some interesting things to say.. he did the talk in two parts, in the first half hour he was comparing 'this system of things with the titanic, and saying a lot about how the people on the titanic were carrying on normaly when the ship hit the berg.

then he went on about people had to 1, believe that the ship would sink and 2, have faith that the lifeboats would save them.

Actually the Watchtower has altered the concept of the Titanic tragedy for their own needs and fabricated a psychological replica of the forever, doomed ship inside a huge, completely enclosed watery sound stage with corporate lifeboats being rowed around and around, endlessly.

On occasion, if you walk near Columbia Heights in Brooklyn one might curiously notice a few people walking down the street, soaking wet.

These persons are actually Watchtower Titanic survivors who've just dived out of one of the rickety Watchtower lifeboats, swam to the edges and dragged themselves out of the corporate water tank, pulled back the black curtains of the Watchtower sound stage and jumped out onto the sidewalk.

i wonder what the real reason is behind this plea from the wbts.

perhaps it is more evidence of a desire to downsize?.

but they can't downsize the printing works if the brothers are being wasteful!

Al' I seriously doubt your above statement.

In addition, the political and socio-economic environment has been so good over the last one hundred years for virtually all religious organizations that didn't lose sight of corporate financial reality and actually began to believe excessively in their own fantaorgasmic Biblical rhetoric i.e. Waco, Jim Jones.

Using economic common sense, there appears little need for religious organizations to turn to unlawful accounting practices to provide a long lived, comfortable 'corporate lifestyle' when Governments provide such generous tax incentives in return for religious organizations supposedly helping to develop stable, well adjusted communities.

Ethical behavior OTOH is another topic.
