It's all in your hands. Think of yourself as the master of your own destiny, and you are the only one holding the wheel.
If you want your life back, then grab it, and make it how you want it. No one controls you unless you let them.

Just finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the first time. That was pure pleasure. I can't believe I gave up reading that to be a part of a cult.
Me too!!!
When did you finish reading it? I have been really sick and I finished reading it in the middle of the night this past sunday. What a great read! I can't wait to read the next book....

Welcome Josh,
Like WTF just go leave the stupid religion already your life will be so much better without those stupid old men controlling your life with this corrupted excuse for a religion.
LOL, you took the words out of our mouths, so to speak...
you will find that most of here feel exactly the same as you do, only many of us were JW's,
either born in or deceived into being a bible study, and now free.

It really makes me sad that they pull the wool over people's eyes so badly that even when they are out they feel that they need to go back.
You need to get your facts straight about the religion that claims to have the truth.
You are going to kick yourself in the butt so hard when you find out you've wasted a perfectly nice marriage and life for a lying bunch of men in brooklyn.
Please see the following links, and make up your mind about what you read.

-eclipse - born and raised a JW until I learned the facts about their lies back in 2006. faded in 2004. Will never go back to ANY religion.

Own up time...
by Chalam inwell it looks like this site is a real melting pot, a broad spectrum of views and beliefs.
for sure there are many disaffected ex jws.
so in as few words as possible, preferably not more than one sentence, how would you describe yourself spiritually?

Born once, with a strong aversion to fundamentalism of any belief system - mormon, militant muslim, jehovahs witness, cults, bac, etc
Born free and will never be enslaved to men's beliefs about god ever again - humanist and agnostic.
Did I disobey the rules again and not write only one line?oops, my bad.
As an EX-JW, one has to be a rule breaker to get out of that religion.

Most people would say that practising any religion is better than not......
by JH inmost believers think that it's better to practise any religion than to act like an animal and not practise any.. even my dad who used to dislike the jw's when he was alive, told me once, "you're better off going back to that religion, than not practising any religion at all".
i'm a believer like he was, but it's funny how most believers will say that practising any religion is better than not practising any.. jw's wouldn't agree, because they think that only their religion is the right one, even though a wrong religion may have a postive influence on somebody's behavior and happiness.. the only thing a jw looks at is the carrot "eternal life".
they won't look at the good that may come out of practising another religion.. after my jw experience, i won't go to any other religion.

I hope there is a loving Being out there. However, if I were to construct a personage - especially one based on literary tradition - it would seem to devalue whatever reality that Being actually entails. As long as I keep belief an open door of possibilities, my hope remains secure and I remain secure within it. A beautiful, silent, snow-covered path remains perfect in itself as long as I don't trample it with my footprints. May God exist in such a place and understand why I don't tread down the path.
Beautifully said.
Even if there is a ''god'', I would not worship it
and certainly would not join a man made group to worship their version of it.
Practicing religion, to me it's like a pantomime...empty.
It's more about feeling a belonging amongst fellow like-minded believers than worshipping your deity of choice -
we are decendant from pack animals afterall
If god does exist, then I am sure it understands my aversion to worship...
afterall, why should it expect me to worship it when it has done nothing for humanity except possibly make us?
(Being a creator does not make one a good 'parent' worthy of worship, it makes it merely a dispenser of genetic material)

I went to the doctor today and was told I'm going to hell!!!!!!!!!!
by changeling ini went to my gp today.
i go there quite often since he's also my parent's doctor and i bring them to all their appointments.. i take my dad there at least once a month for blood work since he is on blood thinners, so i'm very familiar with the lady who draws blood.. today i had to have blood drawn myself, and the lady inquired about my parents.
she asked if they had had a nice christmas.

Personal rights and the consideration of others should be balanced, shouldn't they?
Not when you live / visit in the Bible belt of America
Many of them are in-your-face-christians without any thought that you might not be.

Is It Entrapment?
by minimus inin columbus ohio it is not against thye law for a woman to sunbathe topless in a city park.
recently, a firefighter walked by a woman who was sunbathing topless and they began talking.
she playfully put her foot on his body and then asked him if he would show her his penis.
