The Chinese government not only forces women who become pregnant with a 2nd child to have an abortion, they also make her EAT the fetus after the procedure.
Sometimes I wonder if I can keep putting up the facade, but comments like this just make the meetings worth while.

Hanging out with JWs after you no longer believe
by B_Deserter init's starting to become harder and harder to hang out with witnesses.
all their talk about how evil the world is, etc.
i was at a gathering last night, and this older couple was their talking about how their granddaughter came back because she got a taste of how the world was, her so-called friends were freeloading off her and stealing her stuff.

I'd like to do a sign-off from the podium like that one brother did. Of course, I don't know if I can bring myself to attend enough meetings and field service sessions in order to curry enough favor to get up there. Although, doing something like that from, say, an ASSEMBLY stage would be epic. JWs would talk about it in hushed tones for YEARS. It would literally become a legend. Elders would tell the story to youngsters decades later to prove just how sneaky and evil apostates are.
About the whole DAing thing. Slacking off an walking away I don't think will work for me. My family likes to call and make unannounced visits quite a bit, so if say I wanted to celebrate Christmas one year or something like that, I couldn't without worrying about a family member stopping by and confronting me. The only way I think it 'could' work is if I moved to a different area by myself, and just didn't get on the local radar with the new hall. Although an ideal situation, moving that far isn't for a few more years. DAing puts the ball squarely in my court as far as the witnesses are concerned. Sure they won't talk to me, but I really don't think I want them to anymore. No more phone calls from the 'concerned.' No visits from elders. It's really a clean break. -

My Dating horror= You can't have coffee at the mall without a chaperon???
by Witness 007 inbeing a pioneer/servant for years, i thought i was very responsible.
when dating a sister whom i later married, i read every publication on courtship the society had.
i then spoke to an elder whom i thought was "resonable" and we agreed as the publications say: "a couple can meet together in a public place, when courting, without a chaperon.

Dating is next to impossible in the JW world as the entire congregation fights against you. Even though it's a private affair, it will without fail be drawn into the public light (and scrutiny). This attitude is actually quite recent, probably due to the number of kids who get "caught" committing fornication, which is actually likely caused by the lack of an outlet caused by the congregation sabotaging every relationship one tries to have, in addition to the "no-sex-before-marriage" ruling which causes people to get married at a young age for sex, then breeds infidelity later on.

It's starting to become harder and harder to hang out with witnesses. All their talk about how evil the world is, etc. I was at a gathering last night, and this older couple was their talking about how their granddaughter came back because she got a taste of how the world was, her so-called friends were freeloading off her and stealing her stuff. All the while I'm thinking, "ummmm, she decided to hang out with a bunch of drug addicts....DUH, but the ENTIRE world isn't like that." Then of course all the homosexual hate that spews around. "They got mad because I called one of them a 'fag' and tried to act like they had morals, HA!" I can't believe I used to just go along (and even join in) with all of this, but I can feel a fundamental shift in my personality. I'm a more tolerant and kind person now. It's kind of nice not to have the "us vs. them" mentality anymore. No more thinking in absolutes, no more paranoia, and no more homophobia.
Going to meetings is harder too. I can't count how many logical fallacies and manipulative words come from the podium. It angers me almost. It's gotten to the point where I can barely stand to be in a Kingdom Hall at all, which is why I hardly ever go. I'm supposed to be fading but I find myself just wanting to make a clean break. The only problem is that I'm afraid of losing my family, and currently I'm living with my brother. I know that as soon as he moves out (or I move somewhere else), I'm writing my disassociation letter. -

"My wifes PO says that watchtower.org and jw-media.org are both apostate sites and she shouldn't be allowing me to visit them."
Lol, I guess you should tell him to look a bit more closely at the covers of the magazines, being that they have the watchtower.org URL printed right on them. -

Current Witnesses That Bitch, Moan & Complain
by minimus ini think there's a lot of them.
they realize that they are not being treated so good.
they might've been elders and ministerial servants or pioneers or bethelites in the past.

I know a brother that bitch, moaned, and complained about the brothers nearly constantly. He felt that he deserved to be a Ministerial Servant and the elders were holding him back because they didn't like him / were jealous of his spiritual maturity / etc. So he commenced to suck up to the Circuit Overseer every chance he'd get. When the CO would walk around the corner, he'd run for the mop or snow shovel. He reminds me of Ron Burgundy, except he should be saying "Hey everyone! I'm working! Come and see how humble I am!" Naturally the CO was duped and appointed him. He told me and my roommate that he got the job (which, apparently, you're NOT supposed to tell anyone). He never complained about the elders again and started referring to his position every chance he got, "well, as an appointed man I feel this way" or "since I'm the appointed man here, I should say the prayer."

my mother sent this to me-
by Younglove1999 inso my mom sends me this to me and i hate these jw forward things- .
i want to have a good response when she asks if i got it- because i feel like it has nothing to do with jw's, just a coincidence.
i feel like she thinks i hate god, but it has nothing to do with him- it's the religion itself.

When I was younger I learned something about experiences given on the platform: 9.99999999999999 times out of 10 the person relating it is not the one who supposedly experienced it. An older sister I know gave an experience about her insurance salesman son-in-law who she witnessed to and he ended up marrying her daughter. Later in service I questioned her about it and she said "oh that didn't really happen to me. It happened to someone else I was just relating the experience because the same one is given at all conventions, so they just need someone to give the testimonial. I acted like it was me for illustrative purposes." I've been thinking about that since a few years ago they starting having the "beware of false stories" talks at every convention. It boggles my mind that those actors that go on stage are absolutely ok with LYING to thousands of people. Of course the Watchtower doctrine can rationalize all sorts of things.

Do you think the elders or the society know....
by B_Deserter inthat a lot of the people on these sites are people in the organization.
well, they probably assume that.
but i wonder if they are aware of people that have been going to these sites for years but just staying in for various reasons.

That a lot of the people on these sites are people in the organization. Well, they probably assume that. But I wonder if they are aware of people that have been going to these sites for YEARS but just staying in for various reasons. Sometimes I wonder how many of us there actually are. I look at people the few times I go to the hall and wonder if they're feeling the same way I do. If they've already made a decision to leave but are just trying to fade or whatever. It's too bad there isn't some sign that we can display that can let others in the hall know who we are, but unfortunately I think the borg would pick up on something like that fast. Lol, sometimes I feel like I'm in a prison gang and I don't know who the other gang members are.

I was actually at a JW wedding a few nights ago. They had bar service....for ONE HOUR. That's right. They opened the bar at 6, only to promptly close at 7. I got my last beer at about 7:05 and there were a couple people in line behind me. Quite a literal "happy hour."
It was a fancy catered deal (which is...unusual for a witness wedding in my area). The meat was dry and terrible, and the mashed potatoes had an incredibly funky taste. I had RSVP'd and in turns out the witnesses love following orders so much, TOO many of them showed up to the dinner uninvited. I ended up not being able to sit at my table but instead had to sit with at the groom's insane mother's table. I scarfed down the food and went over to the table I was assigned to (they had meticulously planned the seating so that all the friends could sit together) visit my friends. The Emcee was not kicking people out like he was supposed to be doing, annoying my friend who was an usher quite a bit.
I left as soon as the "Sliiiiiiiiiiide to the lef'....Sliiiiiiiiiide to da rite" song came on. When I got home and took off my suit I saw that I had a 6" tear in the rear of my $700 suit. Ugh. It wasn't the greatest party of all time. -
