Hooray I get to take nature walks in DRESS SLACKS and BUTTON-UP T-SHIRTS. I just can't wait to BURN all my causal clothes. Haven't you heard the new light? All you need to do to the word Denim is change the -nim to -vil and you get "Devil!"

Your own Judas: Did somebody 'borrow' the money of the contributions?
by outofthebox instealing is a very serious accusation (if you don't believe us ask judas), but it looks like is not that uncommon between jws.
we have been in different congregations were money has been 'subtracted' from the contributions for personal purposes.
an elder used some to buy stuff, although he returned the money later, but... in this other congregation the accounting servant (is that the correct term in english?

I say better to fund groceries for a window-washing accounts servant than international travel and vehicles for snotty bethelites.

If only I didn't get talked into living with my brother. Ugh.

I love to point out that neither Jesus nor his apostles ever wore fancy clothes that set them apart from anyone else. In fact, Jesus ridiculed the pharisees for exhibiting their extra-long fringes in order to give the impression that they were "holier" than normal people.

LOL @ Stinky pioneer sister. In the hall I grew up in, this sister smelled like a freaking skunk, really bad. I was told she got sprayed by a skunk out in service, so her stinking was okay because it was done in Jehovah's service. I spent the next few years deathly afraid of skunks, worried that they would inflict a permanent stench upon myself.

What made you get baptized?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inbasically, i was forced into it.
believe me, baptism was the last thing i wanted to do.
but i was already in my early twenties, and the rank and file were like why don't you get baptised!

I was a TBJW (True-believing JW) at the time. I think I liked the prestige it brought me. The congregation I was born into treated me like an outcast, but my new congregation really lifted me up. I was "progressing" and felt that I was making the right choice. So no, I'm not going to blame anyone, or claim I was pressured into it, or say it was for a girl or because of peer pressure. It was my decision at 15 because that is what I believed. Fact of the matter is I changed and saw the truth about "the truth."

I did my first "bad" thing...question about voter registration
by B_Deserter ini was at work yesterday and was asked if i wanted to put $5 down on a square the guys had going on for nascar.
i had been asked before, and always said "no thanks," but this time, i had some cash on me (which is a rare thing), so i decided i might as well try it.
so there you have it, i gambled.

Thanks for the answers! I plan to make this November my first voting year too! Can you change your party affiliation? If so, is it just a matter of re-registering under the new party?

It was the first thing I've ever done in real life that I could get disfellowshipped for (excluding posting on here and making anti-JW Youtube videos as well as writing atheist content on my "secret" blog).
Secondly, I have a few questions about voter registration. Does one have to register every year or does one registration mean that's it for life? Do I have to register under a certain political party? If I register and do not affiliate myself with one, does that limit me to "independent" candidates? If I register as a Democrat am I not allowed to vote for any Republicans, and vice-versa? What's the advantage of registering under a certain party? -

Ron Paul is the most compatible for me right now. I think a restoration to the original ideals this country was founded upon is definitely in order. I don't know how anyone can root for Guiliani. The guy wants to turn this nation into a fascist police state.
OTOH, I think the democratic nominee is a dead heat between Obama and Clinton, with Clinton being the most likely winner. If Paul doesn't get the nomination, I'd love to see a woman in the white house.
