He should check out the Assembly of Yahweh.

Besides being on here?
I'd say it'd have to be buying and reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. I do know of one witness on the internet however that told someone he would leave that book on the coffee table in front of an elder and not have to worry (lie!). But, just in case he wasn't lying (he was!), It'd have to be the first time I said "Happy Thanksgiving" this year, not just someone saying it to me and me saying "you too."
I also posted on the Casual Encounters section of Craiglist but only got answers from gay guys (even though I was posting on m4w) and webcam spam bots.
I have looked at internet porn while my brother was having his bible study in the other room. -

I actually prefer a little meat on the bones as well. Skinny chicks tend to give off the "high-maintenance bitch" vibe. Plus, their womanly attributes are almost non-existent. I found it funny because there is no mention of BBW on the site, yet there is the ad, almost implying something about the women available. Also, I do not consider a woman who is a normal sized human as a BBW. To me, the term is just something used by huge, shapeless, Jabba-the-Hutt women to make them feel attractive. Any other woman who is neither the former type nor built like a linebacker doesn't qualify as "big" in my perception. That's just me, though.

I talked to a former JW I haven't spoken to in years

Thanks for the replies, guys. I did some thinking and I realized I have no reason to talk to that person. I mean the only thing we got in common is JWs. Other than that, there's nothing of any substance to build a friendship on. I was going to try to be friends again since we used to be very close (in the friendship way) but now I can see it's a waste of time.

A first for me today--I voted!
by onesong ini'm not into politics and don't put much stock in the government having anything to do with my happiness, but i decided it would be a new experience and why not.. i have to admit it felt good.
seeing democracy in action was great and as small as my 1 little vote is, it feels empowering to have a say..

Is my religious group a cult?
by truth.ceeker in<!-- .style1 { color: #0000ff; font-weight: bold; } --> i read this in the paper and thought about sharing it with you.
although it can be applied to several groups, one comes to mind that is relevant to this board.. reader wonders if religious group is a cult .
dear dr. graham:several years ago we were going through a very rough time, and this religious group came to our door and welcomed us and helped us to get on our feet.

When he said that cults believe they're right and everyone else is wrong it struck me as kind of hypocritical. After all, Graham teaches that same thing. Those who don't follow his requirements to be "saved" are damned to hell.

Loss of privileges when family member is disfellowshipped
by Agnes inif a family member is disfellowshipped (for example a son or a daughter) what sort of "privileges" would a family lose?
would they still be permitted to have bible studies in their home, go out in field service and would they be marked as bad association?

My sister-in-law was reproved because a guy in another congregation made an confession of doing "things" with her of a sexual nature (or drugs, I don't really know/care). This was years ago and she was disfellowshipped after those occurrences. I was under the impression that being reproved washed away all those sins but apparently not. This brother ended up getting reproved, so they reproved my sister-in-law, despite her having no recollection of said indcidents, and despite this guy being known liar, solely because he got reproved. Yet, she doesn't see it as a big deal.

I made a post about my first crush and how disastrous it was. Anyway, I worked up the guts to talk to her on IM tonight. We caught up a little, but she seemed....kind of aloof and suspicious. I can't blame her. If I were her, knowing how I used to be, I'd think I was probing for information so I can set up some elder harassment. I didn't talk about not being a JW anymore. Didn't feel like it would really do any good. That's the thing about talking to ex-JWs. If you're trying to fade, you can't really have any personal relationships with any ex-JWs you know that still have witness relatives. I don't know that she wouldn't let it slip to her parents, who would in turn inform my family. God, even when I'm trying to walk away they rule my life! I can't just say I don't agree with it anymore.
God I'm depressed. Right now my only romantic options are in the Kingdom Hall. If I fake it, I could possibly end up in one, but I don't want to start a relationship with someone under false pretenses. I have no skills with women. It makes me angry because of the lie they tell every JW male growing up: just be spiritual that's all you need to attract women in the truth! I'm a 25-year-old virgin now who basically has a choice: stay in the JW organization and eventually get married, or leave and be alone forever. I really don't want to take the third option, but sometimes it seems like I'm being backed into a corner. I'm going to be miserable no matter what. -

My personal proof elders are not spirit appointed
by stillajwexelder ini was congregation secretary.
all of us were against appointing a particular ms as elder despite the fact he had regular pioneered for 15 years.
the reason was he told crude jokes and all in the congregation knew it.

I knew someone that told those kinds of filthy jokes. He would constantly complain about not being appointed an MS. He would talk about how the elders are against him all the time. He eventually started making plans to move congregations...until he started sucking up. Whenever the CO would visit, he'd run for the mop/snow shovel and start cleaning. He was all about making a big show. Eventually he was appointed an MS, and now constantly reminds people that he's an "appointed man."
