The first few callers were pure ignoramuses. My favorite was the guy who was arguing that because Christianity has been around so long, it must be the truth. If that were an accurate measuring stick, Hinduism or Zoroastrianism would be the true religion, as they've been around a lot longer than Christianity.

Hey guys, nice site update. Just wanted to fill you all in on what's been going on. After the JWD announcement, I ended up on JWR and have been posting there pretty regular.
In the meantime, I've started a relationship with someone and have taken several more steps out of the organization. I decided not to hide my relationship and added her on my Facebook as well as put her in my relationship status. There was a JW couple who got me into the game World of Warcraft, and they were both my friends on Facebook. I got a message from the woman saying "hey you didn't tell me you had a g/f! congrats!" I decided not to answer because that's essentially all I wanted her to know. Later, I was chatting with them using the WoW chat system. She started asking me questions. Then, she asked the one every witness asks: "Is she a witness?" I said "no." After several expressions of disappointment, telling me she doesn't want me to end up like her dfed brother-in-law (who got dfed for "fornicating" with his wife before they got married). Then she asked if I was sleeping with her. I told her I'm not going to discuss that matter, as it is private. She responded, "so does that mean yes?" I responded affirmatively. I had decided I wasn't going to lie, and I realized that she was going to think I was sexually active unless I said no, so I wasn't going to lie and say no. She predictably freaked out. Interestingly, she used quite a bit of profanity as well. Last I heard she called my parents, who are now talking about finding another place for my JW brother who lives with me. In the meantime though, he's still at my place, and doesn't seem to be aware of anything. In fact, an elder was over for his weekly study with my brother and didn't say a word. I'm hoping they're figuring that since I've been inactive for so long, and don't really present myself as a JW anymore, they're going to let the matter rest.
I personally haven't talked to my parents about it, so I don't really know what's going on, and I don't want to bring it up, either. I kind of hope my brother moves out, because then my exit from the organization will be pretty much complete.

WHY don't Americans realize GUNS are destroying their country?
by Witness 007 inusa today everyone has a gun, why?.....to protect themselves...from who?
other folks with guns!.....yes it's in your laws...but they were written when the british ruled you.
one school gun killing every week does not happen anywhere else in the world....maybe you need more guns to protect your kids.....one in the lunchbox.....does anyone else see this.

The purpose of gun ownership in America is not for self-defense. It is so that the citizens will have the means to overthrow the government if it becomes too corrupt. The founders knew that voters don't always make the best decisions, and that in the event where democracy collapsed, the people would have the weapons to rise up and rebel. Thomas Jefferson in fact thought that we should have a violent revolution every few decades, because he recognized how easily power corrupts a revolution. Thankfully the democratic process allows us the opportunity to overthrow our government by peaceful means once every 4 years. If we lose that freedom, then it is time to pick up our guns and take it back.

This woman driving a silver Honda SUV from the Highway 7 congregation of Hot Springs DUBBERS just reminded me of a sister in Vanderbilt MI. L. Gardner. She thought she was the pillar that held up the world for god. Here and her husband Norm were so pompous it was gut wrenching. Norm would have people he new do talks on Sunday from down state MI and then he would make a big production video taping the talk, This at a time when video cameras were not owned by many people and very expensive. Norm had to be the big boy around the hall. He would go trucking for the society and wear western boots to meeting. I used to call them BJ and Lorna was the bear. For the younger crowd that was a seventy’s show when trucking was a fashionable thing. Everyone owned a CB. If you would watch Norm give a talk, he would literally hang off the podium he was like a professor who was very taken with himself giving a lecture.
Ha! That's funny. Are they still in Vanderbuilt? I ask because in February I'm going to a wedding there (yes, dogon, your niece is getting married).

United Brotherhood - even in the reverse...?
by johnnyc inits a bit odd to me to finally understand what "united brotherhood" means from this web site.
even though i traveled for work, i was not the guy to make sure to go to every meeting abroad.
in fact, i didn't even once go to another "branch" office.

I know someone who left because she got tired of having different rules of conduct at every Kingdom Hall. I remember in one KH, some kids got counseled for playing laser tag. In one territory over, the elders were PLAYING laser tag WITH the kids!

Ex-JW should take advantage of the podcast technology
by Hiddenwindow ini listen to podcasts several times a week.
while surfing itunes and downloading programs, i see a lot of ex-mormons podcasts, which i usually put in my ipod, but practically none from jw.

meh, I'm not too impressed with the site. There's no way we can all fit on just one board. It'll work temporarily, but we really need a site for ourselves.
