i dont want a complicated version; just a very simple explanation on the theory of evolution, and if possible, in your own words.
many of us are very ignorant on this subject and it seems that a few here are very knowledgeable so i hope you can help me and others also.. also if you believe in the theory of common descent, could you explain that to me also?

Yet you lambast evolution and refuse to believe it on so-called "lack of evidence." I see this double-standard with Creationism everywhere. Why do Creationists feel that evidence is so important when it comes to evolution, but refuse to apply that principle to their own belief? Because they feel they don't have to lift one finger to prove their position but put unreasonable demands on scientists, ignoring evidence that contradicts their pre-conceived conclusion. -

Do the hours of the JW's reflect their actual preaching?
by justhuman inwhen i was watchtower witness and pioneer i recall how we used to abuse the hours at the field service.... getting up in the morning, and doing street work..after the street work going to the kindom hall for the field service, and the at the territory.
after finishing the territory continue some street work in order continue reporting the time.. so starting at 8.15 in the morning, then stop at 9.15 to drive to the kindom hall, and around 9.50 we were getting at the territory.
then after the 2 hours preaching(and usually 85%of the people were not home and the rest show no interest at all, and after 2 coffee brakes, finishing at 12.00. then going some street work at the center of the town until 1.00. so we used to report 5 hours!!!

I've known some people to be incredibly strict with their hours. They would only report time actually talking to someone at the door. I always wondered if they carried a stop watch with them.

May I direct your attention to pages 220 & 221?
by NotaNess inof the proclaimers book.
no doubt many of you have read this jw book on the wt version of the history and origins of the society.. my issue is on pages 220 and 221 where they "briefly" show some images of things and practices, that the org has abandoned.
some of these were practiced for many years, and even were at the very creation of the organization.. according to jw/wts teachings and beliefs, this organization has "pagan" origins based on the given evidence.

Well, the answer is not "no" in every case. I guess for me it would all depend on how long ago he was a career criminal, and how long has he changed his ways. If it were an old man that got into a lot of serious trouble as a youth, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
To play devil's advocate here, I'd say that the society then was not the same society back then. They did all these things long before I was born and no longer practice them. Therefore, they repented. Of course these pages in the Proclaimer's book kind of blow away the whole "JWs hide their negative history" argument, even if they do try to spin it into something positive. Plus, in every cong. I've been to all the old books are in the Hall library, just sitting on the shelf ready to be read. -

If I can just jump in here for a minute. It is INCREDIBLY unlikely for the remains of an animal to become fossilized. The conditions have to be just right. Yet, it does happen, and there are enough fossils that have been found to see the process of evolution. EVERY fossil is a transitional species. Creationists live in the gaps. If a fossil is found that bridges that gap, the creationist will scoff and say "now there are TWO gaps!"

Now that 1935 is gone, I think we're going to see the floodgates open on new annointed ones flooding the organization. I heard you don't even have to be annointed to be on the GB now.

Interesting. I know of one sister who claims to be of the annointed. Some scoff (maybe because the idea of a black Annointed person is impossible to them), but others just don't bother to speculate. I think if you're a R&F and claim to be annointed they don't say anything. However, if you're an Elder, CO or DO they may press you a little harder. I know of a CO in his fifties that made that claim, and heard he was questioned very intensely and eventually the brothers decided he was. Of course this was also before the 1935 doctrinal change, so getting him approved may have been a really big deal because of that. I think they actually declared him as Ray Franz's replacement. Can't remember for sure though.

Can anyone here confirm this? I'm just curious as to the process of being recognized. Does someone just wake up one day and go "I'm annointed!" then take some sort of test and if they pass, it's official? Is it some sort of Jedi test where you have to guess the image someone is looking at without you being able to see it? Do you hear voices? Have visions, etc?
Also, I was reading something about the JIOR (Jehovah Is Our Righteousness) Annointed class. I read that they are the true annointed, of which Knorr was a member, but when Franz took over, they told the society that the Kingdom of God had disfellowshipped their organization and they would be cast into spiritual darkness. It's all pretty wild stuff I'd like to know more about if anyone has any insights/links they can throw my way.
