I think the society really doesn't want any of their speakers to mention the names of any prominent "apostates" like Franz. I only knew about Franz from people who were in the org during the early 80s (my parents and older brothers) and that was in hushed tones. I don't think they'd want to risk letting new people know the name of a person with a dissenting view of the Watchtower until they have the "evil internet" mentality bashed into their skulls.

The official WT position on marriage after death
by B_Deserter ini remember being really turned off to the idea that if you died before or during armageddon and had to be resurrected, then you couldn't get married and god would take away your sex drive.
is there an offical teaching on this?

I loled at "Say you can't make up your mind? I think you better close it and open up the Bible." So true.

Apology for raising children in the Truth

I don't harbor any ill will toward my parents. They think they did the right thing.

"God will not test you beyond what you can bare"..

I hate that scripture because the dubs use it to make people feel guilty for not keeping up with the extreme regiments they put on people. "Too much for you? Nonsense! I says right here that God wouldn't do that, and since these rules come from God, you can do it."

Great news. Although it is still sad she still believes Armageddon is coming. She'll probably grow out of that though.

Your most hated Kingdom Songs ever...
by B_Deserter inwe all know that skilled songwriters the brothers are not, so what are your most hated kingdom songs?
the ones that made you cringe when you saw them listed on the km or watchtower?
mine?.

I would always emphasize the stupid parts and even gesture (like pumping my fist when I sang "VIGOR and VIM!!!") and make everyone around me giggle. Sometimes I'd play the foreign accent game, where I'd sing each verse in a different accent.

Mine?- Any song with improper contractions (giv'n and heav'n). The funniest thing is that it doesn't shorten up the words at all, they're still two syllables no matter how much the brothers wish they weren't
- The songs with words that haven't been in use for the last 150 years like "capracious," "vivacious," and "efficacious." Or the one with the line "let us serve God with real vigor and vim!" What the hell?
- The songs with the parts in parentheses that not everyone is supposed to sing but they never specify who's supposed to

The Skeptics Annotated Bible- Be brave and read it.
by fedorE inthis is a collection of all the books of the bible, with all the absurdities and contradicitons verse by verse..... including the christian response to it.....fyi.

I've found a lot of the Christian responses are based on extra-biblical cognitive gymnastics. Whenever someone points out something nasty in the Bible, they start the "well, this actually means this and this is tied to this verse here." Basically, whenever the Bible doesn't make sense, it doesn't mean what it's saying.
