I just remembered Monty Python's Meaning of Life too. In some of the beginning scenes, they showed this Catholic family with about 30 or more children--and their Protestant neighbors across the street, complaining about the Catholics having so many children.

I own Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The first time I saw the movie, I rented it and my son and I watched it--and he cracked up at the scene when one of the good knights was fighting the black Knight where he wouldn't let anyone pass him. While they were fighting, the good knight kept cutting off the Black Knight's arms and legs. I think the first was an arm and the Black Knight said "Oh that's just a flesh wound." And there was blood pouring out the sockets. Even after all the limbs and legs were cut off, the Black Knight still wanted to fight!
I also liked that they were pretending to ride horses and they used cocanut shells to make the sound of horses hoofs. And the French guy who taunted King Arthur and his knights with silly phrases---and the shrubbery scenes. Oh and when they had to deal with the Holy Hand Grenade and took out this book that sounded like the KJV of the Bible on how to disarm it. There were just soooo many funny parts to that movie.
I also liked MP's The Life of Brian. He was a contemporary of Jesus Christ.

Here's one for ya....
by Flowerpetal indid you ever notice that when someone was disciplined in the congregation (df'd or reproved) and maybe you got wind of what is was for, it then seemed like a lot or articles in the wt magazine or public talks appeared on that person's "si?
" like they were being disciplined by jehovah?
did you ever think that or did you think it was just coincidence?

This was probably one thing ( and maybe still is) that may keep a lot of us who are fading or still a little active coming to the meetings.....that maybe Jehovah IS disciplining his "people" thru the WT Borg????

JANG & the Charismatic Boobies
by Frannie Banannie ina great lady, jan groenveld...she contributed so much to all she came in contact with online and off, i'm sure.....today i was reminded of her surprisingly delightful sense of humor.....she belonged to a lot of online support xdub groups.....someone in the group i belonged to in 2001 posted a funny about bra types, which, of course, prompted moi to write my own query about bazonker types.....yall might enjoy this...fb .
the joke that was posted:.
a man walked into the ladies department of a macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "i'd like to buy a bra for my wife.

Are You A Happier Person Than When You Were In The "Truth"?
by minimus ini see a lot of hopelessness and cynicism now.
are you actually happier now than when you were a jehovah's witness?

I was always a happy person. A lot of you would probably hate me because I am one of those cheery types that wake up in a good mood and always says "good morning!"
But, now that I am mostly mentally free of the borg, I feel like I can listen to the meetings with a very critical eye and logical thought, and pick out a lot of discrepancies in the material that is presented at the meetings.

Very true for me too! I was on two of them and going through therapy to keep me from using a gun, my brains and my ceiling to create a new form of "performance art".
I was just wondering......how do therapists view the beliefs or religion of JWs? I mean, you probably have to unload a lot of baggage at therapy sessions....do any of them offer an opinion?
I know a sister who, when she was d'fd, needed support from somehwere, so all the time she was "outside" of the cong. she went to a psychiatrist. Of course, she had other issues too. She was always suicide prone--and I don't know her that well, but I am just now wondering if it is because she was raised by her grandmother who was a witness. The grandmother is dead now, and claimed to be of the anointed.

I was about 10 1/2 yrs. when that book was released in 1958. So when we started studying it at the bookstudy when we got to the part that this website discusses, I got really scared. All I could think of was some time in the near future, the Russians would drop a nuclear bomb on the US. I had fear of this for several years. Now that is a memory I hadn't thought of in a while.
And I agree, the society knows no more who the King of the North or King of the South is than the man in the moon!

I came back here after a long absence. When I was here before, I lurked more than I posted, but I believed and still believe most of the posters here have missed their calling. You guys are tooooo funny!
I love the laughs and the funmaking and the ribbing--of each other and the Borg. A lot of you have a subtle sense of humor that others don't get. I guess sometimes you have to have sort of a sinister mind to get some of the jokes.
