so three weeks ago my wife and i had an emotional discussion wherein i finally told her that this religion was not the truth.
there was much emotion, a chill has ensued in our relationship.
(i haven't been to a meeting in 4 months now, and have not reported time in two months) i am sure many of you know the drill.. towards the end of our conversation, she asks: but what do i tell the friends when they ask about you?.

For that very reason, I love the look on everyone's faces when they ask in a dour tone "Are you OK?" Expecting me to break down and cry or at least look real guilty and I respond, "I'm doing great!!"
I had the opportunity to say that "I'm doing great" to a couple of JW sisters not so long ago. Their faces dropped as if they wanted me to say I was depressed, etc.
in the 1950's i remember they used to say what they were disfellowshipped for, whether it be fornication, stealing, etc.
then it was disfellowshipped for "loose conduct", then "conduct not becoming a christian.
" then it was simply "disfellowshipped" or "disassociated.
Yes, growing up in the organization, I remember them stating why people were disfellowshipped.

hi all, i came to this site a few months ago looking for some advice regarding my involvment with a jw girl, i was under the impression that love was the most important thing in a relationship and that we could get around the whole 'she's a witness and i'm not' thing, the responses i received soon cleared my head of those thoughts!
i've since made the break with elizabeth and feel so much better, although it was a painful thing to do, i still bump into her every once in a while and receive an endless stream of jw literature and invitations to various gatherings in the post, the latest being a three day convention, i read the stuff and become more convinced with every one that i've done the right thing.
i'm still trying to work out how otherwise intelligent people can be sucked in by this bs, i hope one day that she may see the light, not so we can get together but because she's a great person.

it seems you have to be of the "popular crowd" on this forum to express feelings and views.
as i am not of this crowd, i have recently recieved alot of not so friendly comments and p.m.s from people who seem to think they need to put me in my place.
it is funny how some people can express their views and opinions and everyone still loves them.

You might be beating your head against the wall. Why don't you challenge her to just stick to the Bible and no book or brochure to study out of...after all the witnesses call it a Bible study. Pick a subject and make her find scriptures to support it; make her prepare for the study.
my grandpa died sunday afternoon.i was there in the room with him.i had to watch as he struggled to take his last breaths.it was horrific to watch.this was the second time i have watched someone in my family die.he died of prostate cancer.it was a long and painful death.i'm glad he's not in pain anymore.. at the moment i'm feeling a little emotional and upset about what i saw and all of the jw bs i had to listen too.i'm also dreading the jw memorial which is next weekend.i am planning on going.i'm da ed so i don't expect anyone to come up and talk to me or express there sorrow to me.the thing is i feel like i should be comferted and people should tell me they are sorry i lost my grandfather.i lost someone who i had alot of respect for all of my life regaurdless of how close we were after i da ed.i think i'm going to be excluded at the dinner after.they are planning a reception type thing for after the service.
i'm glad i did get the chance to see him and talk to him before he got really sick.i had the chance to go to dinner with him and my parents and a couple of my aunts a few months ago.when he was leaveing he asked me pointedly for a hug.he said he was collecting them.i hugged him and said i loved him.that was the last time i saw him till i went to my aunts house where he was staying just before he went into hospice.the next time i saw him was 3 weeks ago when he entered hospice and wasn't expected to live the night out.then i saw him sunday i arrived about 20 to 30 minutes before he took his last breath.he was creamated this week and will be buried with my other family in our family plots soon.. anyway i'm just in need of some kind words of support at the moment.i though that jwd would give that to me even though i don't post here that much.it really sucks to feel alone at times like this..

Just wanted to add that both my kids are in college and both are out of the country on a summer class program. My son is in Japan and my daughter was in France, visiting art museums and next is going to Venice and then Germany. Germany for fun.
This is the first time my son was ever on an airplane--but he loved it. We are communicating with him thru Skype and he's having some wonder experiences--visiting temples and monasteries in Kyoto, learning some Japanese. He'll be going to Tokyo soon and they are going to climb Mt. Fuji if the snow melts..it's not open to visitors till then.
How can what the society offers young people top this?

I just remembered something...some of you "oldtimers" (said in jest) might remember the Qualified To Be Ministers book? I remember, as a kid, overhearing a brother state in conversation once, that studying that book would give you the equivalent of a college education.
