i remember in my jw life, at different conventions/assemblies when the speakers would be talking about things related to the paradise earth.

they would always say, "if you pictured yourself there, then you will no doubt be there.".

What scriptures will you NEVER hear a Witness use?

what scripture will probably never be read in the kh or quoted in the watchtower?

for obvious reasons!

i'll start with honesty's contribution: .

Acts 17:10,11: Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas out to Beroea, and these, upon arriving, went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the scriptures daily as to to whether these things were so."

This scripture is used but if one really applies it, then one will find they might be DA'd or DF'd.

Here is another one:

Mark 9:38-40: John said to him: "Teacher, we saw a certain man expelling demons by the use of your name and we tried to prevent him because he was not accompanying us." But Jesus said: "Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one that will do a powerful work on the basis of my name that will quickly be able to revile me; for he that is not against us is for us."

From the NWT:

Romans 12:16: "Be minded the same way toward others as to yourselves; do not be minding lofty things, but be led along with the lowly things. Do not become discreet in YOUR own eyes."

I would say this especially applies to the gov. body who claim to be part of the f&ds.

Another one would be James 1:27 "The form of worship that is clean and undefiled is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world."

They go right to the last part of the scripture and forget about the orphans and widows part.

As I was looking thru the posts this morning I saw this one, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/123738/1.ashx which is related to what I am asking as the DVD, The Secret, is about using the Kabbalah to get what you want. I did a Google search on The Secret, and it sent me to a Kaballah site.

I guess I'm torn. I am sort of leaning towards Deism but I also agree with AuldSoul about Christianity. I like the idea of Buddhism which maybe can be practiced along with Christianity as well.

OK, I'm going back some 40 years into the organization so some of you may or may not have heard this. I remember in my JW life, at different conventions/assemblies when the speakers would be talking about things related to the paradise earth. They would always say, "if you pictured yourself there, then you will no doubt be there."

Now the reason for my question is it seems (and I don't know that much about it) but in the Kabbalah practice, (Jewish mysticism), but one of my friends was telling me about this idea: one of the things you do is if you want something, you picture yourself having it. For example, if you want to make a lot of money in your business ventures or what have you, visualize yourself counting your money. Or if you want to travel to a place you always wanted to go to, picture yourself there, and it will happen. It might help to have visual aids or pictures that you can look at every day to reinforce what you want. The idea is that the "Universe" is there waiting for you to give you these things, and it doesn't dwell on negative thoughts; just positive ones.

So as I was musing over all of this, I just wonder of the WTS may have borrowed this idea of picturing yourself in the paradise earth from Kaballah.

What do you guys think? BTW, my friend is not into it, but she's trying this idea as an experiment to see if it works.

The Number 1 "hole" in the doctine of Jehovah's Witnesses...

after years of research, i think i've finally come across the biggest hole in the basic doctrine of jw's .

they say that there is no hell...but that you can live for eternity in a world full of nothing but witnesses.... .

...i'm not sure, but i think this statement contradicts itself??????

i read today about three new scientific developments: british scientists are going to try to restore damaged hearts with the patients own.

stem cells, blind mice regained sight when treated with retina cell implants and the natural chemical resveratrol showed anti-aging.

in a mammal ( mice) for the first time.

Brothers, do you really think anyone is listening? If they were, why are you endlessly repeating yourselves?

The R&F are also not listening to the WTs warnings of not getting on the Internet. Witnesses are posting in a lot of places!
