DF and shunning to end soon...jw numbers will triple

recently at the beach house with my df studly son...a carload of young jw's in service drove by and saw us...old friends of his/me...they turned around and stopped...hugs and all!...i loved them treating him so human.

most dubs now hate to shun...esp.

their own family and there is less and less of it...my own mom will not shun my son, but dad will...she just told me she has no prob treating my son as just her normal grandson because she believe no kids should be allowed to be baptised!....i love you mom!

Were they subject to rigid shunning or was it more a 'watch your association'

It was rigid, might just as well have been baptised, shunning. It happened to my husband at that time. I was very upset because I thought it was bullshit but being new "in the truth" I went along with it because after all, how could I understand the ways of God completely?

When the new light came out the elders visited my husband and offered him a Bible study after shunning him for about a decade. Of course he refused, point being that he was never BAPTISED and should not have been held accountable for making a commitment he did not make.

You know what I thought ? Just more sorting of the wheat from the chaff, after all, he could study if he wanted to. Another way that Jehovah had cleansed the organization.

I feel bad for him now and for what my children and I went through.

Shunning is sick and wrong. And evil.

Ahhh...I wish I had time to read more than the first page. I spent a few months being the queen of fluff because it was fun and sometimes that's what you really need to survive. I hope I never forget how to have fun.

That being said, I always read your posts Farkel. I think I have even posted that I am a true Fan of Farkel. You and a few others (nod to Gopher) have helped me learn to think. Something that I am not accustomed to. I am also in no way confident enough at this point to think that I can add much to an intellectual debate.

So... don't think that your posts mean nothing to those of us that don't often post on your threads. I am thankful that I discovered you early on and am able to go back and read old posts of you and other "old timers".

I finally said it...It's time for us to get divorce

i asked my wife over the weekend for a divorce...1st let me say that this sight gives support for those affected by the borg - ex-jw's, ubm's etc...but it also consumes some of us.

of this i am guilty.

i have developed such a disdain for the wtbs that i can no longer have a conversation with my wife without attacking her religion.

recently, with my dad and two of my closest friends, i stumbled upon an interesting situation....they all know where i stand and what the issues were that became a wt dealbreaker for me...but all three of them have recently (and in the past) expressed opinions that go directly against fds teachings...not doubts....they just do not agree with something taught.

but two of them have actually put a mental block on a wt teaching they do not agree with, but what is funny is they both told me "i don't think we have ever been taught that so directly" (by the slave)....both times i was stunned!....these two teachings are huge wt dogma and taught very often....but because it conflicted with what they actually believe....they thought it must no be a real wt teaching.. 1. the first one was my dad...i told him i was mad at god and wt....he asked why...so i said well it could be this frikkin reading glasses i cant get used to, or my bad knee thats aching, and my back sometimes goes out!....and i was told all my life that for sure i did not need a college degree or great job cause i would never grow old or die and the end was just a few short years away!!

!.....so then he said the above quote...and i was like "what about the talk and books "million now living will never die"....so he says that is not as specific as to what my gripe was.....so i do my research and send him an email with two dozen quotes...my fave is the may 22,1969 awake that said youths "you better face this fact..you will never finish a carreer in this system...you dont need college....cause you will never grow old or die....the end is few short years away.

Very good anti-witnessing, you never know how much the seed you planted will grow. (Excuse me, I think that I just threw up a little in my mouth.)

It's true though. They may have listened closer than you know. I know a poster who tried to talk to a friend/brother over eight years ago with apparently no success. He just got an e-mail and a phone call from this friend stating that both he and his wife are about to disassociate themselves.

TO CLARIFY A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT MY PROJECT.....

first of all, i want to thank everyone for all the words of encouragment and compliments i've received regarding the project i put together.

not only will it (hopefully) help some family members to see that something's not right regarding many of the wt's doctrines, but it was therapeutic for me to do as well.

like many other ex-witnesses, i was emotionally devastated and extremely angry when i discovered that this religion was not "the truth" as was drilled into our brains from day one.
