i believe that in the past i've started threads about ghosts and such but i haven't started one about me asking others if they have had a personal experience with a demon.. a couple of days ago i was talking to my dub son-in-law about how i wish i could believe in the unseen....such as ghosts, the paranormal, or anything out of the ordinary.. he said to me......"well what about demon stories"?
he related some stories that were given at an assembly from some who were greatly bothered by demons, mostly from africa.. so, what are we to make of those with such stories?
are they lying?

i am not sure how it is in other states but in california you have to raise your right hand and take the oath of office, in that oath you swear or affirm to the best of your ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the united states and the laws of the united states so help me god.
is there a conflict for jw's on this?
jw do not serve in public offices, a notary by law is a public office, due to the fact that you swear to protect and defend the constitution you are saying that you are allies with the united states.
Yes.
okay, i recently read "captives of a concept" by don cameron and i am utterly shocked, yet i feel so i don't know- hell, free!
this guilt of believing in "god's organization" and feeling as if i was losing something that in reality never even existed!
at first i felt so guilty, as if it was my issues that led me to my path of not having faith in the organization and in a sense always believed that i was just immoral and couldn't uphold the standards.
I'm glad you are "free". It's a great feeling.

how common it is to see this in the witnesses.
there are different definitions of nesters, but the one i am here using is children who are old enough where they should have left home, who are still permanently living with their parents.
i am also discounting those who, for lack of opportunity or for timing reasons are living with parents until other arrangements kick in.
I can't quote stats, but I have seen an awful lot of witness nesters.

my ex is a jw (as previously mentioned) and is against our son going to see the new movie, despite admitting that he has witness friends who will happily go and see it........oh and he also has witness friends that would dob their brother into the elders for going to see it.. i have just had a bit of a heated debate about it with him (our son is 14, nearly 15) and i just wondered if any of you have good sound reasoning for what is a 'matter of conscience' for these brainwashedd poo brains!!!!!.
help.........warlock can you just wave a magic wand or something............ a mother doing battle with the force...............a brain numbing, mind control force at that.
seriously folks though any gems you have would be greatly appreciated.
I agree with daystar. If you do anything that causes your son to go against his conscience, it will hurt him and it will come back to haunt you. Let him know that if he wishes to see the movie you'd be glad to take him and you will deal with Dad's displeasure, but that the desicion is his. Give him a measure of control over the situation and then leave it alone. Respect his desicion if it's not to go and stand up for him if he wants to go. If he does go, play it down, don't go "wasn't that the best, aren't you glad you went?" or any such thing. Let him say what he thinks about it , if he says nothing, let it go. No big wup.
Try not to make this or anything else a "big deal". That may add a lot of stress to your son. He's already caught between you and his dad, he does't need any more "issues".

does it really happen, or is it a fake?.
know anyone personally who was cured by a faith healer?.
The mind can do amazing things when a person is open to suggestion. It doesn't make it real.

hey, im not sure if anyone knows of this, but recenetly (well actually like about 3-4 months ago) jw's in my area have been told to create emergency preparation kits for themselves or thier familys, and to give the elders phone numbers of non-witness relatives for emergency contacts.. also one thing that they've just started doing is the elders are going around giving "sheparding calls" to everyone in the congragation and asking them questions such as *( they said this from the platform) "what do you find the hardest about being in the truth" or something along those lines.. i think that just might be a local thing, but it is strange and over the many years they have never really done any thing like that.. and the emergency thing i thik is strange too.. maybee they think a disater will happen here.... just thought i would mention this 'cause i find it a little strange.. well not that strange, their always on to something new and crazy...
Welcome aatw!
Yes, they are following instructions from the Society. I believe it was in a KM insert. I think they found themselves unprepared after "Katrina" and learned a lesson.
The sheparding calls you mentioned might be in response to "local needs".
just reading this is making me sick.
i am sure the computer got a virus from these emails.
lol.
