the koran and the bible says to do the same acts of violence to anyone who worships a different god.. deuteronomy 13:6-8, it reads: "if thy brother, the son of thy mother.

or thy son, or thy daughter, or thy wife of thy bosom.

or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, let us go and serve other gods which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; (7) namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth unto the other end of the earth (8) thou shalt not consent unto him, nor harken unto him; neither shalt thou conceal him (9) but thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people.

Request - May 1974 Kingdom Ministry (1975 selling homes etc)

does anyone "out there" have a good scan of the may 1974 kingdom ministry - it is it often quoted for it's boldness about encouraging people to sell their homes.... .

reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of then-days in this old system in the pioneer service certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's .

i would be really grateful if anyone can dig it out.. .

When I was studying the Bible with them (1968), and they told me 1975 was going to wrap things up- I laughed at them, saying " YOU were the ones who showed me Jesus' words- that even HE didn't know the day nor the hour- only his Father! And now you say YOU do???"

I'm STILL a JW- who knows to ignore such drivel! It comes from "keeping it close in mind" as the scriptures advocate. The imagination is the problem !

What is concept of worship? Why would God want it so bad? I don't get it.

what is he really getting out of it???

but he wants it so much that if he can't get it, he will whack you out forever.. never felt like worshiping god but say thanks for great sunsets.....oompa.

Most don't even know what worship IS!

It is simply showing the Highest Honor.

I don't think it's a question of Him wanting it so bad- as much as the fact that He DESERVES it!

Jehovahs or Yawehs name ,JW's got it right?

ok i'll admit i just posted this to get rid of obve topic being stuck on the first page....but while i'm here i have'nt seen an explanation given here for whether the jw's are correct in putting gods name back into the old testament.. i just thought some here could voice their opinions on this for the benefit of new ones reading topics on this site.. as for me ,it does puzzle me as to why all versions of the old testament don't have it in all 6000 odd places ,seems to me people here could be seen as ignoring the hard questions if good reasons are'nt given to oppose the standard jw stand ,if indeed that needs to be done?

The reason is VERY simple- unless you have not proven to yourself the Bible is divine.

The Name is THERE. It was even in the Bibles brought over on the Mayflower. It is in countless art pieces and architecture thruout Europe. It's in the footnotes of any Bible that HAS footnotes. It's in the preface of the Revised Standard Version- which leaves it out everywhere else. I'ts in the American Standard Version, and others.

Judiasm, the Catholic Church, and the Church of England tried to erase it...but for SOME reason, it re-surfaced- and not just by us JWs!

So it's a matter of if your faith is REAL or not, as to if you, as Christ said in the "Lord's Prayer", show it HONOR.

Confused!! Help!!

ok so here goes...ive fallen for a guy, who seems perfect for me, everything ive ever wanted in a man, kind, sensitive, caring and reliable.

only problem is, he is not a jw and i sort of am, sort of meaning, i was brought up in the truth i have gone through rebelious stages and just passed them off as wanting to experience, i nearly married a jw but the night before the wedding he called it off and said he wasnt ready (we had sleot with each other beforehand, so he prob didnt see the point in going ahead anymore!

got what he had wanted!

That was the slickest twist on scripture I've seen in a long time! (Just read the part where the writer tries to discredit Russel's comments on dead really meaning DEAD! It was so cheap & phony, that I had no desire to read the rest- even tho I agree that the 1919 dogma is Utterly Ridiculous!
