I'm probably the 23984th person to point this out, but if you take a look on the main page, there's a link to an article in Britain's Guardian newspaper:

Now the reality is probably differnt, for the news personnel objected to this, and are fighting to regain their credibility. Perhaps this will be just an aberration, and objectivity will be restored.

I'm having my doubts. What's amazing is the glaringly obvious manipulation that has been happening in the media without explicit statements such as the one you mentioned. I only caught a glimpse of CNN on the 11th of September, and it was a disgrace to journalism. Within the first couple of hours after the event, the presentation became more and more overloaded with patriotic symbols (animated flags and so on), the language changed from "terrorist attack" to "war" with recurring references to Pearl Harbor, and pretty soon you could hear not-so-subtle military-like drumrolls mixed into the sound.

That's not journalism, it's cheap agitprop.

Tape record Oct. 7 meeting

could anyone who is attending the special meeting on october 7 arrange to tape record it?.

it would probably not be that hard to bring in one of those mini-cassette recorders and at least capture part of what is said.. i am sure others who are unable to attend the meeting would be interested in hearing a recording.

and if it turns out to be a "historic occasion," it would be nice for the world to have a document of it.. comment

Is this oh-so-exciting event only scheduled in the USA? Haven't heard anything about that in Europe so far.

If so, I guess it means The End(tm) isn't going to come real soon now. Phew! Or maybe they have received new light and will announce that "beast" status will be reassigned from the international U.N. to some US-based evil entity, such as Pizza Hut.

Oh, that's interesting. I remember one of Van's songs with the lines:

I just can't seem to remember the title of that song, possibly it's "A rose in Spanish Harlem". Funny to hear that he actually has a little bit of a JW background.

The INS (Immigration & Naturalization Service) could have vans ready to take non-citizen Muslims to federal facilities while their passage home is arranged. Then we need to expand that good work to include non-citizens from Islamic countries - we can review VISAs, university admission records, employment records, etc. and begin sending these people back to their comfy HOMES. An appeal could be made for Americans to report to the INS anyone they suspected of being a citizen of an Islamic state.

Uh-Hmm.

Nathan, quite frankly I like that idea much better than all those about full wars against this or that suspect country with no real idea about the enemy. Specifically, fantasies about turning this or that area into a parking lot (what's that obsession with parking lots anyway? Any psychoanalysts here?).

Even though I cannot imagine that anything remotely similar to "your" plan would ever be implemented in the USA, I wouldn't care _very_ much if it were. That does not mean I would not call it abysmally stupid and wrong, but hey, let people mess up their own countries if they like, let them wave their flags and babble about how free and great and god-blessed they are. Okay with me, as long as they keep the Napalm and nukes at home.

Oh, Nathan, you seem to have so many answers. I have a question. How do you know that a person is Muslim?

Dark-coloured face? Beard? Ask them, "are you Muslim"? Suspect country of origin? Suspicious looks? Crooked nose? What if he is, say, a British citizen? A German citizen?

I'm sure you'll come up with another brilliantly simple answer. We all need simple answers these days.

is evolution a fact or a theory?.

i suppose it depends on what you mean.. evolution in the sense of change from one generation to the next seams to be fact.. is well observed that offspring from a given creature will differ from the parent in different ways and thus after many generation can come to be quite different.. also that the genes of a creature can be affected by radiation from the sun and be alter in a novel way producing new and unique features in its offspring ( as long as the mutation is in the sperm or the egg).. that we came about via changes in the genes that eventually created a very different creature than that existed many generations ago , is that a fact?.

this requires that not only that there are changes between generation but also that these changes could be directed by different environments to such a degree that only certain specialised features could survive and reproduce offspring whilst other creatures have died out and only remain in fossilised form.. what evidence is there that such environments can and have existed?

Naeb, I enjoy your funny postings, but here you're talking complete crap.

That was another life lost to a regime of people which aimed to kill everyone of the wrong convictions or even just the wrong parents. Those who refused to join the ranks of the Wehrmacht faced a travesty of a "fair trial" and got executed.

Without his religious convictions, this Mr. Uran, if he existed, would have been sent to kill Allied soldiers and probably get killed himself.
