When I was in Istanbul this past summer, we were in Topkapi Palace when a large group (30-40) people came through on a tour...all wearing JW convention name badges from the summer convention! Sheesh....can't even go on vacation without advertising.

It's not a Christmas bonus...it is an "end of the year, coincidentally around the same time of the year as a pagan holiday, you did a good job" bonus!

I overheard a nauseating conversation . . .
by 144001 ini was in the produce section of a local market, when i happened to overhear the following comment: "we celebrate christ's birth every day of the year, not just on christmas!
" i turned and knew the nature of the source of the comment immediately, judging by the polyester pantsuit and delusional "deer in headlights" look on her face.
her companion replied, "but i like celebrating christmas and don't see anything wrong with it.

We used to do a thing called "Present Day" right around the end of December, often very close to the 25th...in looking back, it was pretty feeble attempt to celebrate Christmas under a plain wrap name. Now that I can look back with a clear head, me thinks if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck!! JW's delude themselves into being different while still trying to be the same...

Tell your sister that you will be happy to reconsider your decision if she can show you from the Bible where it specifies an earthly organization that directs God's work. No WT literature to support it, just the Bible. Then ask her to show how that is then identified as the WTBS.

Hi Alco Cop,
I too had the issue of being in law enforcement and thus not "exemplary". It was interesting that though I was a low time publisher and a "cop", they still had me read the WT and at the book study. It was also interesting that when it came time for security assistance during the district convention, guess who they called? Hmmm....
