  To answer Mad Sweeney, the WT purports to calculate the date of Nisan 14 every year which would correspond to the first full moon after the vernal equinox (March 21st) in Jerusalem...since the third century, Easter has been calculated as the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the northern hemisphere's vernal equinox. Good Friday (the Friday before Easter Sunday) would actually correspond more closely to the Lord's Evening Meal, but neither Good Friday or Easter are directly tied to Nisan 14 directly. The calculation for Easter was reported to be established by the Council Of Nicea to unify a method for celebrating Easter by all Christian churches using both the Gregorian and Julian calenders, but there is no proof that this was actually a Nicean decree. I am sure that the naysayers (such as the WTS) have embraced this as fact, proving apostasy through another one of those pesky Council of Nicea proclamations! LOL

  I think that many men (and women) indulge their fantasies by dabbling online. There are also a segment that are using online services as the local "meat market" for hook ups. With that being said, I don't think that online dating services are out of the question...they give you a chance to be exposed to a much larger group of people than you might be able to meet in your regular circle. Some services, like E-Harmony, are more relationship oriented, and thus more likely to attract people interested in that. Online dating is like any other venue for dating...go in with your eyes open and don't fall for a "good line"! Good luck...I know of a number of online success stories, so don't get discouraged.

  my parents became witnesses when i was four years old.

  even when i was younger i always had doubts (my sweet old grandparents were "wicked" and would be destroyed at armageddon???

  Welcome!

  Take your time and plan your exit carefully...if you want to maintain your family and friends, you will need to fade gradually and not "rock the boat". As you see your eyes opening more and more, this can be difficult...but don't be confrontational unless you are prepared to be shut out by family and friends. Good luck!

  i live in a gated mobile home park in california where no one is allowed to solicit door to door and today.

  i received a full page,handwritten invitation to the memorial, with the official tract printed by the watchtower.. it's a great way to get many hours of service just by staying in the comfort of your home but i'm wondering who's paying for postage, .

  .44cents per household...that could get pretty expensive since just in our park alone there are close to 700 homes!!!.

  My mom was telling me that she is doing letters to include with an invite. It is funny...she told me about it and then said she felt the letters would just be thrown away by the recipient, "but at least they are getting a witness"...what????

  I don't believe it is the burka that is the issue so much as the covering of the face. The argument goes that it makes identifying someone (such as during a police contact) very difficult and thus could even pose a safety issue to police officers. The face veils are likened to a man wearing a ski mask in public...also something that would be an issue. Many states have laws against tinted windows in cars for the same reason...

  Is there a new "full court press" to bring back "lost ones"?

  i ask the question because all of a sudden i am getting bombarded by my mother and other family members to "take my wife's hand and run back to jehovah before it is too late"!!

  i am getting e-mail with screen shots of the un website (http://www.un.org/en/peace) stating "peace and security", being told that this could likely be the last memorial celebrated and that the door to the ark will be closing soon.

  has anyone else been seeing an up-tick in these "prodigal son" appeals from jw friends and family?
