First marriage, 24 years (the last 10 which were less than ideal)...got df'ed and then adios to JW and wife #1.
Longest dating relationship, 3 years.
Met wife #2 and dated for 2 years, and now married for 8 great years.
and if you were dating someone "seriously", how long did that last?.

there is a smurf movie coming in july.
http://www.smurfhappens.com/ they look like the avatar in miniature.. do you think this time around jws will be able to see it, or are they still considered demonised?
will there be a new generation of kids hearing about smurfs running out of kingdom halls, and will they be told about it by the overlapping generation?.
Oh the horror!!! This is no doubt one more sign that we are quickly approaching the end. Satan has managed to project 3D images of his evil blue followers into theaters and homes to pollute and recruit young ones in to becoming one of his evil minions. This is the worst event since the Nephilim walked the earth...oh the horror of it all!
i would like to hear people's opinions on intolerant religious groups?
who wins?.
somehow, i have this notion that pentecostals would win 1st place, followed by baptists, followed by jw's.
I wouldn't rank Westboro Baptists as a real religious group...they are a fanatical cult, more political than religious.
I am Zid...fundamental/radical Muslims win hands down. JW's may wish they could kill you if you disagree, many predominant Muslim countries will oblige you. If you are a Muslim and convert to another religion, you subject to the death penalty under Sharia Law...I'd say that is pretty intolerant!
i've noted on here before that one point that got my attention was the small pool of scriptures that the gb seemed to use over and over again.
leaving out all the rest.
whole swathes of paul's werid and wonderful writings go ignored.
The WTS uses the scriptures that reinforce the worship of Jehovah (OT) and demphasize or ignore scriptures that focus on Jesus (NT). I would characterize their use of the Bible as being more Judeo than Christian, though they would vehemently deny that. Most of all though, JW's use scripture to support their doctrine and wield it like a weapon against their adherents to keep them controlled.
If I were to guess a percentage actually incorporated into supporting the JW theology, it is likely less than 25% of the Bible.
when i was studying in the truth book i laid aside quite a few questions, feeling that i was learning something important, and that those "nagging questions" would be answered in due course.
most of those questions have gone unanswered because i was led along, like a stupid pig with a ring in his nose, by other pseudo-questions of, really, non-importance.
i've had problems with conforming, if that is the word, with "correct speak" in the organization, and it has been apparant to most of the people i've known over the years.
I never understood why birthdays were evil and anniversaries were good...why it was such a big deal that Jesus died on a stake versus a cross...just exactly how the WTS could be so sure they were the chosen ones after 1900 years had passed.
I guess I had alot of back burner issues!!

it's one of those battles that can be very difficult to beat.
i do not blame my jw past for my weight gain, i just didn't do anything about it because one day i was going to be perfect and it didn't matter.. in past years i've lost weight, picked up again and usually more, and then lost again.
in those times that i applied myself i genuinely was sincere and thought my mind was made up.
Hi LouBelle,
The battle of the bulge is actually a war! I have fought the various skirmishes for years, and I think you are on the right track in going with the basics of healthy eating, portion control and exercise. One program that I have found very useful is Weight Watchers Online. It is not magical, but it definitely helps you organize and track the right kinds of foods and exercise. I found it to be very helpful in keeping me on track. I finally got to my goal weight and have found that maintaining it is much easier with the continued tracking of what and how much I am eating. I wish you the best...don't get discouraged...remember it is a lifestyle, not a diet!

Any time an article exposing something negative about JW's is published, any value or truth in it will be negated by incorrect statements like the "selling books" comment. It will immediately close a JW's mind as that untruth is all they will see...I agree with the earlier posters that this article will have no value in opening a JW's eyes.
for the first time in 7 years--i had a call last tuesday morning--hooray!!.
i was about to leave the house with my wife--when i saw the blurred outline of someone approaching my front porch.. i opened the inner obscure door--to see a young woman with a pram stood there--&--a young man with her was talking to my neighbour over the fence,---showing him a magazine.. i closed the inner door to--& told my wife we had visitors---when i reopened the door--the couple were walking away down the path!.
so i still havent had the chance to do any anti-witnessing---dohhhh.. .
I don't think the length of time that has passed since a visit is unusual...I have been out now for 15 years, and I have never once had someone call at my door. I don't think that I was be marked as a DF'ed one, especially since I moved to a new location 100 miles away from my previous congregation right after I was DF'ed. I don't know if that is typical or I am just in an area with poor JW activity, but if people's lives in my area depend on hearing the message, they are toast!
there are many new posters here, and i'm very interested to learn why you chose your screen names.. .
one book i read, the mists of avalon, was very important to me.
among the main characters was merlin, who in the book, was called "taliesen".
Mine was dual purpose...when I picked it I was 10 years out of the Borg, and I also happen to love the music of Ten Years After...their Woodstock performance of I'm Going Home was incredible!
