My grandma is "Jehovah" this and "service" that. If she was younger (and not my grandma), I'd tell her to get a life!

Man, my head hurts...
by siegswife indiscussing the wachtower with an active drone is worse than the morning after drinking a bottle of tequilla.
it's worse than banging your head against a steel wall.
it's a freaking effort in futility.

I was part of a huge top-secret experiment
by Quotes injust had a flashback i thought i would share.. i distinctly remember, when i was only about 8 or 10 years old, suddenly having what one might call an epiphany.. i thought that my entire life and existence was part of some huge social science experiment (of course i didn't use this language when i was 10 years old, but am simply trying to use the correct words to describe my childish feelings).. i felt that my parents weren't really my parents, but were part of the stimulii to provoke a reaction from me; a reaction which was intensely studied by unseen scientists who were watching me, 24/7.
i speculated about whether or not my school friends were "in on it" of if that was "real world" and only my home life was part of the study.. here's the kicker.
i thought that the whole jw religion was the centerpiece of the experiment.

Culture is actually somethinge all exhibit. When you said this:
but were part of the stimulii to provoke a reaction from me; a reaction which was intensely studied by unseen scientists who were watching me
, It made me think of the intercultural communications class I took. In fact we are all programmed (according to our culture) how to react to certian stimulii. You're remark about your family is correct. The family is the primary (and first) institution to instill culture into you. Many western people are unaware that they have "culture" but we do. And for the scientists, yes, there are scientists who study the way people act and react in society (sociologist, psycologists, communication majors, etc).

Jesus 1st coming vs. Jesus 2nd coming
by forgetmenot inwhat was the purpose of jesus first coming if he has to come back later and do it all over again?
why didn't he just do what he said he would the first time?
it would seem as though jesus accomplished nothing.

I've heard alot about studies done on the American public. Supposedly we're all getting really fat! Overwieght people abound on the everday streets of America (supposedly). Okay, so if we're getting fatter, how come clothes in stores are getting smaller (Minnie Skirts, baby tees, bikini's, small shoes (that might not have to do with weight...), tiny pants (hip huggers and flares: very small pant legs), etc?

big plans
by forgetmenot innotice: i think these are questions for christians.... okay, dub's have big plans for the future: preaching, armageddon, paradise on earth, perfect people.... does anyone here believe that whatever is right now, is exactly the way god wants it?
.
and if jesus is going to come in the future and solve all of our problems with peace on earth, what was the point of him coming the first time?

VioletAnai:
It seems unsettling that God got all other creation right (since I was told somewhere along the line that cats aren't going to be resurrected and therefor they must be perfect?)and we are the only thing that messed up. If God knew that we were going to mess up, why did he create us ? Or why did he create us so that it would be impossible for us to resist sin?
It is also very unsettling to me, that God finds us such an obstacle to perfect. We are talking about "Almighty God" here! Does it not occur to you that if he wanted everything to be "okay" so bad, he would do it in a much faster way? None of this crap about he's waiting for more to find his "true religion." If he really felt that bad about whatever is going on now, he'd change it right now. Do we forget that God is ALL POWERFULL? If he really is SOO POWERFULL he would click his "fingers" and everyone would be converted. It's retarded to think God has to obey any "laws" or go through this kind of legal process to get this stuff done.
"That's why he's purposed from the beginning to redeem us...." -- Seems like a little predestination there...Are you sure this is what you want to say?
(I have answers to my questions...but I'm wondering if anyone else does.)

meaning of life questions
by ballistic indo you remember those articles called "what is the meaning of life?".
there was almost one in every watchtower and books such as "live forever" had chapters devoted to the subject.
i think there was a picture of some lonely guy looking out to sea across a sunset with that typical witness depressed but joyfull look.. any way, i was thinking to myself after finding such an article on the web that i haven't been pre-occupied by such questions since leaving the borg.

Nathan Natas: Is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy any good. I was just in an English Lit class where one group of the class had to do a presentation on it. They said it started really slow. It seemed a little odd...Is it worth reading?

Person who believes:
All matter and all energy (including un-tangible emotions such as love) = God
Small part of matter and energy (including un-tangible emotions such as love) = Jesus = part of God
Tiny pieces of matter and energy (including untangible emotions such as love) = humans, animals, plants, etc. = smaller part of God
Everyone is "saved": they don't go to hell and they don't go to heaven (per say) but they are allowed to exist in a form other than the physical. Everyone is "saved" because they all have some element of matter and energy (including un-tangible emotions such as love). People are defined by their environment - so the feelings of love may be clouded (this is why humans can't jugde each other) Life is a roller coaster: you can ride again if you want.
Is the person a Christian?
