  just a typical marital counseling session?????

  so how did it go some have asked?

  at some point the lady therapist asked me what was probably my number one concern....it just came out...."i don't know if i can stay married to a jw"...wife burst into tears...and never let up...not even on the way back to drop me off at work...i also said in session i would prefer an open minded wife, and i don't think wife would pick me now either...not an unbeliever, not an overdrinker, and that marriage to me meant being able to share pretty much everything with one another, my feelings, my friends, my concerns, and that i did not like living a double life...and explained what that was too......she of course said she would stay in the marriage, and mentioned the adultery only rule...so i said it sounds like she feels she is stuck with me...she said it sounds like our marriage is already over....the lady says she does know for a fact that jw's do indeed get divorced without sex sins...cause she has counseled more that one couple like us...one in, one out....that ended with divorce.

  i did say nice things about her...said the things i love.....and vice verse...and we both said we wanted the marriage to work....so at least a good basis for continuing the sessions.....the lady wants us to find common ground and just ignore the religious difference for now...i said great but how can we do that when the religion is all encompassing to my wife...it is everything....i will be glad to go to the ground if she can find it....but she never got a chance to find it yet...we ran out of time.

  oompa - just again want to express my sympathy for what you are having to go through. i've seen the tears as well. it's amazing how wrapped up we can let a man made organization make us and limit our thinking. and it's sad when one partner sees through the cloud faster than the other. take heart - there are many who are making it work. your wife i think will definately have to make some concessions along the way and that is dependent on her love for you. but give her some time to do so as well as we all know how difficult thinking outside the WT box is at first.

  LOL - sir82 - i certainly cannot answer your questions and claim no theory as to the validity of the biblical account.

  Just thought it was an interesting story that someone believed enough to go to the trouble of doing that...

  when was this released? i hadn't heard about it. now there are only american indians in paradise...weird....LOL. the WT is good about becoming whatever they need to be to try to attract people - they come across as having one intention, and too late you learn about the man behind the curtain.

  well i'm certainly not going to give advice on how to deal w/ the wife...but i certainly will wish you the best and hope you can work things out. i loved my wife dearly and even though we no longer had 'jw-life' to share, i still loved who she was at the core of herself. if you still feel that way about yours, i hope you can reconcile the religious differences.

  when i got home from work this evening there was an awake in my door.

  as i skim thru it, i notice a comment on page 29 under from our readers, "what does the future hold for christianity.

  ss from the u.s. wrote that he/she believes that the jw's just love to tear down other religions, yet .

  yeah - i remember reading that QFR and thinking BullCrap!!! You read the JW only Watchtower now and there is a very clear and defined - we are right, everybody else is wrong mindset - and if they try to tell you differently they are evil! How they can get off writing - we don't think we're better than anyone else just to try to appease Joe Blow is beyond me...

  so my move to a new city is now complete.

  it comes at the expense of losing my wife and my life for the past 30 + years - i still somehow feel at peace.

  That's all I wanted from her. I can't imagine how after finding out the truth about "The Truth(R)" she could still want to believe in it

  yeah - i had hoped the same. i even presented the info in the manner of these are just some things i've discovered and that are leading to my self-evaluations - and i want you to understand why i'm making the decisions i am - i told her i had no intention of trying to change her thinking and was completely able to let her have her own spiritual growth as she needed to and hoped she could respect mine. alas that wasn't the case - due in part i think to a lot of pressure from her parents.

  but - every situation is different and the fact she is asking is a positive sign. she may just be asking so she can try to refute them, but you never know if something will catch her interest like something initially caught yours, mine, and most other people's on this board.

  again - best of wishes - especially due to my situation i pray for every other person in a marriage to be able to get their partner out safely.

  What's up flipper! My move is complete to Jacksonville... both pros and cons. I have a new life in front of me and I'm happy my opportunities are expanding. I know nobody here though, so part of me yearns for friends to experience life with. I'm opening up more and more on this board - someone could probably read my posts and figure out who i was if they knew me easily enough. I find I don't worry about it much anymore. Either people will accept me for who I am - which is a great person regardless of religous denominational affiliation - or they won't. I'm happy with who I am becoming.
