  A tear came to me eye when I read this.

  I cannot believe I kept myself blinded for so many years and followed that type of reasoning.

  A dying girl! For goodness sake every last thing you could possibly do to increase their level of happiness should be a priority. Something as simple as attending a birthday party in their honor knowing they will not have another. Reminds me so much of the Pharisees who lost their ability to have love, mercy, and justice. Witnesses are becoming more cold-hearted I believe as they cling to their fading hopes of the end.

  Hence a girl leaves a dying friend upset.

  Hence my wife leaves me.

  Hence so many on here have to deal w/ troubled marriages.

  May God have mercy on them - I know my course is to show as much love possible for the remainder of my life. Man will no longer dictate to me what my "Goodness" is or how it should be displayed.

  I'm not good association......

  i've been away from jwd for a month or so.

  i've just been busy in life and am trying to rebuild, or should i say, make new friendships but it is slow-going.

  missinglink and i haven't been to any meetings since april and have no plans in going back.

  I've come to many of the same conclusions as you. For awhile I thought I could have it both ways. But there is too high level of judgemental attitudes prevelent in JW's whether they realize they are doing it or not. I decided I needed to put on a "new" personality if you will. Best wishes to you and your mate as you deal with these issues. I've pretty much accepted the fact I will not be associated with any of my former friends but realize it's their choice not mine. I open myself as a friend to whoever is willing to accept me for who I am, as I accept them for who they are. You'll find you develop many more friendships quickly as you take this outlook - and friendships based on a deeper and more satisfying strength than simply belonging to the same denomination.

  OK I get a little confused!

  for the past few years i have lived in jacksonville, ar and my sis in jacksonville, fl.. try moving to a different place with the same name as the place you just left!!.

  tv commercials for stuff in the same town as i was in.......and for a minute i had to think....wow, i did not know they had that here(ar).

  and they both have a military base.. but, they don't both have a beach.. i will be ok.. purps.

  i live about 6 blocks from the landing - great place to catch some live music on the weekends. Purps is now my jacksonville buddy. we're doing dinner august 6th - that's right, everybody be jealous. :)

  so yes, the brothers came for "encouragement" and of course, my husband is out of town on business... so it was me and the kids.. so i did let them in, i like these brothers...these are some things we discussed.... 1. i went over how that stupid "obey" email got all this started, got me to divulge to my girlfriend how i was feeling about the whole religion.

  about how at the end of the call she said that she can't associate with me anymore, and then right after that call/ 30seconds later while i'm crying a pioneer called and asked "do you consider yourself one of jeh witnesses anymore??

  " and i thought that was crazy for someone to try to trap me when i was sitting crying on the phone, upset with the last call... i told them that for all purposes i am already dfed since noone will talk to me anymore, and only one friend called to see what happened, everyone else just listened to the gossip of whatever spread, and wrote me off even though i'm technically in good standing.

  Congrats New Light. It's scary at first but in the end I've found be honest and true to ones self is the most refreshing thing there is. Best Wishes on your journey out and hopefully it won't get much more painful. It's hard sometimes to let go of the things we've known and loved for so long - including friends - but once we realize we no longer share a common goal and that life has a million more wonderful moments waiting for us, it helps ease the burden somewhat.

  BETTER/WORSE than a worldly person?"

  after your own personal experiences within the jws, do you conclude that the normal rank and file jw is worse than a person in the "world", better, or no different.

  One thing i have to comment on - is i met a Christian girl this weekend who was raised in a non-Denominational Christian church. Over the course of the weekend we talked more about Christ's love and commitment to Christian values than i ever had w/ any JW. JW's like to talk the talk, but rarely does it carry over into a real love. What i experienced in conversation this weekend assured me that "worldly people" can have as much or often even more love for Christ in their hearts and true commitment than most jw's.

  Received my Voter's ID Card today!

  received my voter's id card today for the first time ever - just my next step on seperation from my former life!

  i'm excited about getting involved in the community now and helping shape my city/state/country for the better instead of sitting around and lamenting on how "evil" everything is :).

  interesting post purplesofa.... i just wonder how they think the world would currently operate if no one actually voted. then would we all just listen to the governing body to make every decision for every city, county, state, country in the world? like that would work very well?

  just a typical marital counseling session?????

  so how did it go some have asked?

  at some point the lady therapist asked me what was probably my number one concern....it just came out...."i don't know if i can stay married to a jw"...wife burst into tears...and never let up...not even on the way back to drop me off at work...i also said in session i would prefer an open minded wife, and i don't think wife would pick me now either...not an unbeliever, not an overdrinker, and that marriage to me meant being able to share pretty much everything with one another, my feelings, my friends, my concerns, and that i did not like living a double life...and explained what that was too......she of course said she would stay in the marriage, and mentioned the adultery only rule...so i said it sounds like she feels she is stuck with me...she said it sounds like our marriage is already over....the lady says she does know for a fact that jw's do indeed get divorced without sex sins...cause she has counseled more that one couple like us...one in, one out....that ended with divorce.

  i did say nice things about her...said the things i love.....and vice verse...and we both said we wanted the marriage to work....so at least a good basis for continuing the sessions.....the lady wants us to find common ground and just ignore the religious difference for now...i said great but how can we do that when the religion is all encompassing to my wife...it is everything....i will be glad to go to the ground if she can find it....but she never got a chance to find it yet...we ran out of time.

  oompa - just again want to express my sympathy for what you are having to go through. i've seen the tears as well. it's amazing how wrapped up we can let a man made organization make us and limit our thinking. and it's sad when one partner sees through the cloud faster than the other. take heart - there are many who are making it work. your wife i think will definately have to make some concessions along the way and that is dependent on her love for you. but give her some time to do so as well as we all know how difficult thinking outside the WT box is at first.

  LOL - sir82 - i certainly cannot answer your questions and claim no theory as to the validity of the biblical account.
