  What was wrong with the 'occultic green' bibles?

  what was wrong with the 'green bible'?.

  i understand (rightly or wrongly) that the 'green' had occult connotations that some did not approve of.. is this true and were the early jws too involved with hidden, esoteric, occult meaning that 'others' found uncomfortable and so they had to go to the sobre black bibles?.

  Can you get disfellowshipped for anything?

  cant the elders make it so that any deviation or any thought could be considered "loose conduct" and therefore a disfellowshipping offense?

  You can only be DFed for one thing, A bad attitude, or some call it conduct unbecoming. The problem is this encompasses many things including a bad attitude against the org.

  If a person does one thing but then is repentant and the elders want to df them, they can say they are practicing sin and so need to be DFed.

  THE best sentence in the whole Bible that summarizes what i think...

  "what is truth?".

  35 years of a jw life i have come to the conclusion that this got to be the best sentence in the bible and reflects my thinking.

  three words......only three words, in form of a question that could have saved me over 30 years of %$#% experiences with the wt.. think about the deepness of this sentence....

  And the neocons keep spewing how there is no global warming, I can tell you as some one who lived in the noth usa and used to get so much snow in one night that you could not find your car and we had trenches that went over 8feet tall and they had to put extensions on the plows each winter, I have not seen this in many years, some years we do not even get enough snow to run a snow machine on. I have seen them have to truck in snow from the parking lot piles to have enough to run the races. Things are much different than when I was young, Out of one side of Limbaughs fat mouth he says that the warming is from the sun and it is natural and then out of the other side he spewes that there is no such thing as global warming. The only thing they are trying to do is to confuse the stupid.

  Why such boring & canned answers at the WT Study?

  back in th 1980s, the answers at the watchtower study & the book study seemed much more interesting.

  more personal experiences that somehow related to the question being asked.

  nowadays it seems all answers are just repeated from the text, or consist of reading a bible verse.

  I left many years ago, and the answers have always been canned, They were so "spoon fed" that they had to keep saying to "use your own words" but make the point given to you in the writings.

  There never has been an air of free tought answers, If you did you would have been show the door to the wood shed. LOL

  Heard is just an uncle tom who wants to live in the big house with master. I gress if I could not work for a living and live off of people who really work for a living, even if they give it to an idiot org. Crazy people saying insane things.

  Look carfully at the people who are going to the hall, many are people on the edge of living in the looney bin. I once talked to a lady we will call laney danenberg, she would tell evey one that the united states bombed japan and started ww2, When I said I think you have that backwards, she went into a tieraid on how I bought into the propaganda. You can not argue with these people just keep the hell away from them.

  What is your strangest "supernatural" JW story?

  i had just became a witness and a guy i worked with, who was also a jw, told me a story that actually made me laugh and i think it upset him a bit.

  the storys were almost always in the third person.

  it went as follows.. this brothers wife and him were sitting at the kingdom hall on the end seats of the row next to the back of the room.

  I have heard many storys over the years, and the smurf one was big in the 80s, I still do not know why they dubbers hate the smurfs so bad.

  The story I was told by the elder involved so it came from the person it was supposed to happen to.

  In Wolverine Michigan there was an elder whos wife left him to become a conutry singer, [she had slept with several brothers from the hall] any way this elder got remarried to another sister, we will call them Daryl LauraTucker [names changed to protect the innocent] They move into the same old trailer that Daryl lived with his formar wife, Laura started to have things be rearanged when they would come home from meetings, She would see eyes in the family photos turn red and glow, After a lot of this type of thing they called a local elder we will call him Richard Schroder, so in come the elders and pray and do the witness rain dance, and they are led to a blanket stuffed underneath the bathtub, they remove it and still they have problems.

  I have no idea what a blanket has to do to channel deamons, But problems keep presisting. So in come the ghost busters again, this time after much praying they are led to the crawl space under the trailer, there they find a box of china that has crosses on them. Richard and Daryl take the box of china to the Wolverine land fill, it is not good enough to just toss the box in the dump, they have to wear gloves and slam the plates togeather shattering them, after the deed is done, they drive out of the land fill and head for home, Richard Schroder told me that the splinters of glass in his gloves were still channeling deamons and the glovers started to choke him, he fought to take off the glovers and threw them out of the truck and drove off.

  From what Richard told me there was no other problems. LOL

  Do I believe this story, Hell no, But I know Richard and can tell you that if you watch people who have problems with "demons" it is always the same emotional people who have these so called problems, I am sure that some people make up storys to get attention, but many are just emotinal people who let their mind run wild.

  Funny how it was Richards duaghter, We will call here Robbin, When she tried to commit sueside on herself and her children the elders [Richard her dad and her uncle Gary we will call him] covered up the attempt by saying that the demons attacked. I have so many things in my home that a dubber would cringe at, crosses given to me by a catholic priest, I am an atheist btw, and I collect iron crosses of the third reich, [no I am not a nazi, I love the history of ww2] and many other items that they would burn, I have never had one experiance that could be said to be supernatrial. LOL These people can be whipped up into a frenzi faster than emril can go BAM

  There is one small silver lining to this cloud, The dubbers have to pay for all thier gas and they get nothing to deduct or any compinsation. I find it funny when I drive by a hall on sat. and see the cars. LOL Go for it butholes!! LOL This is less money they have to give the world wide ripoff.

  you know whats always bothered me intensely?

  .. when witnesses (esp.

  pioneers) have all the little wt extras, such as the wt year agenda, the wt removable book covers, bible with their name printed on the leather cover, the rv book with the little tower logo on it, "pens from patterson" etc.

  The only reason the society keeps it going is becasue anything that makes you more involved in the society they love it, Anything that keeps people attached to the org. is good for the org. People who make something personalized are much more likely to form an attachment to that thing, and are much harder to show the error of their ways.

  The society knows this and in a shamfull way they use anything that works for them, I talked to a psycoligist once and they said that they had studied the dubbers and that there was no doubt that the governing body knows what it is doing and is using these tacticts to control its members, can anyone say cult?

  Witness fear of demons why?

  during my ten year sojourn through the watchtower, i was always amazed at the witnesses fear and fascination with demons.

  occasionally at gatherings, they would exchange "demon" stories, which were just a jw way of telling ghost stories, and you would usually hear a few "uhhs" and "oh my's" as the story was told.

  although i had heard folks of other denominations mention demons, it was never with the "shock and awe" the witnesses put into it.

  As Al Gore said about the republicans They played on our fears. This is what orginizations do when they do not have any substance. They play on your fears. Do not vote Democrat the terrorists will win, do not stop supporting the society the demons will attack you. Same control tatic same use of fear.

  I dont vote Republican and I dont support the society.
