Although I hate JWs they don't cut heads off.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult just as evil and dangerous as Islam?
by cookiemaster ini know you might think i'm exaggerating but if you really think about it, maybe i'm not.
these two religions originate with the same ancient belief system.
islam is a dangerous middle eastern cult that seeks to control every aspect of its members' lives.

Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?
by nonjwspouse ini don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.
this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.
my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.

Remember the " truth is only for those deserving to hear it" They were giving the cult followers the go ahead to lie if it helped the cult.

Why do ones that got out come back in?

i do not intend to go back but one thing has me baffled.

I have seen this in people who were raised in the cult never did anything in it and at old age 60s and up come back. I think some people want to believe that there is something after this life when they are looking at their mortality. For me its rearranging the furniture on the titanic. Just because you want it to be true does not make it so.

I can remember him saying "I know after Armageddon I can not be married to her but maybe we can live next to each other. Not sure where the cult stands on this issue today. They used to believe no one who was brought back to life would ever be able ot marry. Its disturbing on several levels. One is that if you are lucky enough to have a spouse that is a friend you can not be as close to them after the big A as before. Don't get me wrong, I don't buy a single thing the cult or for that matter the bible teaches. But its sad that people follow the cult that makes them feel sad and inadequate.

Western intervention is to blame for the murder of LGBT Iraqis - WTF?!
by LoveUniHateExams injust came across this article by amrou al-khadi (a gay iraqi-born journalist who's living in the uk).. karar nushi, an iraqi actor, was found murdered in baghdad yesterday for rumours of his sexuality.
apparently, he'd been receiving death threats due to his 'transgressive appearance' leading up to this.. the author apparently blames western intervention for iraqis killing gay people in iraq:.
"i am a queer iraqi, and feel enormously privileged to live safely in london when i hear about such news.

Muslims never take the blame for their actions. We should have turned it all to glass.

How does one cope with the sudden and unexpected loss of a parent?
by My Name is of No Consequence inmy dad died of a blood clot as a result of surgery late last year.
to say that his death created a bottomless void in our family is an understatement.
i think about him every day, sometimes constantly.

A sudden loss is very hard. I lost my mother when she was 57 and it was unexpected. The shock was difficult. Time will not so much take away the pain but it will mute it. The roller-coaster of emotion is also hard to deal with. One second you will tell yourself its OK the next you want to curl up on the floor. Every one deals with the loss in different ways. I can remember the day my mother passed I was telling my wife to go pick up a check for work I had done and get tires on my work van, calling to get a water heater replaced ect. I got some looks from family like I did not care. My mind would not let me deal with situation. It had to sink in and it took several days just to get the idea she was gone in my mind. Now when I see someone acting a bit funny after losing someone I am not so quick to judge.

The point at which you think this may not be the truth
by LevelThePlayingField ini remember one of the nights that i found out the truth wasn't the truth, that is after finding out about the united nations, i remember riding my bicycle from like 1am till 5am in the city night.
it was rather chilly, maybe about 55-60 degrees and i was playing pink floyd's dark side of the moon album in my earbuds.
just riding and riding, not really tiring because of the thought that 7 men in brooklyn had duped me, duped me for like 20 plus years.

For me it was the internet. Before the mid 90s we former JWs had no real way to look into their history. It was burred and hidden. Not talked about. My Grandfather who was in the cult since the mid 30s was a CO and Special Pioneer in the 50s and 60s. He was then an elder for the remainder of his life. He knew a lot of this history and would not say shit with a mouth full about it. Once the internet came out and people who knew started to create sites showing the truth. As I read and found out the true history of cult and Ray Franz I really started to think there is some BS going on here. For years before this I knew that their 1914 date had a sell by on it. If this generation could not pass away there was an outer limit to timeline. Then in 95 when the usual suspect idiots changed the very meaning of Generation that was hands down it for me. I remember saying I am out. I can still remember saying to one elder this was BS and he replied he was glad to see the society clarify the meaning. What a load of shit. They did not clarify a thing they changed the rules to the game mid game.

by Bad_Wolf ini would pick this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th2w6oxx0kq.
i don't know how so many are happy or fine if thinking this life is it.
haven't lost parents yet, but when with them, sometimes i'll think of this song.
