  how much are the JWs worth?

  it has been said that the mormon church is worth upwards of $30 billion.

  how does this compare to the jws?.

  isn't extraordinary how both of these fakes keep on taking and taking (_your_money, for jw lurkers & trolls) but don't appear to put it back into society?.

  nyt1: you best your ass they aren't too bright. They can't seem to realize that they have filfilled scripture (Deut 18:22) many, many times over the last hundred years.

  But dumb as they are, the rank and file is even dumber. They stay in the Borg when they should just walk out. It doesn't get any dumber than that.

  (btw, If Ray Franz says the GB ride in limos, eat in fancy restaurants, and fly first class all over the world where they stay in five star hotels, then I believe it. Ray Franz has more honor in his little finger than the entire population of Bethel has in its entire collective body.)

  Question for the ExJW's

  in mormonism, usually when someone leaves the church, the members give one of two reason for that person leaving.

  1. they couldn't live the standards of the church.

  or 2. someone in the church had hurt their feelings.. my question is: is this the usual reason the jw's give when this happens to someone who leaves?

  In short, there is no honorable way to leave the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses. Never mind that the religion violates your own sense of sense of mercy, justice, compassion and truth by continuing submission to its outworn system of lies, failed prophecy, deceit, and error.

  Can you feature it? A dishonorable organization disallowing any one of its members to leave with honor on an issue of principle. It's enough to make a mule fall over laughing - if it weren't so pathetic.

  Blood Products - A poll

  i couldn't resist!.

  keeping on topic however, i am wondering what your stance is on blood?.

  I would - and did - accept a blood transfusion after my hemoglobin count went down to EIGHT after internal bleeding consequent upon a broken pelvis. Actually, I had three units of whole blood transfused. And I'd do it again.

  That said, I'd prefer not to have blood transfused due to the fact that diseases of all kinds CAN be, and HAVE BEEN, transmitted via blood transfusions. So my hesitancy is practical, not religious. I'd go the autologous route if time allowed and it was unavoidable.

  In the circumstance contemplated, there was no time. And I was sending EKG signals that said "heart attack" so I accepted the blood and have experienced no ill effects. And don't expect any.

  this was a post i made six months ago, some of you may have missed it.

  i have watched many responses from those within the organization that endeavor to defend the current watchtower policy toward pedophiles.

  the most common response seems to be that any accused child molester is reported to the watchtower legal department and then reported to local authorities with cooperation from the local elders.

  It really matters little what the WT does in advance to "prepare" JWs for what's coming in the Dateline and other news magazine reports dealing with pedophilia. Public opinion is likely to become even more inflamed when all the society does to cover up pedophilia is disclosed via these programs.

  As strange as it may seem, there is in operation in our culture a powerful set of unwritten laws about people and organizations that protect child molesters.

  However, I can say that - as a result of doing some communications consulting with the State Department of Corrections in Georgia - that child molesters have to be keep in administrative segregation in state prisons, in EVERY state. The reason? When the murderers, rapists, bank robbers, extortionists, and other violent types discover they have a child molester in their midst, they unfailingly administer "jailhouse justice" to the abuser.

  And it ain't pretty.

  Typically, they administer the same kinds of treatment to the abuser that the abuser forced on helpless little children. After they've had their fun with him, the abuser ends up taking the eternal celestial dirt nap courtesy of his jailhouse jury.

  So even hardened criminals won't tolerate a child molester (but the JWs will and DO!). If that doesn't bring "reproach" upon "Jehovah's organization" I don't know what does.

  Flood and bristlecone pine

  i mentioned that the dc in our area featured a talk where the speaker, as an illustration of endurance, mentioned methusaleh, the bristlecone pine that had lived for 4700+ years.

  i asked here for some possible explanations of this that allow for the wt flood dating.

  i had assumed that the standard response would be that the dating of the tree was wrong, that the rings had gotten doubled a few times or something.

  There are only a few species of tree that can live underwater, and then the tops still must be in the air and exposed to the sun. If not, no conversion of sugars takes place. The most famous I guess is the cypress. But again, the greenery must be exposed to sunlight. It's just simply amazing how religious fanatics can come up with the most incredible bullshit in defense of the indefensible. And then want to be taken seriously. What a hoot!

  Preston, you're right on.

  At my KH just outside Atlanta, there was the one elder, C.B. Mitchell, who loved to get up after the ministry school and light into everyone for going rollerskating at a rink down in Riverdale. He was a veritable broken record on the subject.

  While he was worrying about rollerskating, there was incestuous child abuse going on right in front of his nose in that congregation. Those guys are not trained to recognize when the potential for something serious is present and so they miss it completely.

  Rollerskating? My ass!

  i bumped into an old m.s.

  who has not yet realized that i haven't gone to a meeting in about 20 months and asked me if i had my district convention yet.

  i said no that it was "coming up".. he then told that there was "new information" given and an "adjustment" in the way we do things.

  after reading the diary, i stated that this was the classic writing of a paranoid schizophrenic.

  That was certainly the writing of a very disturbed individual, and as stated contains many indicators of schizophrenia. Whatever the condition, the writer is not in touch reality and that is the core definition of the psychotic state.

  Mommy is right, IMO, when she implies that the situation isn't funny. It isn't. That person really has no life as we all would define it and will very likely end up a bag lady - or worse.
