WoMD ... so where are they?

now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!

perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.

now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

I think I've made myself very clear about this. A few of us had a thread going a couple of weeks ago, and we were tooling along enjoying ourselves, minding our own business when BOOM, along comes Simon intoning how he was "tired of all this bullshit" or words to that effect and ZAP, our little thread was locked.

Apparently Simon can permit whatever he wants even if the topic has been beaten into a bloody pulp - like this one so long as HE likes it, but the r&f cannot enjoy it's little thread on a topic Simon doesn't care for without him locking our thread. AND there's no favoritism on this site...in a pig's eye there isn't.

Simon, I really don't care if there IS favoritism on this site, but I'd appreciate your having the balls to admit it. Since this is an anti-US site, I'd have to guess that it will go in in perpetuity, since you like it so much. But Jesus Christ don't let the r&f get a thread going on a topic that makes you "tired of this bullshit" or we'll be locked down tighter than a crab's ass.

JWs in the Divine Purpose was pretty bad as well. It is the JWs apologia, or is supposed to be. What it really is is the JW mea culpa.

They just don't seem to be able to get anything right.

Surname Change: your opinions please

hey folks.. i have been debating for some time about changing my surname.. as it stands, it's in its typical patriarchial form (my father's surname) and honestly, i'd like to change it to my mother's surname.. i would not deny that my father was my father, but i cannot say that he, or his family have been ever there for me.

my memories of them, for the most part are awful.. my mother is no angel, nor is she perfect, but i do have some connection to that side, and my grandmother (maternal) is my number 1 support person in the family.

when i think back at family that were there for me during rough times, it was relatives on my mom's side.

Way back my clan was MacIntosh which has a "pretty good" tartan. The MacIntoshes where eventually subsumed into the Taril clan and over the years that evolved into the Terrell, or Tyrrell clan.

No Food Coolers at Assemblies!

wasn't there a post quite awhile ago where someone brought this up?

i recall that someone said that for lunch they had to go out to the local mini-mart and grab a hot dog that was simmering all day on the grill!

now, before you say, "nope, it's all bullsh*t", i'm convinced that a number of truly weird/psychic things have happened in my life.

No connection at all. Spirituality exists outside the realm that yields its secrets to determinism, reductionism, logic or any other function of the left brain; nor is it measurable. It's just one of those "faith" things.

What is a generation?

i think we all know about the changing definiition of "generation" by the watchtower society.

i thought i would highlight history in terms of generations.

my great grandfather was born in 1850. that would make him 29 when russell started his religion.

This "generation" definition thing is just another example of a cult doing what cults do best - covering their asses so that contributions continue to roll in. Has nothing to do with truth, justice or the American way.

We can get on the board here, and foam at the mouth about how little sense it makes, etc., etc. and the GB is merely amused at our naivety. We act like the JWs are so off the mark with this and they don't give a big crap. They continue to do what they do best: be cultists.

Somehow or other we seem to be saying we continue to expect truth from this bunch of shysters. We should stop treating them like religious leaders who are off the mark, and treat them for what they are: perfect examples of greedy corporate heads who run a religious cult and make money therefrom. Once you realize who and what they are and what they're doing, then there's no reason to be angry any longer.

Scorpions sting us - it's part of being a scorpion, stinging is what THEY DO.

The WTBTS behaves like an unrighteous, immoral, unethical, greedy, money grubbing CULT. It's what THEY DO. Get your family out if you can, your friends too, and then get over it.

There is vastly more to this life than being an ex-Witness.

Had a Conversation with a Young JW Lady at the Bus Stop

there was a young blonde lady who was passing out the wt & awake magazines at the bus stop where i was waiting for the bus to go downtown..... i started having a conversation with her by starting out about charles taze russell.

i told her that of all of my readings of the works of c.t.

russell, not one time did he ever teach that jesus was michael the archangel..... so i told her about this quote....zions watchtower and herald of christs presence, their official magazine of doctrine, 1879, page 48, which is teaching on jesus christ: "...his position is contrasted with that of men and angels, as he is lord of both, having all power in heaven and earth.

Sounds like a pretty good case of depression to me. You might want to try a small dose of Effexor, gradually increasing it until you arrive at about 300 mg per day.

I use it for the depression associated with daily narcotic pain maintenance, and it's worked for me.

One caveat: you will gain about 1 to 2 pounds a month no matter what you do while you're on it.

i want to give my house a name.

lot's of my neighbours have already done this, so we have a plethora of name boards springing up in my road.

(actually, i susupect it's a sort of snobbery so that people will know that it's not just another old house full of flats and bedsits but a privately owned whole house).
