I beg to enter one correction, in the form of an addition, to the entry Single Breath Sentence. Now, while it is true that Ms. Mavis Sommers was speaking at the unbelieveable rate of 680 words per minute, which simply staggers the imagination - I would like to add for the record that, after careful scrutiny, it was determined that she accomplished several gusts of up to 750 words per minute. These were not, of course, sustainable, but are the most impressive gusts ever recorded in the United Kingdom, or anywhere else in the solar system for that matter.

by ignored_one incar parking: the smallest kerbside space successfully reversed into by a woman, was one of 19.36 metres, equivalent to three standard parking spaces, by mrs e. simpkins (g.b.
) driving an unmodified vauxhall nova swing on 12th october 1993. she started the manoeuvre at 11:15 a.m. in ropergate, pontefract and successfully parked within three feet of the pavement 8 hours 14 minutes later.
there was slight damage to the bumpers and wings of her own and the two adjoining cars, as well as shop frontage and two lamp posts.

It is pointless to argue their "theology" with them. They have it memorized just like you memorized the "times table" in the third grade. Doesn't make it true, just makes it memorized.
Best you just do the fade, you're depressed, you're on medication that makes you sleepy and too dangerous to drive especially at night. Don't play their silly game with them or follow their laws, their way of doing things. Do it your way and make them play by your rules. But overall best not to do anything to attract attention to yourself. Keep the fade going. All the better if you're planning on moving even if it's just across town.
Don't file a change of address with the post office. There are ways to get ahold of that information.
Move. Leave no forwarding address. When the come to do a shepherding call, you will be gone. Put your phone in someone else's name. All this is necessary only if there is family you don't want to loose. Then you've got the problem of the family ratting you out.
It ain't good anyway you look at it.

How come Satan gets to survive Armageddon ? and we don't ? Are we that bad
by run dont walk indoes this make all of us worse that satan ??????.
when replying to a thread started by black man i said something like ........ " after armageddon is over we will all be dead, but satan will still be kicking, and then let loose again after christ's 1000 year reign, so satan already has his get out of armageddon card, he's already thru.
" sounds fair, don't you think ?????????

Doesn't it strike you that this entire God vs Satan thing is overblown by about fifteen orders of magnitude? It seems to me that God, being God, could have resolved this entire thing in about .2 milliseconds and we could all have gotten on with our business without all the bullshit that's been separating us from god, from each other, and us from ourselves for the last ten thousand years at least.
I just don't get the need for this movie to be this god-damn long, you know what I mean? And no intermissions either. I don't know about you guys, but I need a bleedin' rest from all this cosmic shit.

"Do JW's and Born-Again Christians have something in common?
by jads inthis might be funny to some people but i really feel that the reason that jw's and born again christians hate each other so much is because they are so much alike.
they see themselves in each other.
i have been on both sides of the spectum and believe me all of the born-agains that post on this site are more like jw's then they want to admit to themselves.

Pretty good, archangel01, you say you're not so judgemental, but fully 80% of your post is negative judgementalism. I see hypocrisy runs at full tilt in the fundys just like it does with JWs, who are fundys, too.

Witnesses NOT a Cult.
by integ init has been mentioned on this board many times that the jehovahs' witnesses are a cult.. this connotation may not ring true with witnesses.
i have mentioned to certain ones that.
the witnesses fit the "definition" of a cult.

I promised a few things in support of the fact that the JWs are indeed a cult and here are a few of almost an endless list of their compliance with various definitions:
http://www.gospelcom.net/apologeticsindex/c09a01.html
7 ELEMENTS OF A CULTIC GROUP
1) A centralized form of leadership that rules with unquestioned authority
2) A body of convictions, beliefs, and practices set forth boldly as "the truth"
3) A compelling presentation of the group vision to prospects that is inviting and challenging
4) A series of manipulative socializing sessions to instill psychological dependence on the group
5) A definable process of group dynamics used to unethically control and manipulate members
6) A history of abuses of authority by group leaders freely using deception and fear tactics
7) A history of psychological and spiritual abuses of group members that destroy lives
Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following 5 characteristics:
1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds
recruit people
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society

This one immediately above is very good.

Another really good one.

http://members.aol.com/beyondjw/dwjw.htm?FACTNet
The above provides a very realistic example of what it’s really like to talk with a witness about their religion. In all, there are about 25 or 30 defining characteristics of a cult, and Jehovah's Witnesses display each and every one of these characteristics. As noted some people think there are five of these definitions that are essential, some think there are seven. Those kind of arguments contemplate the number of angels who can dance upon the head of a pin.
Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult BY DEFINITION regardless of their pitiful efforts to squeeze and/or wiggle out of the mold. I say JWs are a cult, and I say fuckem.

Did Any Of You Ever Believe In The Explanations Of JW Prophecy?
by minimus inas a born and raised jw, i was taught that not only did we have the truth but we also had the keys to understanding of bible prophecy.
i was able to explain the gentile times timetable, the reason for 1914,etc.
but there came a time when i really came to appreciate that i had no real foundation for these "truths".

Believe in them? Are you nuts? Most of the elders I knew couldn't explain them without extensive notes and a blackboard the size of Rhode Island. Going to the KH on Friday nights while I was little was only a convenient way to get a ride to my grandfather's farm 35 miles west of town, and that was it. I was only playing a game. The game continued until I couldn't in good conscience fake it any more. Then I quit.

well this really sucks
by SpiceItUp inyou ever have one of those things that happen to you that just leaves you speechless.
well the other day one of my best friends (someone i have known for years) told me that they might have cancer.
they have a tumor in their leg that just changed size as well as a small lump in their arm.
-
Francois
What kind of cancer does your friend have?
The only advice I can give is for you to stick tight to your friend, like glue, until they shoot through to the other side where they will be waiting for you. If you don't, you may feel guilty for the rest of your life. So hang in with your friend, he doesn't have a choice, you do.
I know the feeling. I had malignant melanoma five and a half years ago. I've been NED ever since. But I know who my real friends are now.

I wouldn't go. Tell them if they want to talk to you they can come to your house. When they show up, don't invite them in. Have your little conversation on the front steps. You be in control, not them. It's your choice.

Yes. I've got a LOT of thoughts, but I've gotta go for right now. I have just enough time to say that the JW who came up with those remarks is as lame as any other JW I've ever spoken with. In fact, a stroll through the sea of that JWs intellect wouldn't get the soles of my feet damp.
Soon's I can get back to it, I will jump in the middle of this inanity.
(Someone else will probably have beat me to it already, however)
