Did You Feel Obliged To Do Business With The "Brothers"or Did You Not Care?

jw's are always in some business venture of one sort or another.

i knew of some in the congregation that didn't do business with brothers and sisters because they'd gotten burnt too many times.

i knew of others that felt obliged to buy something from fellow witnesses, especially elders.

I have said elsewhere that most JCs are composed of men who come to adjust your thinking who couldn't adjust the pilot light on your water heater. I feel about the same concerning their competence in all other areas of persuit. They don't have any.

After all, they were "encouraged" not to go to school, not to learn a trade, then WE were encouraged to use them for various skilled activities around our homes. No way Jose'. I want someone who knows what the hell he's doing, putting his hands on my moving parts and such. I felt no such obligation. I'd seen too many examples of some semi-educated brother or other screw up something beyond recognition.

Nope, none for me thanks. The JWs created an entire generation dumkoffs, let 'em work on the GB's shit, they're not working on mine.

I'm frankly disappointed, RF, I was certain that you were going to bring up Ramtha there for a minute. She/He/It takes MasterCard/Visa/AMEX now for love offerings. That is, J.Z. Knight does, but apparently that's OK with Ramtha who doesn't have much truck with money in the first place.

With this kind of cult, all you have to do is claim that executive control of your body is taken over by an "entity" of several tens of thousands of years of age and then to prove it, speak in a really squeaky, tortured voice and call this entity by some goofy name like Ramtha who came here on some mother ship and you're IN big time with the biddy brain set.

I've not read the above posts, but elsewhere I've read that the damage done by the subject worm or virus could have been orders of magnitude more economically damaging than it was.

The payload of this particular one was a message to Bill Gates, which read," billy gates, stop making money and fix stuff like this." And as much as I despise hackers and such, they do have a point. Bill Gates and Microsoft should properly debug their flagship software before releasing it to the public as a worm-hole ridden piece of security-flawed trash costing several hundred dollars a pop.

If Gate's software was written and debugged properly, we wouldn't see stuff like this, and we wouldn't be connected to Microsoft through the Internet like some high-speed umbilical cord so that "mommy" could fix security and other problems as they are discovered by others.

What we are seeing is Microsoft attempting to keep the expectations of Wall Street satisfied. And the cost of that is constant security liabilities, as we have seen.

We should give people who write these kinds of worms and viruses awards for showing the weaknesses in Bill Gates so-called software. They really could bring the Net to its knees if they wanted to. Instead they embarass the hell out of Mr. Gates and his sloppy as hell software.

i was watching one of my favorite movies the other day -- "all the president's men" -- when this fabulous statement was made : "when you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow.

how true.

makes me think of the drones in the land of dub.

Yes, they rule by fear. But I say as I have said all along: you can't be walked on unless you lie down first. And all who remain in the JWs who do so out of fear are lying down. They fear these little men who couldn't get a real job in the real world for shit. These guys who come to "adjust your thinking" couldn't adjust the pilot light on your water heater. And people fear them? I say pick your fight and pick you opponent, but for god's sake, don't humiliate yourself by fearing a fight with Caspar Milquetoast, and that's what 99% of these elders are.

Get up off the damn floor and act like men, and tell the elder to piss up a rope.

Troublesome Trinity Verses Part 1

in this series i hope to discuss some common verses used by the watchtower to "disprove" the trinity and deity of the lord jesus christ.

the first one is 1 corinthians 8:6: .

"but to us there is but one god, the father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one lord jesus christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

I think we have here a lots of blind people describing an elephant. Who among you has seen Jesus much less the existential God? Not one. How do you know that when The Son is mentioned, the scripture means Jesus and not an existential Son, the second person of Diety? And when the Holy Spirit is mentioned, what is meant is the Infinite Spirit, the existential Third Person of Deity? You don't, and I can't prove that these statments DO mean any such thing. But if my position that Jesus of Nazareth, The Carpenter, Master of this local universe is NOT the second person on the trinity, ALL OF YOUR BELIEF SYSTEMS ARE KNOCKED INTO A COCKED HAT...and you must start over.

It would be far, far, better for you to frame your beliefs about Jesus as speculation as opposed to elevating your poor guesswork to the level of divine truth. Wouldn't you think so too?

What scriptures do JW's quote that annoy you?

the one that bugs the hell out of me that my mom would always quote is "out of the mouths of babes" .

I'm afraid that Farkel beat me to the meat of the issue in that there is no scripture that the WTBTS uses honestly and in context. All the scriptures they use are in some way twisted to support the purpose which they have in mind for it to support.

In fact, and as you are aware, JWs are regarded by many as bible geniuses for their knee-jerk ability to cough up scripture upon scripture. Upon closer examination, JWs can and do cough up a few textually-based scriptures they used to "prove" points in their so-called "theology" beyond that, they know nothing of the rest of the bible. I'd say they know about 2 to 5% of the scriptures.

The same is true of them, but worse, when they quote non-biblical sources to "prove" their points. They are most famous for using the ellipsis (...) indicating that some material is omitted. Yeah. Omitted. In one case several PAGES of the original source were omitted with that convenient ellipsis. How droll.

I think my original mistrust of the JWs use of scripture was in connection with the evolution argument when they quoted a scripture about God being one of peace, not confusion. When I looked it up, it was making reference to maintaining order and quiet at a meeting of early christians. It had nothing whatever to do with evolution.

Face it. The WTBTS governing body, writing department, and each and everyone else right down to the smallest three-year old publisher is a liar for Jesus. And will ever be just that and nothing more unless they get the hell away from that lying pack of jackals known as Jehovah's Witnesses.

Guess what I just did

well, i told my parent that i didn't want to be a jw (having not gone to meetings for many years) and it went pretty well.

i even disproved watchtower doctrines, but of course i was the one who was mistaken.. i aslo said that i would be going to other churches... i didn't specify because i didn't want to see the reaction to catholic.

i also signed up to start the process to become catholic (unlike the jw's you can just learn about the faith without any obligation or harrassment) i went down to st. francis de sales church and i signed up for the rcia program.

You've already gotten the best advice: don't write any letters to any JWs for any reason. Once you do, you've acknowledged that they have or had authority over you. Don't play by their rules. Do the thing that makes them the maddest: be silent.
