  Yes sir, you've got it defined aright. That's what Jehovah's Witnesses are all about: legalisms, hair-splitting organizational nit-picking, applying a standard of "justice" totally bereft of anything resembling the tempering quality of mercy, the accepting quality of love.

  This is a description of a religion operated like what it has become, a bureaucracy - complete with bureaucrats for elders, and rigid, inflexible "organizational" rules instead of the fluid give and take of human children of god attempting to pursue his will as best as they can understand it.

  It's really disheartening, isn't it?

  Oh, and by the way, which flavor of "christian" are you? There are several hundred different flavors you know, and it will be helpful if you'd tell us which you are.

  There are a lot of dedicated christians on this site as well. Now it's true that most of us have given up on one particular flavor of christianity that we've discovered isn't quite what it claimed to be, nor is it what we thought it was at one time. But that doesn't make us any less christian, um, unless of course you think there's only one flavor allowed. Then there could be a problem.

  Perhaps, as a christian, you'd be interested in reviewing Mt. 7:1. It's hard to keep it in mind, I know. We struggle with it here. But then we attempt to avoid public moral preening, you know, as christians - pride going before a fall and all.

  Anyway, I'll be anxiously awaiting for you to post again when you come back to tell us this truth you mentioned. It's been, you know, promised to each of us an awful lot and no one has, you know, delivered up to this point. But you, being a christian and all, well I'm sure we can all expect you to come across, um, I mean, do what you say and let us have the straight dope.

  Don't wait too long now, y'hear? We'll all be waiting for you, I mean at least I know I will.

  do you have a circle life after being a jw?.

  i been wondering about the fact so it seems - that so many after breaking and leaving - a sometime long relationship with the borg - seams to go back to old king of thinking.

  sometimes just with others words.. as jw we look/looked at the world with eyes teach by the borg.

  There does seem to be a danger for ex-JWs to hop from one abusive cult to another. Sort of like women who seem to bounce from one abusive husband to another.

  Since you're aware of what's goin' on in your mind, perhaps you'll be able to avoid this circular pattern of self-abuse.

  seems like everybody i talk to leaves after 30 years.

  I wrote a newspaper article about ten years ago about a guy who heard the witness who was studying with his wife tell her, "you've got to get rid of your husband." She did. He sued. He won.

  a request for some advice pls.. firstly, a bit of background.. my mother raised my younger brother and i in the truth.

  she did so alone until she remarried in the early 80s.

  my stepfather was a dyed in the wool dub who never varied from the party line.

  I am in favor of you doing what will be the best for you.

  I don't give a rat's ass about what the society's policy or rules, if any, have to do with this situation.

  Not interested in what anyone's "moral or ethical" objections might be.

  Don't care if nothing upbuilding is accomplished for him.

  Having been raised in a totally dysfunctional family that 'til this very day is sick, sick, sick, I'm in favor of you doing exactly whatever it is that will address your own private, personal emotional needs in this situation.

  I finally had the confrontation that I so desperately needed with my abuser when I reached 43 years of age. And what a confrontation it was. Face-to-face demonstrated to him that he was a coward. Then followed it up with a 17-page, legal size, single-spaced typed letter detailing his treatment of his family, of its most helpless and defenseless members, how he hurt me then, how it felt then, how it had affected my life then, and how it affected my life as an adult up to that point, and on and on and on. Then refused to speak to him for ten years.

  It was the best thing I ever did for my own psychological well-being. The release was terrific. Can't describe what it was like. But it was positive. Very positive. And I couldn't care less what anyone thinks about it. They weren't there. They don't know. I do.

  If you want to get together with him one-on-one, go for it. Both you and your brother at the same time might deterioriate into three people talking, or yelling, at the same time. But if that's the format you like best, do it.

  If you want to expose his hypocrisy, I'm with you. You know, the only thing that Jesus got angry about was the hypocrisy of the money-changers in the temple. If hypocrisy makes Jesus loose his cool, it's OK for you too. Do it. I would. And I hope you will report what you do here, so I can applaud you for it.

  i requested that my sons (both jws) come to my home for a family meeting today.

  had nothing to do with religion.

  both of them know i don't go to meetings and that i have intellectual disagreement with wtbs.. son #2 said that before we begin the meeting, he would like to offer up prayer.

  A Quickie!

  just to say hello to all who vsit this forum.. i would love to tell my life story sometime but there is so much to say that i dont know where to begin,but a few things about myself.. i left the borg mindset in 1995 as i would not surrender to the emotional blackmail shunning teqniques,and was told i had basically dissasociated myself,even though my last words were 'i wanted to follow god and christ not a religion' an announcement was made that i had dissassociated myself from the christian congregation,cheek,eh!.

  i was born into a jw family in 1962,and most of my immediate family see me as a filthy apostate because they are indoctrinated, my hobbies are horses,ham radio and the net,.

  when i have a chance i hope to post more,cheers for now

  You're welcome. Hope to hear more from you soon. There's lots of wounded souls here, and a few active (but deviant) Jay-Dubs here too that delight in calling names and throwing stones. It's sort of like having a crazy aunt in the basement. They're tolerated but not taken seriously. If we were going to take what they said seriously, we'd still be in the Borg, wouldn't we? This little detail seems to escape their rather, um, challenged intellectual capacity, so we humor them. Sort of like the Viet Cong who would hide out near the airstrip and shot to miss the planes coming and going and to whom food packages were from time to time dropped by us to him. Think mascot.

  Anyway, glad to have you and hope you'll tell us all about yourself.

  Yes sir, nice culture. And y'know what? All that is another culture based on a "loving" and "wise" and especially "all merciful" God. This one's name of course is Allah. But really - Allah, Chemosh, Baal, Jehovah, Kali - what's the big difference? If I remember, among the Hebrews, if you sassed your parents, you were to be taken outside the gates of your town by the elders and stoned to death. Gotta see that blud!

  And who among you doubts that if they could get away with it the WTBTS would re-institute stoning for infractions of their silly biblical interpretations? Not me!!

  And there was a story yesterday about a superstitious religious group (is that redundant?) in S.E. Asia who sacrificed an American woman in a particularly gruesome manner because by the nature and usefulness of such a sacrifice, the sacrificers were going to be able to determine the winning LOTTERY number!

  Man, that blud can do some really powerful things, can't it?

  hi everyone, i was just wondering exactly what it is jehovah is supposed to have done that is 'loving'??.

  howcome it is the 'preachers' that fear feeling bloodguilt when it is much easier for jehovah to do what they would do??.

  the only thing that jehovah supposedly does to help, is reaveal stuff to the 'annointed ones', and let's face it, he doesn't do a good job of that, need i explain?!?!!.

  Yep. You've got 'im nailed. That OT God guy? Bloodthirsty. Evil. Wicked, Mean, Bad, & Nasty. A stern judge-accountant chiefly interested in recording the mis-deeds of his erring, but ignorant, children on this planet so that he could see that he GOT 'EM later, and got 'em good. And he was into foreskins, too. Big into foreskins. I guess he figgured he could make a wallet out of 'em. And then later, if he was going on a trip, he could rub that wallet a little bit and the wallet would turn into a three-suiter in about thirty seconds.

  Not only foreskins, but the body parts of animals. Yep, and the fat parts, too. Said he found the smell of burning animal body parts (plus the fat, can't forget the fat) a "restful" oder. Now I don't know about you, but the smell of burning animal body parts is enough to back a buzzard off a puke wagon. Restful? Come on.

  And the blood. Well. THAT he wanted "spattered" on the alter. Can you just imagine what that alter looked like in, say six or eight months, much less years? And the smell? My God (pardon)!!

  Then, with all this regard for blood, he makes the females of his children expel the unused pre-placental tissues every 28 days, and then he blames THEM for it. Makes 'em unclean for that piss-poor design. Why can't humans just lay a nice, clean egg and have done with it? Christ a'mighty (pardon) FROGS can fuckin' do it, chickens, even snakes ferchrissake (pardon)!! And our females have to carry around this little human with that giant brain in that giant head and put it through that tiny little. Well. You know. That's loving?

  AND, if all this wasn't enough, he is so cold that the suffering of his children that HE designed and put here will not move him to show his infinite mercy until he sees his BLAMELESS, PERFECT son suffering and dying on the cross of calvary because without the shedding of BLUD no forgiveness takes place. And that means YOU, Jack.

  He is so bound, so limited in his nature, that the love and mercy of his nature is conflicted by the justice of his nature and so there's NO WAY OUT for God except for him to kill off his only-begottn son so he can see BLUD! Gotta have that blud, man, or no forgiveness. None. Nada. Not even foreskins is gonna do here. Gotta have that blud. Soul's in it, y'know. There is an utter lack of unity in the nature of deity, so that the love of god is limited by the justice of god. And he's HELPLESS to do anything about it. He has a built-in incompatibility with himself. Some God.

  If we don't do something about how we conceive of the nature and character of God, we're never going to get anywhere on this backward planet.
