I find it weird that we're going to need, according to them, the continuing presence of the FDS for governing the perfected inhabitant of earth. I don't think the Borg has carefully thought through the implications of perfect beings living on this tiny dust most throughout eternity - marooned here by a "loving" God.
A loving God would make immortal beings capable, through some agency, of traveling throught time and space to visit other of his created beings and things, dontcha think?

I'd be willing to bet that you've not read nearly enough of the history of the Saddam H. government in Iraq.
We have been the world's policeman for decades, regardless of where people like it, support it, think it's wrong, deny it, hide from it, or otherwise display dysfunctional behavior toward this established fact. In that case, do we not have some sort of responsibility of bringing to an end the savaging of the Iraqi people by their own government? If we are the world's police, then you bet your ass we have that responsibility - like it or lump it.
Some of earth's criminal governments lend themselves to direct attack, some other of them to more subtle means of change. But whatever is necessary is what we have been doing.
And it drives me wild when people know just enough scattered facts to make one good argument about why we shouldn't do what we're doing, but don't know bupkiss (goat shit) about the big picture. So they present their precious little arguments (where's the WMD? You're just in it for the oil [which belongs to France, how odd]) and then when their little arguments are blasted out of the field are at a loss to argue any other point, so they repeat their little mantra about the only little thing they can conceive about the issues. Since this is the best they seem to be able to do, I'm in favor of ignoring the ignoramusses and do what we conceive is necessary to balance the scales, to seek justice for the greatest number, to allow the least number of people to be killed.
When you are able to put up adult arguments, and to argue the entire issue, not just your pet objection, perhaps we will listen with more respect.

this one may not qualify as a "fully-twisted" scripture, in the sense that so many others are more twisted and more misused, and more transliterated.
but, i did run across a scripture that is incorrectly translated in the new world translation i felt it needs to be brought to light.

I think you may agree that the subject scripture is a relatively mild mistranslation, likely absent any doctrinal implications or fooling around.
HOWEVER. There is another scripture that has been deliberately and maliciously and consciously and for doctrinal reasons FOOLED AROUND WITH. And that scripture is Luke 17:21 "...Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
Now, the WTBTS, in its humorous translation, The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, renders this scripture as, neither shall they say, look for it here, or look for it there, for behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst. (No quotes here since I don't have an NWT and recall it from memory. The essential point is made via the words "...is in your midst."
I charge that the subject scripture has been deliberately mistranslated by the WTBTS. For if it gets about that the actual spirit of God is indeed within each of us, what need then is there for their corrupt little religious cult?
And what purpose serves the so-called "faithful and discreet slave"?
And why would any human being need any organization to lead it to The Master through whom all shall approach the living God?
The word translated "in your midst" does not have the meaning that, for example, the 8-ball sits on the table in the midst of the other balls. Rather the word means inside you. In fact, the WTBTSs own publication, The Interlinear Translation, et al, says the Kingdom of God inside of you is. Yet they make it to mean in your midst, referring to The Master standing in the midst of the Pharisees. Close but no cigar.
Each and every person ever born on this planet, and those yet to be born, has or will have this same uniform spirit guide within their own heart/mind. And it remains only for us to make contact with this indwelling Spirit and to listen to its small, quiet voice for our sure direction.
Organized religions constitute the human need to socialize the spirit urge arising from within us as individuals. The valiant in Spirit, glory in seeking this Divine Guide alone.
Is it clear how the WTBTS has mistranslated this scripture, and also WHY they did it? And now it makes sense the scripture in Romans which says, "for as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the children of God?"

HOLD IT just a chicken-pluckin' minit. Comes now francois and states for his case and cause that he will never, NEVER yield to anyone regarding the question of beer consumption, and of making certain that all within shouting distance also got their fill of this true nectar of the Gods. nearly everyone that posts here says mostly negative things about the witnesses.
a few will speak of certain jw's that were helpful to them while they were going through difficulties.
in the situation that you find yourself in now, do you feel that you hate jw's?
Jehovah's Witnesses, as an organization, I believe with all my heart are a dangerous, divisive religious cult. It poses a real, clear and present danger to an individual's soverignty of personality, to their mental and emotional health, and to their basic human rights and dignity.
JWs as an organization poses a like danger for families, including extended families. It threatens family unity, stability, and longevity. It is undeniable that this organization is the root cause of thousands of cases of marital discord and dissolution, causing no end of misery, lonliness, and dissappointment for the children and adults both of these dissolved marriages.
This organization is responsible directly or indirectly for the fact that, upon formal, scholarly evalutation, its membership discloses dysfunctional behavior statistically significantly higher than the general population. There are excessive cases of alcoholism, child sex, emotional, and physical abuse, spousal abuse of every kind, petty criminality, felonious criminality, drug abuse, dysfunctional mental and emotional makeup, and suicides. It perpetuates a Bronze Age regard by men of women, up to an including a man's wife - which the organization insists be regarded as little more that chattel. (Abraham was Sara's "husbandly owner")
Unfortunately, I am personally unable to indict the organization and let the individual Jehovah's Witness escape their responsibility for the above outlined sad scenario.
Individual Jehovah's Witnesses are the agents of the organization, recruiting agents. And whether these agents act to bring neophytes into the organization via the preaching work, or if they merely force their children's allegiance, it is by and through the efforts of the individual JW that new recruits are brought into the organization.
And when a new recruit is brought to the places of meeting, individual JWs band together in many, many deliberate and orchestrated sessions of pre- and post-meeting "love bombing" sessions - an undeniable common cult characteristic.
Organizations are made up of many individuals acting in concert. Take away the individuals and there is no organization. This is no less true of Jehovah's Witnesses than it is a colony of termites. Individual JWs acting on what they have been force-fed by the JW hierarchy via endless meetings and speeches and magazines and books, compose the organization, along with all other members no matter where in the hierarchy.
Individuals are the trained agents of the organization and bear the same responsibility for its social, ethical, legal, and moral foulness. Individuals are each one responsible for the unforgiveable withholding of social intercourse, welcome, and Love for those unfortunate enough to have run afoul of some JW legalistic minutia and who are disfellowshipped and subsequently shunned by one and all.
It's my personal opinion that the entire organization of Jehovah's Witnesses from bottom to top constitutes a societal freak, a socially criminal enterprise, a rotten apple in the barrel of each and every community - a stench upon the land where ever they practice their foul cult.

here's a real good news story, at least i think so.. i was one of the instructors of the confirmation class at my catholic church.
since the bishop was coming the knights of columbus (a catholic mens organization) was performing duties as honor guard.
when the knights are the honor guard they wear tuxedos, a large hat with ostrich plumes, a cape, white gloves, and a sword.
I say that chicks like men in any uniform, no matter what it is. Even doormen.
Frankly, without prejudice to any other of the armed forces, I think the Marine Formal Dress Mess uniform (did I say that right?) is tops for the services of the US. (In fact, I think I'll wander off and see if I can find a picture of it.)

very skinny, long, scraggly hair (see pics below) and an overall *greasy* appearance, wearing too tight jeans.
he was at the doc with his very overweight wife and mother, whose hair style he copies.

If I had enough hair to let it grow long, I would have it styled somehow or other. Guys just amaze me with what they do with their hair. I think the very worst of the herd are those guys who have only a fringe of hair left that goes from ear to ear - and they let that grow long, down their backs in some cases. If that's not the livin' end of a bad idea I don't know what is.
QUESTION/POLL. I say that I would take back every hair that's ever fallen out of my head even if every one of them was put back silver. I'd much rather have a head full of nice silver hair than be going bald.
HOW DOES EVERYONE FEEL ABOUT THIS?
(I will never, ever, in a million years have a comb-over. I'd rather look like a que ball than have a comb-over. I'm serious.)
