I'm not letting the "friends" get to me anymore, and i'm not jumping through their hoops either. If they somehow found out I was at the movies or something else other than at the kingdom hall when it is the time of a meeting, I couldn't care less! If they come by my house to visit me and I don't want to see them..i'll open the door and kindly tell them I don't want company. If they offer me spiritual "help", I'll tell them I don't need it.
Life is too short for me to be shackeled by them.

Taking control of my life....this is what i'm gonna do.
by R.F. inas many of you may know, i'm currently an ms and pioneer, and been missing meetings consistently for almost 2 months.
i have been concerned about my dad's reaction to me wanting to leave the org and he's been questioning me about missing meetings.
well i've decided now not to jump through the elders' hoops anymore.

On several occasions, it could not be helped but to notice that individuals who
were having these discussions were often heckled, insulted or criticized by those
who were somehow “put off” or offended by the discussion. Why?
If an individual is confident and convinced that, his is the “right path”, then why do
they feel a need to belittle others who are engaged in a harmless discussion? As my mother used to say
If it doesn't kill you it can only make you stronger

Hey ltcmd.lore
I was really impressed with how you handled the discussion with your parents.
What comes across very strongly is that you are using logic and that's like a foreign language to them.
A suggestion is to try to encourage them to think logically by discussing other issues as well that aren't related to the truth.
An extra benefit is that they may then hold off considering shunning you because they reason that you are going through a questioning phase wherein you are questioning other issues as well, and at the same time you are encouraging logical thinking.
A long process but imo these are skills for life.
good luck

Was Jesus a Buddist?
by Illyrian ini started investigating this issue a few months back after seeing a documentary that intrigued me.
some of you may disagree with my findings and that is ok, but hopefully we can have a constructive discussion and hear both sides of the arguments.
i personally was deeply impressed, to say the least, by the apparent cogency and deep correlations of evidentiary materials that survived to this day, which supports this thesis.. there is so much more that can be or should be said here but i will try to keep this text as short as possible so as to keep people interested enough to read it.. buddhism appeared some 500 years before jesus arrival.

Here's an interesting point from narkissos' link
Several philosophers, such as Pyrrho, Anaxarchus and Onesicritus, are said to have been selected by Alexander to accompany him in his eastern campaigns. During the 18 months they were in India, they were able to interact with Indian religious men, generally described as Gymnosophists ("naked philosophers"). Pyrrho (360-270 BCE), returned to Greece and became the first Skeptic and the founder of the school named Pyrrhonism. The Greek biographer Diogenes Laertius explained that Pyrrho's equanimity and detachment from the world were acquired in India. [
Another point made was that a geographcal passageway was established by Alexander the Great's conquests linking the Himalayan area with central Asia which resulted in trade and religious exchange.

Isn't Jehovah a wonderful God?
by nvrgnbk inwhen i look around at all the people in the world, i'm comforted to know that jehovah will soon destroy them.. i'm talking about people that don't attend our encouraging christian meetings.
