Worship trees if you like. I won't stop you. Elevate nature to a level which requires worship. I shall not interfere. Invoke mystical charms and cook up a batch of yak gonads and newt's eye if it eases your pain. But, don't expect me to nod in respectful silence about it.

You are figuratively holding obsolete aspects of paganism up to the light. Thats not fair imo. Fairer to compare obsolete aspects of science with obsolete aspects of religion, the benefits of religion with the benefits of science. (I say science cos I know you believe in it.)

in letter is information that the time for the public talk will be reduced to 30 minutes.. does anyone have a copy?

I'm told the reason for the change is to allow more time between meetings where lots of congregations use one kingdom hall.

No letters have gone out yet but bethelites are spilling the beans

But, but not everyone who harbours hate goes out and kills someone

We get: "I heard voices".
"God told me to do it."
"They were infidels and deserved death."

Again a small minority

In point of fact I'm still puzzled why God had to appease God with any process of Atonement.
When we are "saved" we are saved from GOD! (God's wrath comes from God, after all.)
Jesus died to appease his own Father!

Why do people paint a beautiful picture, or write a beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking song .....

why are we moved by those things?

If the old God-Man Passion show has worn out, there must always be something else going on another stage of the "theatre of cruelty".

maybe I'm way off beam here - but it seems to me that today we have weapons of mass destruction that can incinerate not just humans but also the world we live in. The other stage of cruelty - I prefer the former -

first off i'd like to say that the title of this thread is not tongue-in-cheek.

i remember a thread from ak-jeff a couple months ago where he observed how some posters develop a condescending attitude towards christians and how that made him feel like he didn't really fit in here.

i'm sure that may have come across (unintentionally) in some of my recent threads where i've related my arrival at agnosticism/atheism.

It kind of gives me a lost feeling with the thinking of, if I dont have the witnesses, what else is there.

I think for many witnesses its the lost feeling you mention above that scares them and prevents them from allowing themselves to do as you are doing below

I beleive though once I confirm things for myself, the decision will be made for me.

Do Witnesses have a Stronger Brotherhood than Christendom Does?

this came up in discussion between me and a fellow ex-dub buddy of mine.. as jw's, we had a brotherly unity.....at least many of us did.

if we were going somewhere and needed a witness to watch our place....even stay at our place, we had no reserves about being ripped off by them.

they were closer than some families members oftentimes and we even preferred being around them as opposed to "wordly" family members.

Yes, I'd say witnesses do have a stronger brotherhood but it is based on their solidarity with the wbts. And as a witness one knew that one puts the wbts first above family and friends.

A Farewell to 'Lost Souls'

after very little discussion and even contact with my parents in the last few months, they seemed to decide, either for themselves, or maybe they were put up to it, to confront me on my view of the watchtower society and condemn me, my husband and children to death.....any time soon.....when armageddon comes.

i'm afraid they continually called me an apostate and told me how apostates are , 'evil, horrible, bad and satanic people!

' i asked them if they knew what an 'apostate' was and why they didn't look the word up in the dictionary.

As they pleaded for me to 'go back' to KH I told them squarely that I NEVER will and that I would rather die than ever be a JW again! I think they got the message!

I'm imagining your parents listening to you with both dread and intrigue and enjoying the stimulation of the discussions you guys have.

I think that in an unacknowledged corner of their hearts they are proud of you and congratulating themselves that you are their daughter. I certainly would if you were mine.

I think they'll be back - so be prepared
