are ufos fact or fiction?

recalling my days as a jehovahs witness i recall the watchtower society or jehovahs .

witnesses explaining away the phenomena of unidentified flying objects as something .

I've had a couple of strange sightings myself, but what they were I would not be quick to speculate. I've seen some very "credible" people exaggerating the story because of their personal beliefs in the UFO's like Nick Pope. I think eagerness to believe in something, anything make otherwise rational people do irrational things and then they try to rationalize it to make sense of it for both us and them. I don't know just my view I guess.

But as Ellie Arroway puts it The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space.

Though if it took us millions of years to evolve to this stage, why do we even think it took any less other potential living beings out there? They may be at about the same technological level as we are or even slightly less.

I mean 14 billion years which is the age of the universe leaves only so much room for anything to happen, right? Not to mention that we live in a very old galaxy of 13.6 ± 0.8 billion years i.e. ours was here right from the beginning, and it took us on this planet all this time to develop into something. And yes I took into consideration that different parts of galaxy would cool at different rate so life would appear at different stages. It is just hat we are at the very brim of Milky Way so we had longest time too cool. It seems to me we has some of the most favorable conditions of all and yet here we are at this level of development.

So for a civilization to be a 1000 or even a million years ahead of us technologically something pretty extraordinary had to happen. Prove me wrong.

MOUTHY'S DAUGHTER.....

i just received a call from mouthy regarding her daughter's biopsy (for those of you who didn't know, she had a lump in her breast that they took out).

it is benign, not malignant!!

she's so busy with getting ready to move and company that she just didn't have time to post, but she really wanted to thank everyone for their help.

That is a great news. My x-girlfriend had one. It was a traumatic experience in every respect. Probably the waiting part was the worst when we didn't know what was going to happen.

Sitting here alone

as i've mentioned, i've stopped going to meetings three months ago, this morning i took my kids to breakfeast and they asked if i was going to meeting.

i told them no becasue i had something to to.

my youngest wanted to know why i have not shaven, really did not respond.

you need to give them time. I think your kids just respond to the way you taught them up until recently and now of course can't understand. If I were you I'd take them to someplace special, like Disneyland or something.

Yellowstone National Park

just got back last night from a week long road trip to yellowstone.

we took our motor home and drove to the park and stayed at yellowstone lake.

it was a lot of fun, and the place is beautiful.

Thank you for sharing this I am thinking of going to Yellowstone later this year. Have never been there but have read every book and watched every show that talked about it.

Just finished listening to the talk. So these are my notes:

Basic education can help us to acquire ability to think logically - henceforth, higher education would do even more so.

Basic education helps us to speak clearly - So why then do you then have Theocratic Ministry school??

Higher education helps advancing of present system of things - Next time I hear one JW speaking of how they are productive members of community I will spit in their face. No other religious organization demands the full use of everything this world has to offer from medicine to law like J Witnesses do.

Sister Tracy Fuentes couldn't find work after 4 years of studying Kinesiology (the scientific study of human movement [ref] - That just means she made a very stupid decision in choosing her degree.
Why would anyone in their right mind choose to study Kinesiology and think they can get away without at least medical school after that??!!?? Had she studied engineering of any sort by now she could have been a millionaire or at least have a very good salary.

Choosing a degree isn't any different to making any other business decision. IF you make a stupid decision of course you will suffer. That of course does not automatically mean that every other businessman/woman makes the same type of moronic decisions and that business is B.A.D Nor can it serve as a basis for advising other people against going into business. So this example is absolute disservice to watchtower society and anyone with half a brain will see through it.

clearly, electrons and protons have a certain mass, light has a particular speed and so on - why should any of.

Anthropic Principle is indeed a stumbling block. Everything seems to be so precisely tuned for us to be able to live here. Of course we could look it the other way. If universe wasn't like that we wouldn't be around to ask such questions. Could there be other universes,possibly trillions of them with not so favorable conditions and there is no one around to ask question why? It is as if a jackpot lottery winner start thanking god for choosing him/her as a winner because he/her can't see any other explanation. Could it all be just a cosmic lottery?

I think a very good test of efficiency of Watchtower education would be how many attendees can recite what they have listened to after three days of undivided attention.

Watchtower society is the master of dodging the facts and presenting only the side that fits them. It is true that not everyone with degree can easily find the job in their profession, which would mean one should have more than that INCLUDING degree plus preferably some experience, certainly not less than that. Right now there are even so many PhDs in some areas[ref] that graduates are required to do postdoc research in order to be able to distinguish themselves.

hello friends.

we've been to the district convention and heard some statistics: 6.5 million publishers, 1.3 billion hours in 2006, 28.5 million copies of the wt.

this supposedly proves that the witnesses are the real followers of christ.

I really wonder what first Christian fathers would have said to that. But if statistics are to go by then Catholic Church is certainly the only true religion with 1,114,966,000 follower world wide and has existed for the most part of the last 2000 years since Christs' death.

The Eden Story

in the garden of eden, god supposedly didn't want adam and eve to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.

he preferred they remain innocent and incapable of deciding for themselves what is right or wrong.. along comes satan who wants them to eat of this tree and says they will become like god, knowing good and bad for themselves.

he says they will be like god.. as we all know, they chose to eat and find out what they were missing.

I used to struggle with this question myself. In particular if you take into consideration Genesis 1:26 where it said they were already created in God's image, which would imply all godly attributes and characteristics including knowing difference of good and evil. How was it possible being created in his image and lack in some aspects? OR did something else change? Or is bible simply inconsistent?
